andgrassestofilterpollutionandsequestercarbon.AmeanderingBayWalk(13.2)
willconnecthigh-pointstoallowvisitorstotraversethegrassywetland.Theedgeof
theselandmassesarereinforcedbyrip-raprecycledandrepurposedfromthe

TheeasternbasintotheMangroveRestorationisalargeshallowstretchofsea
grassesto becultivatedforUMAMIAMIandtheTestKitchens.ThisSeaweedFarm
(13.3)willonlyworkifthewaterishighenoughtofosteranenvironmentidealfor
algaetogrowinmass.IfSLRislowerthanprojected,thenthisbasinwouldserveas
anextensionoftheCoastalMeadow.AtthehighergroundsoutheastoftheSeaweed
Farm,thecurrentlypavedroadwillbeconvertedintoaLongleafPineHammock
(13.4). Sincethisspeciesissalttolerant,thepinescanextendtowardthecentral
areasofthePark.Thiszonewillprovideauniquehabitatformanydisplacedspecies
whooncemadethisshoaltheirhome.

theCoastalWalkattheeasternoutletofthetunnel.Thefoliageherewillbeplanted
incloserproximitytoshadetheplaygrounds(14.3).Thisdenseplantingcontinues
alongtheentirewesternedgeoftheforedunetoshieldbeachgoersfromtrafficand
enhancethebeachsideexperiencewithcarveoutsfortheoccasionalpavilion(14.2)
forfamiliestogatherandgrill.
TheLifeguardStationbuilding(14.5)isa10,500square-footfacility,builtin2013with
atower,officespace,trainingroom,alockerroom,restrooms,beachobservation
deck,andagarageforvehiclesandequipment.Thegroundfloorlobbyactsasa
lifeguardmuseumwherepublicmeetingsandeducationalclassesareofferedinside
