More Than Ready has enjoyed success over mares from a wide range
of sire lines but his results with Northern Dancer are remarkable.
Sebring should be suited by Northern Dancer through Nijinsky
II (including Royal Academy), Storm Bird (including Storm Cat
and Bluebird), Be My Guest, Sadler’s Wells (including Scenic),
Last Tycoon, Palace Music and Night Shift (brother to the third
dam of Flying Spur). He would be intriguing with mares by Encosta
De Lago (duplicating Rolls), also other branches of Danzig, including
Grand Lodge and Anabaa.
More Than Ready has a strong record with Mr. Prospector line
mares through Miswaki (including Umatilla), Thunder Gulch,
Elusive Quality, Seeking the Gold (via Secret Savings the
broodmare sire of SAMAREADY), Street Cry, Unbridled’s
Song, Defensive Play and Bellotto.
Sir Ivor is a good combination for Halo, Kaapstad, Marauding
and Zabeel would be sources worth pursuing. More Than Ready has
a good strike rate with mares descending from Star Kingdom.
Sebring is out of a mare by Danehill’s Golden Slipper winning son
Flying Spur, and inbreeding Northern Dancer, has enjoyed phenomenal
success, also inbreeding to Danzig is succeeding with ever increasing
frequency. Breeding Sebring back over mares by sons of Danehill
such as Danzero, Redoute’s Choice and Catbird – who echo
the Danehill/Star Kingdom cross in the dam of Sebring should
do well. Mares bred on the Danehill/Mr. Prospector cross should
also be successful.
Sebring’s great-grand dam is by Better Boy, and Halo/Better Boy
has been successful, this could be reinforced through Century, by
Better Boy. Century is also a three-quarters relative to Willowy (the
third dam of Sebring), and could be brought in through Centaine
and Rubiton. We also recommend Sebring with mares by Rory’s
Jester, bringing together the three-parts-brother and sister, Far Vista
and Baguette.
