The handsome Snippetson has established himself as a consistent sire of
winners & stakes horses, widely regarded as being a top value sire capable
of siring good looking, tough stock that perform over all conditions.
Crossing Snippetson back over mares from his own broodmare sire
line of Danzig is working extremely well, particularly Danehill and
sons (already produced Stakes winners MISS UPSTART ex Danzero,
THAT’S THE ONE ex Redoute’s Choice, & Stakes performers KID
KOBE ex Danewin, DANSONATE ex Commands, KENJORWOOD
ex Flying Spur); Chief’s Crown; and Pine Bluff (broodmare sire of
multiple stakes winning, Gr1 performer NOBBY SNIP and also a Group
One winner by Snippetson’s full brother Snowland in ABSOLUT GLAM).
Snippets over Northern Dancer line mares have produced more than
a third of Snippets’ stakes winners. Snippetson has two Northern Dancer
strains but they will be 5 x 5 in his foals, so further Northern Dancer
can work. Particularly Nureyev (Nureyev’s son Spinning World has
worked with Snippetson with group performers MISTER MILTON &
SNIP N DUCK), and his three-parts-brothers Sadler’s Wells (sire of
Scenic, Barathea, Galileo, Montjeu and Carnegie), Fairy King
(sire of Encosta de Lago) and Perugino all give linebreeding to the
famous Rough Shod II family.
Snippets has also crossed successfully through Nijinsky II (who
could be introduced through Western Symphony, Royal Academy,
Whiskey Road.) Try My Best (through Last Tycoon); Lyphard;
Storm Bird (particularly through Bluebird and Storm Cat).
Another good cross for Snippets is with mares from the Star Kingdom
line. They include Biscay, through Marscay and Bletchingly; Kaoru
Star through Luskin Star, Zephyr Bay and Canny Lad, who gives
well placed inbreeding to Lunchtime.
The In Reality sireline worked with Snippetson providing Group
winner FAST CLIP, look for mares by Honour And Glory and Valid
Appeal.
Others to look for are Red Ransom, Quest For Fame (Dam sire of
stakes performing 2yo ANYTHINGTHATMOVES), Gilded Time,
Crown Jester/Rory’s Jester and Zeditave.
