Tickets is by two-time Champion Sire Redoute’s Choice, now making
an impact as a sire of sires with ten stakes siring sons, including Stratum,
Snitzel and Not A Single Doubt.
Tickets is out of a six-times stakes winning mare Staging, and is threeparts-brother
to group one winning two year-old Excites, and halfbrother
to group one winning sprinter Duporth. Tickets’ half-brother,
Duporth, is a son of Red Ransom (by Roberto), and Tickets should
also be suited by daughters and granddaughters of Red Ransom. Sons,
such as Sri Pekan, Intikhab, Charge Forward, and Domesday,
with mares by the latter two being of particular interest.
Roberto is a son of Hail to Reason, and there are group one
winners by Redoute’s Choice out of mares descending from this line
through Sound Reason, and Halo (out of a mare by Don’t Say
Halo). The Halo branch might also be introduced through More
Than Ready and Sunday Silence (available in Australia through
Fuji Kiseki, Genuine and Tayasu Tsuyoshi).
From the male line Turn-to (sire of Hail to Reason), through Sir
Tristram, Redoute’s Choice has sire 18 stakes winners. Representatives
of Sir Tristram that have worked here, include Zabeel (& grandson
Lonhro), Sovereign Red, Dr. Grace, Military Plume, Grosvenor
and Marauding.
The cross of Redoute’s Choice and his sons over mares from the Mr.
Prospector line has been a productive one, and successful sources
include Woodman, Kingmambo, Thunder Gulch (who gives the
genetic relatives Storm Bird and Nijinsky II), Seeking the Gold (sire
of Secret Savings), and Geiger Counter. Other worthwhile sources
of Mr. Prospector include Gone West (particularly good through
Elusive Quality, and Zafonic – both giving the genetic relatives
Nijinsky II and The Minstrel – and Zafonic’s son Xaar – from
Redoute’s Choice’s own family), Machiavellian (through Street
Cry and Vettori), Distorted Humor and Unbridled’s Song.
Even though Redoute’s Choice is a Northern Dancer line horse, he
has done well over Northern Dancer line mares. He has two stakes
winners out of a daughter and grand daughter of El Gran Senor and
six stakes winners out of mares by Last Tycoon. Tickets has a double
of Nijinsky II a strain that has done well under Redoute’s Choice,
and this is far enough back that a third cross should compliment. Good
sources include Royal Academy. Other Northern Dancer strains
that are proven under Redoute’s Choice include Encosta de Lago
and Dehere. One might also consider mares by Spinning World.
Redoute’s Choice is the sire of a stakes winner out of a mare by
Bluebird, who is by Storm Bird, a genetic relative to Nijinsky II.
That strain could also be brought in through Storm Cat sons, such as
Hennessy, Tale of the Cat, and Giant’s Causeway.
Other strains that might be considered include Star Way; Snippets
and Bletchingly - particularly through Hurricane Sky, Brave Warrior
and his son Show a Heart; and Blushing Groom, through Rainbow
Quest/Quest For Fame.
