Our 2012 roster reflects our commitment to top quality Australian bred horses that are
proven under our conditions at the elite level – Australian speed and toughness for
Australian conditions.
Substantial and widespread increases in prizemoney and breeders bonus schemes
across all levels of racing in Australia have guaranteed a bright future for our industry
and with the redevelopment of Royal Randwick it promises to revitalize our industry. I
believe there has never been a better time to be involved in breeding thoroughbreds and
our selection of proven and promising young sires offer you an opportunity to breed for
the sale ring or racetrack.
Golden Slipper winner Stratum embodies our philosophy in stallion selection and has
justified our faith in him at every turn. Champion First and Second Season Sire as well
as Champion Sire of Two Year Olds in 2009/2010, Stratum has sired 11 stakes-winners
from his first three crops led by Group I ATC Golden Slipper winner Crystal Lily and
Group I ATC Australian Oaks and Flight Stakes winner Streama.
Snippetson is widely regarded as Australia’s best value sire with seven new stakes
horses in the last six months and his progeny are described by trainers as “they’re
tough, good looking and can run”. His stakewinners include Fast Clip, That’s The One
and Nobby Snip.
Set to follow in the footsteps of Stratum are Sebring and Northern Meteor, whose first
progeny sold at the yearling sales this year providing a fantastic return for our many
loyal clients. The progeny of Golden Slipper winner Sebring were snapped up by all the
best judges with 49 of his offspring selling for $100,000 or more with the top seller being
a colt from Valda Merceda that made $450,000 at Magic Millions. There was also great
interest from buyers for record breaking Group I winning sprinter Northern Meteor, who
had 27 yearlings sell for upwards of $100,000 with the highest priced being a colt from
Listen Here that made $440,000 at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
Our other young stallions Nicconi, Dreamscape, Star Witness and Tickets are all
progressing through the early stages of their stud careers with Nicconi and Dreamscape
set to have yearlings at the sales in 2013 and Star Witness and Tickets will have their
first foals on the ground this spring.
