Home for the Aged<br />

(Darul Takrim)<br />

Established in 1996<br />

Provides shelter and care for the<br />

elderly and destitute who are<br />

referred by the Ministry of Social<br />

and Family Development (MSF)<br />

Has a capacity of 144 residents<br />

Adopts a holistic approach<br />

towards the care of its residents:<br />

• Engaging them in<br />

meaningful activities<br />

• Maintaining daily<br />

functioning through regular<br />

physiotherapy<br />

• Customising care<br />

according to the residents’<br />

individual needs<br />

The Home works closely<br />

with Government Agencies to<br />

provide support to residents<br />

with the potential for discharge<br />

towards reintegration to the<br />

community for independent<br />

living and reunification with their<br />

families<br />

The Four Foundations<br />

Residents also benefit from Darul Takrim’s wide network of community<br />

partners, volunteers and corporates which organise regular visits to the Home<br />

for their <strong>Corporate</strong> Service Responsibility (CSR) activities.<br />

28% of the Residents are actively engaged under<br />

the Home Employment Scheme.<br />

2.4% of the Residents are engaged in Day Release Scheme<br />

where they are employed by community partners of <strong>Jamiyah</strong><br />

Home of the Aged.<br />

3.2% of the Residents have been reintegrated back to the<br />

community for independent living.<br />
