Department
Established in 1970, the Women and
Family Department aims to empower
women in the community. The various
programmes are designed to support
and inspire all women to better serve
themselves, their family and the
community.
Objectives of the Women and
Family Department are :
i. To promote physical,
intellectual, emotional and
social (PIES) well- being
of women
ii. To strengthen family
cohesiveness
iii. To harness partnerships with
global organisations, focusing
on women and family matters

Exemplary Mother Award (EMA)
Jamiyah Singapore’s
signature event is the
annual Exemplary
Mother Award (EMA).
Launched in 1993 with the
Presidential Shield from
the late President Wee Kim
Wee, the prestigious event recognises and
celebrates the sacrifices, determination,
and resilience of Mothers in overcoming
life's many challenges. It honours Mothers
from all walks of life, and across all races
and religions who have made an impact in
the lives of their family members and the
community.

Department
Baking Workshop with Chef Siti Mastura
Mental Health Talk titled 'Healthy Mind Stress Free
Life', a collaboration between Jamiyah Singapore’s
Women & Family Department and Putra Specialist
Hospital, Melaka. The 3-part virtual talk show
addressed some of the factors that contribute to the
mental stress especially amongst women as they
execute their multitude roles.
In 2018, Jamiyah introduced a new
category – the Exemplary Young Mother
Award – to showcase the entrepreneurial
spirit, hard work, and determination
of young mothers, as well as their
contributions to society.
