The Danish monitoring service Polar Portal, which is part of

the World Meteorological Organization's (WMO) annual state

of the climate report, warned that 2021 added to the preceding

24 years of steady loss from Greenland's glaciers.

A new report from the Polar Gateway explains that the start

of the 2021 boreal summer was cold and wet, with unusually

heavy and late snowfall in June, delaying the start of the

Greenland ice melt season.

However, a heat wave in late July caused considerable loss

of the glaciers.
