Uniform
A student’s outward appearance, as well as their demeanour and
character, can reflect credit (or otherwise) on the College as well as
on themselves. Students should come to school and leave school
smartly dressed every day. Members of the public frequently form
their first, and perhaps only, impression of a school on superficial
acquaintance – please encourage your child to set and sustain a
good example of personal smartness and individual behaviour.
Regulation clothing must be worn in school, on journeys to and
from school, on school occasions and whenever they represent
the College.
Games clothes must be brought to school on the appropriate
day and taken home afterwards, not left in lockers.
Year 7 – 11 School Uniform
All uniform and sportswear can be purchased from the school
supplier, Stevensons www.stevensons.co.uk
Eltham College blazer with sewn in school badge, as supplied by
Stevensons.
Mid grey trousers or mid grey pleated skirt with blue button. Skirt
length should be closer to the knee than the hip.
Grey V neck jumper with gold/white stripes in V, as supplied
by Stevensons.
White shirt or white blouse with revered collar. Long or short
sleeved. No dark coloured t-shirts, motifs or underwear should
be visible.
Plain dark socks (black or grey) with trousers or black or white
knee high or ankle socks with skirt. No trainer socks to be worn.
Hair should be kept tidy and not excessively long or short.
Must be clean shaven.
No nail varnish or fake nails should be worn.
Make up, if worn, should be discreet and natural.
No facial piercings.
Senior School Sports Kit
Required Items - Boys
All required items should be purchased at the start of the
academic year.
Michaelmas Term - Striped top, blue shorts, striped socks and
full tracksuit (Rugby).
Lent Term - Striped top, blue shorts, striped socks and full
tracksuit (Hockey).
Summer Term - White cricket shirt, blue shorts and white socks
(Athletics/Cricket and PE).
All Terms - Trainers, navy “jammer” swimming shorts, goggles,
towel, shin pads and gumshield. House coloured t-shirt.
Required Items - Girls
All required items should be purchased at the start of the
academic year.
Michaelmas Term - White polo top, blue skort, striped socks,
leggings and tracksuit top (Hockey).
Senior School Outdoor Wear
Outdoor wear must be coloured plain dark navy blue or grey.
Raincoats, overcoats, trench and duffle coats, anoraks and
cagoules are permitted, providing they are clean and in good
order. These must have no plastic or leather patches, no tabs or
brass buttons, and the lining must be unobtrusive.
Cyclists on their way to school may wear suitable protective
clothing over their uniform, including fluorescent bands, but
must, of course, wear their uniform into school buildings.
Scarves must be plain navy or black.
Dark coloured gloves.
Coats, gloves and scarves are for outdoor wear only.
Music Concerts and Performances
Please note that the dress code for the majority of Eltham
College (Senior School) concerts is dinner jackets (or very dark/
black suits) with black bow tie and white shirt or all black (long)
dresses. If your child is asked to perform, please ensure that they
have the appropriate concert dress.
Second-Hand Clothing
The Parents’ Association organise second-hand clothing sales
where school uniform (including dinner jackets) may be bought
and sold. Please note that the standard College brand was
updated in 2017 and stocks of second-hand clothing are still
relatively low.
All students are provided with a locker which they can use to
secure valuables.

Shoes must be plain black leather or synthetic equivalent. No
suede or canvas shoes. No trainers with sporting motifs are to be
worn. No slip on ballet style shoes. No high heels. No industrial
style shoes, no boots. Black laces only. Shoes must be kept clean.
House tie should be worn with a collared shirt. A house pin
should be worn with a revered collar blouse.
Navy Eltham College Design Technology apron, as supplied by
Stevensons, for all students in Year 7 to 9. From Year 10 a Navy
DT lab coat may be worn.
The Science Department will supply lab coats.
School bags should be navy or black without large, colourful
logos. Optional bags with the Eltham College crest are available
from Stevensons.
Badges (metal lapel badges and other insignia) - only prefects’
or other specifically authorised (by the Headmaster) badges
are allowed.
No jewellery should be worn. If ears are pierced, one small stud
can be worn in each ear.
Hair should not be dyed an unnatural colour.

Additional items (not compulsory)
Eltham College contact top and midlayer. Stevensons also hold
stock of useful sports accessory items including baselayers
(white long-sleeved tees, navy baselayer shorts and/or leggings),
kit bags and hats.
Cricket
If your child is selected for a cricket team they will need Eltham
College cricket whites (trousers) and either a sleeveless or
long-sleeved cricket jumper (as supplied by Stevensons). Please
wait to be advised whether this is required.
House Colours
Some of the uniform and sports kit items will need to be bought
in House colours:
Carey - blue
Chalmers – red
Livingstone – green
Moffat - yellow
Valuables
The staff will take all reasonable precautions to help students,
but students are personally responsible for their own property at
all times, and must look after any valuables which they bring into
school. Students are asked to be vigilant and sensible in care of
their own property; be wholly respectful and honest in their
dealings with other people’s property. Possessions should be
named. Students must never leave valuables in jacket pockets,
bags, etc. in the sports centre changing rooms.
