yellow flowers. Another good tip for this area
is to have a statue the resembles wealth, such as
tigers (this year, as this is the year of the Water
Tiger), tortoises, swans, or money Buddhas. Or
place eight x £1 coins in a pot.
While you are placing these items, don’t forget
to manifest wealth. Manifesting is about
feeling, thinking, and actioning ways to bring

Next travel northwest
The next auspicious / favourable area is the
northwest. This year the key to this area is
“helpful people”. We all need those special
people in our lives. This is the area to place
a mirror that reflects either the south or the
northeast. Another Feng Shui tip for this area is
to place six round metal balls that are touching
each other in this area or ornaments such as a pig
or a dog.
Place a white table and chairs in this area and
have coffee with your friends and family. By
spending time in this area, you will activate the
positive chi / energy that will enhance your noble
people to come in.
Finally, turn southeast
The final area of your garden to enhance is the
southeast which this year has the “four star”
which is the good fortune star.
In my house, I have a pond with lots of goldfish
to stir up the energy to bring in happiness, wealth
and of course good fortune. I know not everyone
can put a pond there, but you might be able to
put a water feature there.
I am often asked whether you can use a solar
water feature? And the answer is unfortunately,
no, unless it has a backup of batteries. The idea
of a water feature is that it is continuous moving
water. Feng Shui means wind and water and that
is why we use water to activate areas. I know
some people use windchimes but unless it is
windy, they don’t chime.
In the southeast, you can place blue and green
flowers, the larger the better and again using pots
is a great idea.
Spending time in this area is positive Feng Shui
and as it is so close to the BBQ in the south, I
would place your outdoor dining area here. Place
hanging candles or stand-alone candles around
your dining area, and what about one of those
outdoor clocks perhaps?
That leaves the north, east, southwest and west
with nothing for you to do, well this year at least.
The centre of your garden should be left clear too,
to enhance your health.
