LONG TRUNK<br />

<strong>Long</strong>, long ago, elephants actually boasted<br />
about their very short trunks,<br />
which were only about 20 inches long.<br />
Well... all except for one:<br />
The elephant <strong>Long</strong> <strong>Trunk</strong>, who had been born<br />
into the poorest family of all<br />
and was in charge of collecting food<br />
for all elephants in the herd.<br />
LONG, LONG AGO, ELEPHANTS ACTUALLY BOASTED<br />
ABOUT THEIR VERY SHORT TRUNKS,<br />
WHICH WERE ONLY ABOUT 20 INCHES LONG.<br />
WELL... ALL EXCEPT FOR ONE:<br />
THE ELEPHANT LONG TRUNK, WHO HAD BEEN BORN<br />
INTO THE POOREST FAMILY OF ALL<br />
AND WAS IN CHARGE OF COLLECTING FOOD<br />
FOR ALL ELEPHANTS IN THE HERD.
He spent his days collecting<br />
huge piles of food until everybody was full.<br />

Since he had to carry so much food,<br />
his trunk got longer and longer.<br />
Due to the weight, it tripled in size<br />
and was much longer<br />
than the other elephants' trunks.<br />
HE SPENT HIS DAYS COLLECTING<br />
HUGE PILES OF FOOD UNTIL EVERYBODY WAS FULL.<br />
SINCE HE HAD TO CARRY SO MUCH FOOD,<br />
HIS TRUNK GOT LONGER AND LONGER.<br />
DUE TO THE WEIGHT, IT TRIPLED IN SIZE<br />
AND WAS MUCH LONGER<br />
THAN THE OTHER ELEPHANTS' TRUNKS.
The other elephants<br />
laughed and laughed and said:<br />
“What are you doing with that enormous trunk?”<br />
“You are going to trip”.<br />
Nevertheless, <strong>Long</strong> <strong>Trunk</strong> ignored them<br />
and continued doing his job as best he could.<br />

THE OTHER ELEPHANTS<br />
LAUGHED AND LAUGHED AND SAID:<br />
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH THAT ENORMOUS TRUNK?”<br />
“YOU ARE GOING TO TRIP.”<br />
NEVERTHELESS, LONG TRUNK IGNORED THEM<br />
AND CONTINUED DOING HIS JOB AS BEST HE COULD.
One day, the herd leader’s daughter Zoe<br />
was distracted while playing hide-and-seek<br />
and fell into a deep hole.<br />
Her friends ran to get her parents,<br />
and all of the animals in the jungle<br />
were worried and went to rescue her.<br />

ONE DAY, THE HERD LEADER’S DAUGHTER ZOE<br />
WAS DISTRACTED WHILE PLAYING HIDE-AND-SEEK<br />
AND FELL INTO A DEEP HOLE.<br />
HER FRIENDS RAN TO GET HER PARENTS,<br />
AND ALL OF THE ANIMALS IN THE JUNGLE<br />
WERE WORRIED AND WENT TO RESCUE HER.
