DEWSBURY CELTIC 42 WOOLSTON ROVERS 0
(NCL 25/06/2022)
Woolston Rovers had an afternoon to forget on Saturday when they suffered a comprehensive
defeat to an in-form Dewsbury Celtic side in the NCL Division Two at Crow Nest Park.
Celtic opened the scoring after just thirty seconds when some slick passing created room for
scrum half Charlie Heaton to score under the posts. Heaton converted and then just before the
midway point of the half centre Nathan Waring went over for a try. Heaton added the conversion.
Almost immediately the home side were over once again when second row Lewis Teale broke
clear and raced fifty metres to score under the posts. Heaton converted and five minutes before
the break hooker Joe Edwards went over on the left. Heaton added the conversion to give his side
a commanding 24-0 half time advantage.
Two minutes into the second half a dropped ball by Rovers was pounced on by Celtic and they
moved the ball to second row Tom Bottomley who scored. Heaton converted and then just after
the hour mark centre Paul Foulstone scored under the posts after managing to break out of a
tackle. Heaton added the conversion.
Celtic rounded off an emphatic afternoon two minutes from time when Waring put winger Mike
Foulstone over in the left corner. Heaton completed a perfect afternoon with the boot with a fine
touchline goal to round off a 42-0 win for Celtic.
Best for Rovers on an afternoon to forget were hooker Adam Files, second row Dan Griffiths and
loose forward Kieran Moore.
