of Support for Special Olympics Oklahoma
Law enforcement personnel support Special Olympics Oklahoma
through their involvement with Law Enforcement Torch Run, the official
charity of the International Association of Chiefs of Police. The Law Enforcement
Torch Run mission includes fundraising and increasing public
awareness of Special Olympics Oklahoma. Polar Plunges, Cops on

Freezin’ For A Reason
A Polar Plunge occurred every Saturday in February 2011. Locations included Bartlesville at
Two Sisters Pub Grill; Broken Arrow at Nienhuis Park; Durant at Choctaw Casino Oasis Pool;
Lawton at Holiday Inn Express; McAlester at Gene Stipe Recreation Center; Oklahoma City at
White Water Bay; Pauls Valley at Seth Wadley Ford Dealership; Stillwater at Boomer Lake;
and Tahlequah at Arrowhead Resorts on the Illinois River..
24 dips into freezing water equals some very dedicated Polar Plungers!
This year’s Polar Plunges were kicked off by the Super Plunge at White Water Bay in Oklahoma
City. Nine Super Plungers took 24 icy dips once every hour to raise a minimum of
$1,000 each for Special Olympics Oklahoma.
Doughnut Shops and Tip-A-Cops are just a few of the hundreds of
events where law enforcement personnel support the 9,500 Special
Olympics Oklahoma athletes. Congratulations and thank you Oklahoma
Law Enforcement Torch Run for celebrating 25 years of supporting Special
Olympics Oklahoma and raising $335,000 in 2011!

fundraiser benefiting
Special Olympics Oklahoma
at Krispy Kreme
Doughnut Shops was
held on June 18, 2011
in Oklahoma City and
Tulsa. More than
$20,000 was raised for Special Olympics Oklahoma.
From 7:00 a.m. until midnight, one law enforcement
representative was camped out on the roof
of Krispy Kreme locations in Oklahoma City and
Tulsa. Other law enforcement personnel were present
on the ground at each location to collect donations
that go directly to fund Special Olympics
Oklahoma.
More than twenty law enforcement agencies
from around Oklahoma participated in this one-day
event. Krispy Kreme Doughnuts provided incentives
such as free doughnuts, coffee and T-shirts
for donations to Special Olympics Oklahoma.
