The first pair of TCX motorcycle boots were launched
back in 1999, when the company/brand was still
known as OXTAR boots.
Back then, the Treviso-based technical footwear manufacturer
patented its Torsion Control System (TCS®),
which protects the ankle from possible trauma by
allowing the controlled movement of the foot along
the longitudinal and lateral axis.
OXTAR enjoyed immediate success as it became a
leader in its sector in Italy before eventually expanding
and consolidating international distribution
throughout Europe and other overseas countries.
The re-branding to TCX happened in 2007, when
OXTAR was acquired by Novation S.p.A, a highly regarded
global company providing technical expertise
to many of the world’s top athletic footwear brands.
Despite the new identity, TCX continued to become
the leading brand of motorcycle boots in Europe, with
a renewed emphasis on the technical aspects of the
full line of products, which have set industry standards
for innovation, quality and protection.
In September of 2020, TCX was acquired by Italian
motorcycle gear maker Dainese. That is one company
that needs no introduction to any self respecting
motorcyclist.
“Improving safety in dynamic sports has always been
the Dainese
mission,” said Cristiano Silei, CEO of the Dainese
Group.
With its acquisition, the Dainese Group went one
step closer from its goal of providing riders with
motorcycle gear from head to toe, as it already has
AGV helmets and the Dainese motorcycle gear brands
under its umbrella.
“We are committing to ongoing research into innovative
systems that protect athletes from head to
toe. We are extremely proud of this operation. TCX
shares with Dainese the passion for product and adds
technical and development skills that are fundamental
in motorbike footwear. ” Silei added.
With safety in mind, TCX became the first company in
its sector to introduce the CE Certification (issued at
European level by independent bodies) on all products
as a proof of the brand’s passing of strict safety
standards.
TCX continues to offer a wide range of motorcycle
boots in the market, ranging from road racing, offroad,
touring, and leisure riding footwear.
TCX Boots are imported and distributed by Henderson
Racing Products and are available at most good
dealers.
