Issue #105 • October 2022 Mountain House Community Celebrates 75 Years of Indian Independence - Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav continued page 14 - photos adjacent page each other was a majestic sight in itself. Members of the community participated in a symbolic parade around the two flags. Mr. Suresh Vuyyuru, founder of Mountain House Sports and Recreation Club welcomed the dignitaries and members of the Mountain House community in attendance. All the honored guests addressed the crowd. MHSRC, which is dedicated to promoting sports and recreational activities in Mountain House, was born. “We had pledged to host multiple sporting events in Mountain House and followed that pledge with a Volleyball tournament and a Table Tennis tournament,” stated Mr. Vuyyuru, “which saw players converging from the Bay Area and as far as from Sacramento,” he said. In addition to fostering sporting events , MHSRC also is involved in various volunteering initiatives, including July 4th Independence Day celebrations and Mountain House High School events. “Our involvement with various business organizations in an individual capacity in the past has enabled us to request them to expand their activities and services in our community,” Suresh explained. There were many performances over the course of the day, including: a Yoga demonstration, Classical dance performances and dances to the tunes of Indian cinema was mesmerizing, to say the least. The program by itself was held together by the lively compering of Sunny Moza whose wit and energy kept the audience engaged throughout the 4 hours of the celebration. Attendees stayed until late in the evening soaking in the high-energy atmosphere. The entire program was an opportunity for members of the community to showcase diverse talents. The presence of various stalls and local artists evoked a feeling of being at a fair. None of the festivities would have been possible without generous sponsors. The following sponsors ensured that the event was a great success New Indian Super market is the title Sponsor; Platinum Sponsor Sagar Kotha, Relator; RiteCare Nursing Services In INDIA; BMR infoTeck, Dublin; Dairy Queen, San Ramon; and Dunkin Donald in Tracy. An event as big as this would never be possible without a detailed vision of organizers and volunteers. The grandeur of the 75th Independence Day celebration rested on the backs of the following volunteers who spent countless hours in ensuring its success – Sravan Yempaty, Srinivas Veeramalla, Krishnan Nadadhur, Devendra Sutar, Pradeep Pisharam, Sravanthi Godey, Sreekanth Godey, Dhileep GopalaKrishna, Murali Godavarthy, Jitender Subudhi, Srinivas Karra, Dinesh Babu From Krunji Tamil Manaram, Brij Kishore Rai, Yogesh Reddy, Yegneswara Somayajulu, Sadanamdam Kanikaram, Ramesh TellamShetty, Anil Batra, Ashish Parmar. Dr. Gurneet Pawar also helped for the Event success, food slips sold by Dosa Biriyaniz, Tracy. As always, a grand celebration such as this would raise the bar for future events. The Mountain House community would be looking forward to the 76th Independence Day event in 2023. mhmatters.net Better World Rescue to Host Pups & Beer Cups Party Fund Raiser Submitted by Natasha Perez On Saturday, October 15th from 5:00-8:00pm, Better World Rescue is proud to host a Pups & Beer Cups party to benefit shelter animals and low-income pet owners. Even before stating the big news, Dr. Nicholas provided a bit of background. “I’m no historian,” he began, “but originally in the master plan there were supposed to be two high schools. It was changed to one, but bigger,” he said. “Two 45 acre school sites became one 45 acre site,” with a larger facility on the land. With the school already nearing capacity in student enrollment, expansion plans have been in the works for some time. MHHS currently has about 2,200 students enrolled. The District estimates they will exceed current capacity of 2,400 by 2024. The plans in the works involve an expansion of the existing C classroom building. The building expansion will ultimately add eleven (11) additional classrooms, one chem lab, one bio lab, and a store room. To aid in this expansion effort, two temporary portable buildings are being brought in. They will be positioned at the south west parking lot area. Theoretically, District leaders could potentially add buildings on the 19 acre plot. Given that it’s not quite connected to the rest of the school, however, consideration is being given to the possibility of moving some of the various sports fields to the new land, and building more on the main campus site. For the time being, they are clearly pleased to have new options. • Morgan Territory Brewing (1885 North MacArthur Drive, Tracy) • Featuring live auction, live music, lobster by Cousins, bake sale, photo booth, raffle baskets, and more Pumpkin Fest and Food Drive Returns 19 continued from page 13 plus food trucks!
