As a provider and as a sector we have faced many COVID related difficulties which we have
now converted into ideas for improvement that will benefit us all for many years to come.
This Annual Report will showcase many of these improvements.
‘‘Once again, we
thank our support
teams, participants,
and families for
working with us to
minimize the impact
of COVID-19.’’
Sustaining Our Workforce During Crisis
A key issue for Allevia throughout this
reporting period has been workforce
availability. The impact of the December to
March COVID outbreak in 2022, where the
isolation rules were strictly applied, reduced
staffing in all disability services to critically
low levels.
Allevia thankfully, was able to provide
continuity of service to all participants that
required essential supports, but not without
all staff pushing the boundaries of exhaustion.
Many other providers were not as fortunate.
Post COVID workforce shortages persisted
across the sector in the following months.
As we prepare this report it is pleasing to
confirm the combined effort of many in
the recruitment arena is finally seeing our
workforce return to post COVID numbers.
It is a testament to the commitment of
everyone in the Allevia community that
our Supported Independent Living (SIL) and
Individual Living Options (ILO) participants,
and our workforce, achieve total vaccination
with most also taking up the offer to receive
their 4th dose. We collectively believe that
vaccination is an important part of our
responsibility as employers and citizens.
