Student Placement - My Allevia story
Josie O. Arda
Western Sydney University
My journey with Allevia has been
enlightening and empowering. My
supervisor has been supportive, sharing
her experience, and empathy from the
beginning of my placement throughout.
Allevia values collaborative action
provides a highly encouraging, secure
learning environment which allows for
trust and personal growth to foster. The
team strives to identify the individuals’
strengths and priorities and to develop
interest- based, specifically tailored
programs for optimising the individual’s
quality of life. Allevia is more than a
skill developing workplace experience
with genuine passion to accommodate
individuals’ specific needs and aspirations.
Allevia’s’ workplace culture promotes
diversity, creativity and uniqueness and
offers a perfect starting point for people
who would like the support of a companion
on their pathway to their goals. Allevia has
given me motivation to promote equity
and wellbeing and its importance in building
healthier and happier communities.
The process of making an idea or invention
into a good or service that creates value
and/or for which customers will pay’
During the year Allevia hosted two
university students who assisted us research
ideas and opportunities for new and enhanced
service offerings and to review Allevia’s
market position. Supervised and supported
by our GM of Innovation and Social Impact,
Catherine Dickson, each student successfully
completed their project objectives and
provided Allevia valuable information to
inform our planning and service design
The projects included:
School Leaver Employment Supports-
Nnaemeka Egbo
• Provide recommendations on what
Allevia needs to competitive delivering
SLES for our community
Programs of Support - Josie O. Arda
• Researched what interest-based time
limited programs of support would
be of interest and meet the culturally
diverse influences in our community
