DRS. TERRY AND GAYLE SAMPLES RETIREMENT<br />

In May the University conferred Professor Emeritus status to beloved<br />

Dr. Terry Samples and Dr. Gayle Samples upon their retirement. This<br />

prestigious title was awarded due to their exemplary contributions,<br />

outstanding commitment, and Kingdom impact on countless students<br />

during their combined 45 years of faithful service.<br />

Through the years, God used them to bring restorative, groundbreaking,<br />

thoughtful Spirit-led ministry, teaching, leadership, and counseling with<br />

lots of laughter, breakthroughs, tears, and divine appointments.<br />

Professor Duzik, Program Chair of the Biblical Studies program and<br />

beloved longstanding faculty of the University, was selected by his peers<br />

as the <strong>2022</strong> Professor of the Year, the highest honor awarded annually to<br />

LPU faculty.<br />

Mark Duzik has served Life Pacific University for over 30 years in a<br />

variety of roles. A New Testament generalist, Mark teaches courses on<br />

the Gospels, Romans, 1 Peter, and Greek. He has been married to his<br />

much-better half for nearly forty years and has four delightful daughters.<br />

Dick Scott ‘58<br />

Dr. Richard “Dick” Scott, 7th president of Life Bible College from 1994-<br />

2003 (now Life Pacific University), entered his eternal reward on October<br />

18, <strong>2022</strong> at the age of 86.<br />

Elford (El) Clark<br />

Led by the Spirit and a commitment to Jesus, longtime Foursquare<br />

pastor and former General Counsel El Clark passed away on May 4,<br />

<strong>2022</strong> at the age of 73.<br />

Rod Light<br />

Faithful adjunct faculty member and staff writer for Life Pacific University,<br />

Professor Rod Light went to be with the Lord on May 1, <strong>2022</strong>.<br />

Harold Helms ‘49 and Winona Helms ‘49<br />

Establishing a legacy of effective ministry, Dr. Harold Helms went home<br />

to be with the Lord on June 21, <strong>2022</strong>. After just four months without<br />

Harold, Winona joined him on October 26, <strong>2022</strong>. Both were 94. Married<br />

for 75 years and in ministry together from when they met while in the<br />

Angelus Temple Church choir as students at LIFE Bible College, Winona<br />

and Harold reached many people with the love of Jesus.<br />

Arts & Media at LPU illuminates some<br />

of the many theological riches that are<br />

present in renewal worship and applies<br />

Paul’s image of church-as-body to<br />

Christian traditions. In true ecumenical<br />

spirit, Félix-Jäger shows the reader how<br />

worship traditions can learn from each<br />

other and grow together.<br />
