JOHNNY KNOX:
INSPIRED TO SERVE AND LEAD
As we dream of what is to come
for the next phase of the Aimee
Semple McPherson Digital Media
Studios, we celebrate the milestones
accomplished in its first year. To date,
more than $756,000 has been given
to launch the Digital Media Studios. A new generation
of creative, talented students are being trained in
these dynamic spaces to carry transformational
stories to the Church, the workplace, and the world.
“
How has the Aimee Semple McPherson Digital
Media Studios helped you in your career and
ministry path?
“I remember the first video I recorded in the Carol
Shelton Digital Media Studio. I loved that room for all
the options it provided. I made mini music videos there,
worked on school video projects, and even made the
mini film of my dreams come to life in that very room.
It was the perfect medium for flexing all the muscles
I had been learning in various areas of my schooling.
It felt like there was nothing I couldn’t accomplish in
that room. Every visit was a blank canvas so to speak.
It was a gift to have a place like that on campus. I only
wish they made the Studios sooner!”
Jonathan Dickerson Knox (‘22) traveled across the
country to LPU to fulfill the Lord’s calling. He arrived on
campus with a heart to serve, lead, and absorb all that
was taught during his time as a student. As a student,
Johnny led many Chapel services on the drums and
vocals, worked under Rick Meyer in Maintenance, did
well in the classroom, and was an active member of
the Worship Arts & Media community.
Soon after graduating in May, Johnny became the
Worship Director and Adult Associate Pastor at
Hope Christian Fellowship in San Gabriel, CA. But
Johnny couldn’t leave LPU for long. In addition to the
ministries at his church, Johnny came back to LPU
as the university’s Chapel Worship Coordinator and is
teaching Drum as an adjunct professor.
“
What inspires you to serve others through Worship
Arts & Media?
“The WAM program has been so near to my heart. It
reflects the gifts I exhibit, and it surrounds me with
others like me. It gives me a place to exercise my ideas
and be inspired by my peers. With it being my major
gifting, I find that Worship Arts & Media comes naturally
in my ministry and how I present myself in general. I’m
inspired to serve others through this medium. I do the
best I can to serve in any capacity, but the arts are
without a doubt my favorite.“
Johnny was an active member in creating The
LIFE Collective’s most recent single released in
September, “God of Abundance”.
