Lydia Shawl Continued... Suggested Borders: Option 1 - Double Crochet Border: Chain 3 (counts as first dc), turn. 2 dc in the same stitch (increase made). Work 1 dc in each stitch until you come to the chain 3 space. Work 2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc in the chain 3 space (increase made). After ch 3 space, work 1 dc in each stitch until you come to the last stitch, ch 3 of previous row. In the top of the ch 3, work 3 dc (increase made). Continue to work dc’s evenly across the top of the shawl to give a finished edge all the way around the shawl. Join with a slip stitch in the top of the beginning ch 3, fasten off and weave in the ends. Option 2 - Shell Cluster Border: Chain 3 (counts as first dc), turn. 2 dc in the same stitch (increase made). *Skip 2 stitches, sc in the next stitch, skip 2 stitches, 5 dc in the next stitch*. Repeat between * * until you get to the ch 3 space. In the ch 3 space – 2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc (increase made) *Skip 2 stitches, sc in the next stitch, skip 2 stitches, 5 dc in the next stitch*. Repeat between * * until you get to the last stitch, ch 3 of the previous row. In the ch 3 space – 2 sc, ch 3, 2 sc (increase made) *sc in the next 2 stitches, chain 3 sc in the same stitch.* Repeat between ** until you get to the last stitch. 3 sc in the last stitch (increase made). Work sc’s evenly across the top of the shawl to give a finished edge all the way around the shawl. Join with a slip stitch in the beginning ch 1, fasten off and weave in the ends.
