Happy new year, our dear readers! The <strong>Dental</strong><br />
<strong>Asia</strong> team is ecstatic to welcome <strong>2023</strong> as there<br />
is a lot in store ahead of us — starting with the<br />
40th edition of the International <strong>Dental</strong> Show<br />
(IDS) concurrent with its centennial anniversary<br />
happening on 14-18 Mar. Attendees can look<br />
forward to a plethora of products and solutions<br />
from over 1700 exhibitors as well as various<br />
networking opportunities (p.60).<br />
For instance, one of the key players in the<br />
intraoral scanner market, 3Shape, will also<br />
be present in IDS to showcase the recently<br />
launched TRIOS 5 Wireless. Kasper Chaney<br />
Sørensen, 3Shape’s general manager of<br />
International Markets, shares how this device<br />
has once again redefined the standards of<br />
intraoral scanning (p.21).<br />
What’s more, after the success of its<br />
online edition in 2021, the Association of<br />
Orthodontists (Singapore) Congress (AOSC)<br />
returns this year in its established physical<br />
format on 17-19 Feb, highlighting the current<br />
technological advancements in the industry,<br />
focusing on the niche of orthodontics (p.62).<br />
On another note, Dr Selene Kuo (Taiwan)<br />
presents a navigated digital full mouth implant<br />
rehabilitation utilising BEGO Semados RSX<br />
implant in combination with the components of<br />
the MultiPlus concept, which won the 4th BEGO<br />
clinical case award (p.24).<br />
Dr Walter Lam (Hong Kong), on the other<br />
hand, elaborates on the success of his<br />
research on Artificial intelligence-designed<br />
single molar dental prostheses: A protocol of<br />
prospective experimental study that bagged<br />
the IADR Neal Garrett Clinical Research<br />
Prize and was the first runner-up in the 2022<br />
IADR-SEA Hatton Award – Senior Category<br />
(p.18).<br />

Global Clinical Case Contest — a<br />
competition aimed at dental students with<br />
less than two years of clinical practice<br />
— Nanthiphorn Pongam (Thailand) also<br />
shares her winning case performed<br />
under the guidance of her professor, Dr<br />
Munin Chaichalothorn (p.42). Indeed, we<br />
can expect nothing less from the next<br />
generation of dentists.<br />
