SUPPORTING INDEPENDENT LIVING ... SHARON FRANCIS, AVA DEVELOPMENT OFFICER Starting a new job is always hard ‘til you find your feet but when it was during lockdown, it was tough. For that reason 2022 couldn’t come quick enough to enable me to meet with the great groups and organisations within our communities and the team I was working with. Virtually is a great way to meet people and has many positives but you can’t beat meeting people on a personal level and truly listening and feeling their passion for the work they do - it’s so inspiring. Days out in Inverurie and Huntly were organised by a few of us, where we met with various organisations to learn more about the work they were doing and plans they had for moving forward to meet the needs of our communities, and this was superb. But for me it was a double whammy as I was also meeting my colleagues for the first time in person and I was able to learn more about them and their role within AVA and listen to differing perspectives and interests from them about their specialisms and the groups we met. 2022 has given me so many reasons to smile when I look back on it and many of them are reflecting on the most inspiring people I have met since joining AVA.
