ADULT LEARNING RECOVERY
FUND
In 2022 the Scottish Government provided a Covid-19 recovery
investment fund for community-based adult learning (CBAL) to
support local adult learning recovery needs. Across Scotland the
investment was issued to Third Sector Interfaces (TSIs) with the agreed
expectation that they collaborate with local partners to agree how the
investment can best support local adult learning needs as identified in
their local authority’s recently published CLD plan.
£47,000 was made available for investment to support adult learning
recovery in Aberdeenshire and this came to us here at AVA.
As the TSI in Aberdeenshire, AVA engaged and worked with a number
of partners to plan and share the available funding. The outcomes
included the following:
• The Workers Education Association received funding for three
different adult learning programmes in Aberdeenshire
• 120 adult learners were able to engage in learning / development
activities because of CBAL support
• An Adult Learners Forum was funded and organised by adult
learners
• 40+ adults learners attended the event
• A range of learning resources were purchased
• 90 practitioners and volunteers involved in adult learning
benefited from resources
• 15 partner organisations received a Wellbeing & Resilience
pack; feedback has been positive with requests coming in for
additional packs
Being involved with the fund was a positive experience for AVA. We
already had a good and positive relationship with CLD colleagues;
we are an active member of the Aberdeenshire Learning Partnership
Strategic Groups and regularly attend and contribute to development
meetings. We found the fund easier to manage because of the
existing positive relationships that exist among strategic partners here
in Aberdeenshire.
