° Lionel Jeffries (1926-2010) - Screenplay, 1st<br />

draft, as screenwriter and director of ‘’The<br />

Railway Children, of his adaptation from the<br />

original novel by E. Nesbit, dated June, 1968,<br />

annotated and corrected by Jeffries in black<br />

ink and pencil, 139 numbered pages, folio, (33<br />

x 20cms), within a black sprung-hinged binder, the inner<br />

board with the director’s bold signature in felt pen, with an<br />

inserted pictorial title page, depicting a sketch of ‘’Bobbie’’,<br />

the inner back board with a sketch of ‘’Peter’’, both by Jeffries<br />

and a handwritten note suggesting an early idea of music<br />

by Jake Thackray. Together with a partially filled scrapbook<br />

of newspaper cuttings relating to the film, a programme for<br />

the Royal Charity Matinee, at the ABC cinema Shaftesbury<br />

Avenue, on 22nd December, 1970, his personal white label<br />

‘’for approval’’ copies of The Railway Children studio 2 LP set,<br />

with narration by Jeffries, dated 30th November, 1970 and two<br />

EMI The Railway Children LP’S., Together with - The Railway<br />

Children, 1970 - Thirty seven black and white images, most<br />

previously unpublished, showing members of the cast between<br />

takes, consisting of twenty-eight images 38 x 20cms; seven<br />

images 28 x 35cms. and two images 21 x 25cms; The images<br />

principally taken by Ronnie Pilgrim (1913-2003), (official stills<br />

cameraman) with others by Brian Duff (1929-2007) etc., The<br />

images principally depict Jenny Agutter, Gary Warren, Sally<br />

Thompsett and Lionel Jeffries.<br />

Provenance: Lionel Jeffries (1926-2010) - all items from the<br />

personal collection of his son, Ty Jeffries.<br />
