Welcome back to the RDS for
the final URC group stage
match of the season.
What a weekend for Irish Rugby
last week! It was fantastic to see
both the Irish Senior team and
the U20s team crowned Grand
Slam champions on home soil on
St. Patrick’s Weekend.
We want to give a special milestone
mention since our last game for Garry
Ringrose and Josh van der Flier who
both earned their 50th cap for Ireland
and to Johnny Sexton for setting a new
record for the highest points scorer in the
history of the Championship. Massive
congratulations to everyone involved
in both competitions and wishing all
those who sustained an injury a speedy
recovery.
So, it’s Friday night lights here tonight in
the RDS, where we welcome our visitors
the DHL Stormers who have made the
trip from Cape Town in South Africa. The
Stormers are the current URC Champions
and come to Dublin to try and break our
winning record in the URC competition.
We met the Stormers last year in April
when Leinster made the inaugural trip to
Cape Town last April.
Unfortunately, we lost that day 20-13, but
we did manage a losing bonus point. It’s
a top-of-the-table clash here in the RDS

tonight, and Leinster will want to keep
that unbeaten streak in order to keep
that all-important home advantage as
we progress to the Knockout stages. So,
grab a flag, grab a drum, and let’s make
the stadium blue and noisy as we shout
the team on.
There are lots of fun things happening
in the RDS tonigh. The Laya drummers
are back, and we also have given out
Bodhrans and drums to create lots of
noise all around the RDS. We have live
music in the Guinness Fanzone, Player
Q&A, and lots more going on.
The OLSC Shop is well stocked but
will only be open until kickoff, as we
have to get ready for our 2023 Legend
T-Shirt launch. Can you guess who it
is? Well, listen out for the announcement
at halftime where the identity will be
revealed, followed by a post-match Q&A
in the Guinness Fanzone with the Legend
himself where he will unveil our 2023
T-shirt.
All proceeds from the sale will go to our
nominated charity partner Jigsaw. A big
shout out, and thanks goes to the t-shirt
designer David Cahill who has come up
with all these amazing designs over the
years and gives his time voluntarily. We
are very excited to return to the Aviva
Stadium next weekend for our Round of
16 knock-out match against Ulster Rugby
in the Heineken Champions Cup. Thanks
to the hospitality of Lansdowne Rugby
Club we are moving the OLSC Fanzone
to the club for that game.
Watch out on social media for all our
events planned there, that includes flags,
face painters, and a big screen to show
the games in the build-up to ours. Once
again, a big thanks to all our volunteers
who help us out regularly, we just couldn’t
do any of it without your help.
