of the Covid Pandemic when sport was
suspended.
Each of the ten clubs based in the Area
has been profiled in detail, as have
the results from the Area competitions.
The important contribution that
Referees from the Area have made
in addition to the dedication of the
Club administrators and Volunteers
are also recognised for their efforts
in developing the sport in their
communities.
The individual players from the North
Midlands who have gone on to play
with Leinster Youths and Girls U18s
since the inception of the Inter-Area
Competitions are recognised, along
with the Girls from the Area who have
gone on to play adult rugby for Leinster,
Ireland 7s and Ireland Emerging 7s.
Speaking at the launch, Kevin Greene
said that; “as an Area, we continue to
support a number of ideals which are
important to the Rugby Family. Organ
Donor Programmes have impacted on
many families in the Area. Clubs are
encouraged to display Organ Donor
Cards in their clubhouses, highlighting the
importance of Organ Donation”.
He further drew attention to the role of
the IRFU Charitable Trust, which helps
support seriously injured players. In
addition to encouraging membership
of the “Friends of the IRFU Charitable
Trust”, he drew attention to an
upcoming event – “Rugby World
Cup, France 2023, Walk and Cycle”.

In addition to the large attendance
from all the Area clubs we were
joined by Moira Flahive (Chair
of the Leinster Rugby Inclusivity
Committee), Karl O’Neill (Chair
of the Leinster Rugby Committee),
Robert Mc Dermott (Past President
Leinster Rugby) who published the
booklet and Philip Lawlor (Rugby
Development Manager Leinster
Rugby).
