Portfolio - watercolor artist Karina Danylchuk

My name is Karina Danylchuk, I'm a Ukrainian painter, and art is my passion (and work). My second passion is nature. Relationships between nature and people inspire me to create my artworks - watercolor birds. I chose this medium to show how fragile the bird (and nature) world is: bold, transparent, and expressive. All these conditions I can express in art when words lose power. I also show the unique personality of each bird. Also, my watercolor birds set out the difference between people and animals, especially in how we show emotions. They explain: that when we see a cute bird, she can feel emotions that don’t compare with her face. We should remember it when we see any animal. I want to ensure people have more empathy for other species. I hope they see how beautiful our world is and how individual every alive creature is. Even the smallest animals/plants on our planet have a right to live in the way they want.

I am Karina Danylchuk, a Ukrainian artist born in the

Mykolaiv region and based in Kyiv. I started my art

career in 2018, and in 2021 I showed my artwork at the

first exhibition in Dunaivtsi, Ukraine. Also, I became a

2022 I continue my activity, participating in Ukrainian

and international group exhibitions (Slovenia, Poland).

(Singapore), etc.

In 2022 I also work as a volunteer for the local

Ukrainian artists' community "UArstist" as a content

maker.

I work with watercolor as a medium to express how

fragile the bird and nature are. I depict the unique

personality of each bird in the most delicate fashion.

COLLECTION: INSTINCT

This triptych is about instinct

species that live in the Ukrainian

south and east. They are the most

vulnerable due to war, because

rockets, soldiers, and war cars

don't choose the place to fight.

Who knows what happens with

this species tomorrow? Today I

want to save them at least on

paper.

DIPTYCH: NUCLEAR THREAT

2022 Nuclear,

2022 Radio,

30x40 cm

Dark red paintings depict my feelings during the war.

The Nuclear painting was inspired by news about a

russian rocket that explodes really close to the

nuclear power plant in the Mykolaiv region. It was

unexpectable for many people and also for animals

in a steppe around the city. The war isn't about

people only.

Radio shows how people (and not only we) are

waiting for good news. And also radio is the main

information point in case of nuclear attack.

DIPTYCH: EXPECTATIONS

Two common blackbirds were created when I moved

house to the Ukrainian west. I escaped the war but I

realized that war is still close to me. And at any time I

could wake up and move house again. This unhappy

expectation I expressed in art.
