PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT
UNIFORM AND PERSONAL PROPERTY
22
The school actively encourages the involvement of parents, formally and informally. There is an active KGPS parents’
association known as ‘Friends of Kew Green’ with elected officers and parent representatives for each class. There are
also Section Representatives representing the parent body for Lower School and Upper School.
We welcome volunteers to help with listening to readers school trips and other activities around the school. If you wish
to be a regular volunteer, we will require you to complete a DBS check (Disclosure and Barring service).
Please contact: secretary@kgps.co.uk.
NEW PARENTS’ DRINKS
This usually takes place in the first few weeks of the Autumn Term. We ask all new parents to come and meet the
teachers, Directors and representatives from the parent’s association over a glass of wine.
PARENTS’ EVENINGS
Parents’ Evenings are held every term and we invite parents to take this opportunity to discuss their child’s academic
and social progress with the class teacher. Specialist teachers are also available. The appointments are spread over two
evenings. Appointments can be made via our electronic booking system ahead of the Parents’ Evenings. Teachers are
always willing to meet parents at an alternative time should these dates be inconvenient. In addition to Parents’ Evenings,
there are further opportunities where parents are invited into the school.
PARENT WORKSHOPS
There is a regular programme of parent workshops throughout the year to cover a range of topics to advise on techniques
to support with your child’s learning in these areas. Other workshops include: assessment, 11+ process, Life Skills and
SRE. A full calendar of events can be found on My School Portal.
HAIR
If your child has hair that is below shoulder-length, it should be tied back at all times using either blue or green hair ties.
Hair colour and braids are not permitted, but plain blue or green Alice bands are acceptable. No child should have hair
covering their eyes.
JEWELLERY AND MAKE-UP
Children should not wear jewellery, make-up, nail polish or skin transfers at school of any form other than for medical or
religious reasons. Watches are encouraged.
LOST PROPERTY
It is important that your child's bags and uniform, including
P.E. kit, shoes and underwear (for swimmers), are clearly
labelled. If your child loses an item of uniform, please check
the Lost Property trunk (between the Reception classrooms
and the sheds). If this is not successful, email the class
teacher and your class rep.
SCHOOL BAGS
Please ensure that your child uses the KGPS book bag,
rucksack for their P.E. clothes and swimming bag. Please refer
to the uniform list.
