WE ARE COMMITTED TO PROVIDING:
A broad curriculum: we are a school that educates children from aged four to eleven through a variety of subjects, offering
a broad-based curriculum. It is emphasised at Open Mornings that we do not support departures at any stage other than
11+.
Extra-curricular activities: a wide variety is offered at KGPS. Striking a balance between working and playing hard
is important. It is also vital to give opportunities, where possible, for children to extend their interests and have them
acknowledged at school.
Open door policy: we welcome the involvement of parents in their child’s education and very much see it as a partnership.
We welcome parental support whether listening to pupils read, helping in the library, fundraising, talking to pupils about
their careers and at other events. We see this involvement as a defining aspect of the school.
Excellent teaching: the role of the teacher is demanding, exciting and rewarding. Teachers will inspire children with
their enthusiasm and knowledge as well as encouraging inquisitiveness. Equally important is their sensitivity towards the
pastoral care of the child.
Pupil voice: we aim to show the children their opinions and perspectives will be respected and listened to.
Non-selective: Kew Green Preparatory School accepts pupils of all abilities. Whilst all children have many strengths, they
may also have weaknesses. Understanding this in oneself and in others is vital. It also provides a rich tapestry within a
school — academically, musically, linguistically, artistically, physically, emotionally, socially and culturally.
Co-educational: we endeavour to maintain a 50:50 girl-boy ratio.
Information and records: we maintain confidentiality of records about staff and children with access only available to
those who have a right or a professional need to see them. Parent and/or cares are given access to all records about their
child, provided that no relevant exemptions apply to their disclosure under the Data Protection Act.
