Growing up in a digital world means that our children have been<br />
exposed to technology from a young age and their enthusiasm<br />
for it is evident.<br />
Most students are confident at using touch screens and tablets<br />
but may lack confidence when using a keyboard, mouse or<br />
trackpad. In the <strong>Junior</strong> <strong>School</strong>, students use a range of devices<br />
across the curriculum; to prepare your child for this we advise<br />
practising a few key IT skills with them.<br />
• Explore the difference between turning off a tablet/iPad to<br />
shutting down a laptop/desktop computer.<br />
• Explore how to use a mouse or trackpad and discover the<br />
difference between left and right clicking.<br />
• Familiarise themselves with a keyboard. They could begin<br />
learning to touch type on the BBC Dancemat website:<br />

• How to navigate between windows using the minimise and<br />
maximise functions.<br />
• Learn how to use Google Search.<br />
