Established in 2000, Hong Kong Academy is a non-profit, international through-train
school serving students aged 3-18 years old. Our joyful and rigorous education
develops the competencies, knowledge and skills students need to be successful
today and in the future.
Our inquiry-based approach to teaching and learning provides a holistic education
that is differentiated for all learners. Students are given voice and agency and are
encouraged to make and use personal connections to engage with meaningful
learning experiences. As they approach graduation, students are supported to identify
the best-fit pathway that will help them achieve their post-secondary aspirations.

As we recognise the many ways that education
continues that change and evolve, our innovative
teachers use a wide range of research-based
strategies and resources that invite students to
inquire and act within and beyond the curriculum.
Global citizenship is at the heart of HKA’s mission
and vision and drives how learning, teaching and
assessment take place.
The Primary School offers a learning environment
that is sensory-rich and visually appealing, inviting
learners to explore through hands-on experiences
both within and beyond the classroom. Students
engage in rich and complex thinking during
mathematics and literacy instruction, which is also
integrated into IB PYP units of inquiry. Empowered
to embrace their identities as multilingual learners,
students nurture language skills in both English and
Mandarin and explore the host country culture
through engagement with the local community.
In Secondary School, teaching and learning is
designed to prompt students to identify real-world
problems and consider creative solutions for a
better future. Through the IB MYP and IB DP,
students connect subject area content and skills to
their identities as global citizens, identifying their
strengths, pursuing their interests and contributing
to their communities. All graduates earn the creditbased
HKA Diploma and the portfolio-based Global
Citizen Diploma. Over 90% also complete the IB
Diploma or a selection of course certificates.

Our specialist programmes are designed to further
enhance this integrated approach. In visual arts,
music, drama, digital literacy, library, design,
physical education and Mandarin, students are able
to develop complementary skill sets that equip
them for their learning journeys to come.
HKA offers a robust co-curricular programme for
learners of every age, with over 100 offerings
available each year across the school. There is a
balance of complimentary learning opportunities in
the fine and performing arts, STEAM, sports,
leadership, language studies, service learning for
both Primary and Secondary School students.
Our purpose-built campus is a state-of-the-art
facility that serves as a living learning lab. It is the
only whole-school campus to have been awarded
Gold BEAM Plus status by the Green Building
Council for its sustainable operational procedures
and environmentally-friendly design. The campus
boasts a professional grade theatre and visual art
studios, outdoor playscapes and sports pitches, and
multiple science and design labs in which STEAM
projects come to life.
Located in Sai Kung, our exceptional location provides
community members with the very best of what Hong
Kong has to offer. Surrounded by mountains and near
a number of country parks and the seafront, a range
of outdoor activities are accessible. The HKA campus
is a short walk from Sai Kung town and the school
works in partnership with the community, making use
of the public swimming pool, running track and
hardtop courts and opening its facilities to
neighbourhood organisations and sports teams.

IB DIPLOMA RESULTS
Hong Kong Academy is non-competitive in its admissions, and we support any student who is interested in
pursuing the full IB Diploma to do so. Candidates for the full IBDP can earn a maximum of 45 points, and HKA
students consistently outperform the world pass rate and average total points.
