researching available
options to replace
our outdated in-car
camera system
about four years
ago. After an extensive
search
of available solutions,
Utility had
new cutting-edge
technology that
would benefit Public
Safety.
Utility integrates EOS BodyWorn
cameras, Rocket in-car cameras, and
Polaris digital evidence management
software (DEM) into a policy-based
platform. The solution automatically
uploads high-definition video and audio
in near real-time into cloud storage
which is Criminal Justice Information
Systems (CJIS) compliant.
The EOS BodyWorn camera is an android
device attached to the officer’s
uniform using a grommet to reduce
the risk of the camera detaching while
in foot pursuits. It has policy-based recording
triggers that allows us to custom
configure when the camera starts
recording automatically. An example is
when the police unit’s door is opened
while the lightbar is on, recording on
your information.
After you’ve been set up, the new video
site has a bulletin board, which will
guide you through the process of assigning
and tracking videos.

It allows many configurable policies to
automate events such as turning on
the cameras when lightbar is activated
or when the vehicle reaches certain
speeds.
Polaris DEM is a powerful virtual cloud
command center. DEM provides video
playback, live video stream, and chain
of custody. It also gives dispatch a visual
on a map of the location of each
body camera and each police unit using
GPS technology. DEM can integrate
with existing computer aided dispatch
(CAD) unlocking advanced features
such as geofencing and auto categorization.
