12th World Choir Games July 3 - 13, 2023 Gangneung/Gangwon, Republic of Korea The Korean Choir Games of Peace With a one-year delay, the World Choir Games will return to Korea in 2023: The city of Gangneung, located in the Gangwong province, is the second Korean city after Busan in 2002 to host the world's largest international choir competition. Gangwon-do is experienced in hosting major international events: In 2018 it was the venue of the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, which went down in history as the "Peace Games" due to the joint appearance of North and South Korean athletes. A perfect place for the unifying power of choral music to become an even more significant international symbol of peace. Korea has a vibrant choral scene, which is highly valued in the country and received strong support from politics and community. The country regularly sends its choirs to participate in the World Choir Games – and often return with impressive success. The host city of the 2023 World Choir Games, Gangneung, is known for its breathtaking location by the sea in front of fantastic mountain scenery. The Olympic Park and the Ice Arena were also venues for the 2018 Winter Olympics and are centrally located in the city. <strong>World</strong> <strong>Choir</strong> Council General Conference<br />
The General Conference of the <strong>World</strong> <strong>Choir</strong> Council <strong>2023</strong> will be held in <strong>Gangneung</strong>, after<br />
two years in Flanders in 2021, again as part of the <strong>World</strong> <strong>Choir</strong> <strong>Games</strong> <strong>2023</strong>.<br />
The conference will again be held as a hybrid event on July 08 & 09, <strong>2023</strong>, both live in<br />
<strong>Gangneung</strong> and online, due to continued effects of the pandemic and current world<br />
events. This will allow members who are unable to travel to <strong>Gangneung</strong> to participate in<br />
the <strong>World</strong> <strong>Choir</strong> Council's biggest event.<br />
The <strong>World</strong> <strong>Choir</strong> Council General Conference is traditionally held every two years during<br />
the <strong>World</strong> <strong>Choir</strong> <strong>Games</strong>. Besides official parts like honoring members and appointing<br />
members, the topics of the General Conference focus on the challenges that the choral<br />
community has to face in the future and how we can manage to overcome them by<br />
working together. The continuous development of the <strong>World</strong> <strong>Choir</strong> Council and the choral<br />
community is an important goal. The members of the <strong>World</strong> <strong>Choir</strong> Council will contribute<br />
their long experience and their new motivation to bring light and hope while offering<br />
down-to-earth solutions and strategies.<br />
In addition to the exchange and discussion of important current problems of the choral<br />
scene, there will also be a presentation of the host in <strong>Gangneung</strong>, who will present and<br />
introduce the choral scene of Korea to the members of the <strong>World</strong> <strong>Choir</strong> Council and their<br />
guests. The next host of the <strong>World</strong> <strong>Choir</strong> <strong>Games</strong> 2024 New Zealand will also have a chance<br />
to present and introduce themselves briefly.<br />
