disastrosa acqua alta e continuati con la terribile pandemia, è pronta a rinascere e
lo fa proprio in concomitanza con l’avvio delle celebrazioni per i 1600 anni dalla sua
fondazione.
Venezia torna a vivere e lo fa con quel coraggio e quella determinazione che ha sempre contraddistinto
il suo essere Regina dei mari e simbolo di unità tra lo Stato da Mar e Stato da Tera.
Un delicato equilibrio che da sempre caratterizza le diverse realtà che compongono il suo
paesaggio - dalle isole a tutto il territorio metropolitano- creano un’offerta turistica e una realtà
unica al mondo, che tutti sono chiamati a rispettare e preservare.
Venezia è e sempre sarà una città viva che crede nel futuro: innovazione, nuova manifattura,
porto off-shore e lo sviluppo di Porto Marghera, sono le scommesse per il rilancio di questo

Welcome to a City that is ready, following those dark months beginning in November 2019 with a disastrous
high water and continuing with the terrible pandemic, for a rebirth taking place concurrently with the inception
of celebrations for the 1600 years since its foundation.
Venice is living once again, and doing so with the courage and determination that have always distinguished
its being the Queen of Seas and a symbol of unity between its Stato da Mar and Stato da Tera, or Marine State
and Land State.
A delicate balance, which has forever characterised the varied aspects making up its landscape - from its
islands to its whole metropolitan territory - creating a unique tourist offer and reality worldwide, which
everyone is called upon to respect and preserve.
Venice is and shall always be a vibrant city believing in the future: innovation, novel manufacturing, an offshore
port and the development of Porto Marghera are the challenges for relaunching this territory, which

St. Mark’s Square is a monumental site and
excluding pertinent bars and restaurants, it is
forbidden to stand at any time in order to consume
food or drink.
Venice is a city of art: it is forbidden to camp,
walk about in swimwear, dive and swim. The
beaches at Lido and Pellestrina can be easily
reached.
Respect the environment and artistic wealth: do
not litter, do not vandalize with graffiti. Do not
give food to the pigeons.
If you are staying in an apartment or flat, please
get informed about the garbage recycling
collection.
Plan your trip and choose to visit Venice when it
is less crowded.

Triveneta delle Chiavi d’Oro.
A distanza di anni questa pubblicazione prosegue nel

questa associazione.

PIAZZA SAN MARCO CON LE STELLE…
da Pausini e Conte a Beethoven
E’ passato quasi un secolo quando il Teatro La Fenice conquistò per la prima volta
la Piazza e a Venezia, per Piazza, ci riferiamo all’unica riconosciuta in città, almeno
dai veneziani, Piazza San Marco.
Era il 1928 quando nello scenario incorniciato dalle antiche Procuratie, dall’Ala Napoleonica
e dalla millenaria basilica consacrata all’Evangelista Marco, il pubblico
poté assistere a due opere di Ruggero Leoncavallo: “Cavalleria Rusticana” e “Pagliacci”.
A dirigerle, fu il grande Pietro Mascagni e, inutile dirlo… fu un clamoroso successo.
Negli anni seguirono spettacoli di ogni tipo tra cui quelli ideati da La Biennale di
Venezia con serate memorabili con Merce Cunningham, Maurice Béjart e il celebre
balletto del Bol’šoj di Mosca e altre, con protagoniste alcune stelle del rock come
Paul McCartney, che esordisce con il suo nuovo gruppo proprio qui nel 1976, dopo
lo scioglimento dei Beatles e di Sting, in una serata altrettanto storica con la Filarmonica
della Fenice, nel 2011.
Negli ultimi anni la Piazza riapre le luci della ribalta ancora con la Fenice nel 2020 e
nel 2022 con una magistrale esecuzione di Fabio Luisi dei Carmina Burana.
Quest’anno, il “salotto più bello del mondo”, offrirà ancora una volta momenti che,
per chi avrà la fortuna di assistervi, resteranno scolpiti nella memoria.
Si partirà dalla serie di tre concerti di Laura Pausini, una delle cantanti italiane più
note dell’odierno panorama internazionale che si esibirà a cinque anni dall’album
che le ha portato l’ultimo Latin Grammy e dal suo ultimo concerto live (30 giugno, 1
e 2 luglio) per proseguire con il Teatro La Fenice che presenterà una straordinaria
esecuzione della Nona sinfonia di Ludwig van Beethoven con l’Orchestra e il Coro
del Teatro diretta dal grande maestro slovacco Juraj Valčuha, atteso per l'8 luglio.
Chiuderà il giorno seguente il nuovo spettacolo di Paolo Conte, l’amato e raffinato
cantautore italiano reduce dall’ultimo grande successo ottenuto al Teatro alla
Scala di Milano. D.R.

SAINT MARK'S SQUARE WITH THE STARS
From Pausini and Conte to Beethoven
Almost a century has passed since La Fenice Theatre
won over the Piazza for the first time, and, in
Venice, we refer by Piazza to the only square acknowledged
in town, at least by Venetians, Saint
Mark's Square.
It was 1928 when, in a scenario outlined by the
ancient Procuratie, the Napoleonic wing and
the millenary Basilica consecrated to Mark the
Evangelist, the audience was able to attend two
operas by Ruggero Leoncavallo: “Cavalleria Rusticana”
and “Pagliacci”.
They were conducted by the great Pietro Mascagni
and, needless to say… it was a great success.
Over the years, shows of all kinds followed, including
the ones conceived by the Venice Biennale
with memorable evenings featuring Merce
Cunningham, Maurice Béjart and the famous
Moscow Bolshoi ballet and other ones, starring
rock stars such as Paul McCartney, who made his
debut with his new band right here in 1976 after
the Beatles’ breakup, and Sting, who performed
during an equally historic evening with La Fenice
Philharmonic, in 2011.
In recent years the Piazza has shone its limelight
again with the Fenice in 2020 and 2022, with a
masterful performance by Fabio Luisi of the Carmina
Burana.
This year, the "most beautiful salon in the world"
is once more offering moments which will remain
etched in memory, for those that are lucky
enough to attend.
We begin from the series of three concerts
by Laura Pausini, one of the best-known
Italian singers on the international scene
nowadays, who will perform five years after
the album that garnered her the Latin
Grammy and her latest live concert (30
June, 1,2 July), then continuing with La
Fenice Theatre which will present an extraordinary
performance of Ludwig van
Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with the
Theatre Orchestra and Chorus, conducted
by the great Slovak maestro Juraj Valčuha
(8 July).
Closing on the following day, is the new
show by much-beloved and sophisticated
Italian singer and songwriter Paolo Conte,
hailing from his latest great success garnered
at the Scala Theatre in Milan.

REDENTORE, BIENNALE E MOSTRE D'ARTE
Se i grandi concerti in Piazza San Marco non
mancheranno di attrarre un pubblico selezionato
di appassionati, altrettanta attenzione in questo
mese sarà per alcune manifestazioni che da sole
valgono la visita in città.
C’è poi per chi ama il relax, l’attrazione per eccellenza
dell’estate, quella offerta dal mare, in
questo caso dalla spiaggia del Lido, nota per la
composta eleganza e il suo fascino, un po’ fuori
dal tempo.
Al tutto si affianca una manifestazione che prosegue
una secolare tradizione nota come la Festa
del Redentore, ancor oggi, tra gli eventi più sentiti
e attesi dell’anno.
Il suo fulcro è la chiesa del Redentore, edificio
affacciato sull’ampio Canale della Giudecca e lo
scenografico bacino di San Marco.
L’antica tradizione risale al 1575 quando una devastante
epidemia di peste affligge l’intera città.
In seguito ad un voto popolare per la sua cessazione
il Senato decise per la costruzione di una
chiesa. L’incarico venne assegnato all’architetto
più famoso del tempo, Andrea Palladio
Dall’anno della consacrazione, era il 1592, ogni
terza domenica di luglio (e il sabato antecedente)
la festa di ringraziamento si ripete intrecciando i
due antichi valori che da sempre la identificano:
quello cristiano, distinto dal pellegrinaggio lungo
uno scenografico ponte galleggiante e dalla funzione
solenne celebrata dal Patriarca e l’aspetto
profano, rappresentato dalla suggestiva festa
sull’acqua culminante con l’ineguagliabile spettacolo
pirotecnico.

Parlando di attrazioni a Venezia diventa
poi inevitabile parlare di Biennale,
centenaria istituzione legata a
Venezia e alla promozione di grandi
eventi culturali.
Ecco allora nel periodo due importanti
manifestazioni.
La prima è la Mostra internazionale
d’Architettura, una sorta di straordinario
panorama legato all’attività
progettuale e sperimentale contemporanea
con un tema che oggi, ancor
più di sempre, tocca il mondo intero: il
rapporto tra uomo e pianeta.
Il laboratorio del futuro - questo il
titolo della Mostra centrale - ha puntato
così i riflettori, e questa è la prima
volta, sull’Africa, toccando inevitabilmente
tutto ciò che riguarda e produce
la sua diaspora.
Il percorso che prende inizio dal Padiglione Centrale ai Giardini, si snoda lungo il suggestivo
complesso dell’Arsenale giungendo fino al Forte Marghera, in terraferma, comprendendo
naturalmente le Partecipazioni nazionali, con singole mostre allestite nei Padiglioni
ai Giardini e all’Arsenale, oltre che nel centro storico della città.
Alla grande esposizione si affiancherà a partire dal 13 luglio (fino praticamente a tutto il
mese) il Festival internazionale di Danza Contemporanea, un appuntamento che non
mancherà di conquistare gli appassionati, ma anche tutti quelli che vorranno vivere in
città emozioni e scoprire punti di vista alternativi: il programma, suddiviso in cinque aree
tematiche, presenterà ben 7 prime mondiali, tra cui 3 prime europee e 9 italiane, con
artisti di spicco della danza mondiale e innovative voci emergenti.
Al panorama offerto dalla Musica, che agli spettacoli all’aperto della Piazza affiancherà
quelli promossi ancora dalla Fenice e da altre istituzioni cittadine e a quello proposto
da La Biennale con Architettura e Danza, si aggiunge infine quello rappresentato dalle
Mostre l’Arte.
Anche in questo caso le possibilità sono molte e variegate.
La novità è rappresentata da Imago Iustitiae. Capolavori attraverso i secoli, un’esposizione
da poco aperta presso le sale espositive del Museo Correr, in pratica un excursus
sull’iconografia usata nei secoli per rappresentare il tema della Giustizia approfondito
attraverso diverse sfaccettature e momenti storici.
Tra le mostre di spicco troviamo ancora l’esaustiva retrospettiva su Edmondo Bacci, artista
veneziano del Novecento, presentata dalla Collezione Peggy Guggenheim; le mostre
Chronorama e Icone proposte dalla Fondazione Pinault nelle sedi di Palazzo Grassi
e Punta della Dogana, rispettivamente sulla fotografia degli ex archivi Condé Nast e
sull’arte contemporanea. E ancora. L’esposizione Everybody Talks about the Weather
presentata dalla Fondazione Prada a Ca’ Corner della Regina, inedito progetto di ricerca
sulla correlazione tra arti visive e tempo meteorologico; quella dedicata alla potenzialità
dell’essere umano “A World of Potential” presso le Procuratie Vecchie; quella sull’opera
dell’innovativo architetto giapponese Kengo Kuma a Palazzo Franchetti; sul Vetro
boemo e sulla fotografia di Ugo Mulas, presso gli spazi della Fondazione Cini e infine,
quella presentata all’M9, Museo del Novecento, a Mestre, dedicata al maestro veneziano
dell’informale Emilio Vedova.
Ancora per l’arte, ma in questo caso museale, segnaliamo le allettanti aperture estive

JULY WITH THE REDEEMER, THE BIENNALE AND ART EXHIBITIONS
If the great concerts in Saint Mark’s Square shall not fail to attract a select audience of fans, an
equal amount of attention will go this month to certain events which are alone worth a visit to town.
Moreover, for those who love to relax, there is the summer attraction par excellence offered by the
seaside, the Lido beach in this case, famed for its poised elegance and its rather erstwhile charm.
All accompanied by an event which continues a centuries-old tradition, known as the Fête of the Redeemer,
amongst the most heartfelt and awaited events of the year still today. Its core is the Redentore
church, a building overlooking the broad Canal of the Giudecca and the scenic basin of Saint Mark.
This ancient tradition dates back to 1575, when a devastating plague epidemic afflicted the whole
city. Following a vow by the people so it could end, the Senate decided to build a church. The task was
assigned to the most famous architect at the time, Andrea Palladio.
Since the year of its consecration in 1592, this thanksgiving is repeated every third Sunday in July
(and on the prior Saturday), entwining the two ancient values which have always defined it, the Christian
one, characterised by its pilgrimage along a scenic floating-bridge and by a solemn Mass celebrated
by the Patriarch, and the lay aspect, represented by its suggestive fête on water, culminating
in its unparalleled fireworks display.
Speaking of attractions in Venice, it is inevitable to mention the Biennale, a centenary institution
linked to Venice and to the promotion of major cultural events.
Thus, here are two important events during this period. The first is the International Architecture
Exhibition, an exceptional overview featuring contemporary design and experimental endeavours,
with its theme of this year touching the whole world, today more than ever: the relationship between
mankind and the planet.
The laboratory of the future - the title of the central Exhibition - has thus focused its spotlight, and
for the first time, on Africa, inevitably touching on everything regarding and producing its diaspora.
The itinerary, starting from the Central Pavilion at the Giardini, meanders along the suggestive Arsenal
complex, as far as Forte Marghera on the mainland, naturally including national Participations
with individual exhibitions set up within the Pavilions at the Giardini and at the Arsenal, besides the
historic centre in town.
The Architecture Exhibition will be flanked from 13 July (practically until the month ends) by the
International Contemporary Dance Festival, a rendez-vous that shall not fail win over enthusiasts,
but also all those who wish to experience thrills in town and discover alternative points of view.
The programme, divided into five thematic areas, will present a good 7 world premieres, including
3 European ones, and 9 Italian premieres, with leading artists in worldwide dance and innovative
emerging voices.
Finally, the scenario offered by Music flanking the open-air events in the Piazza with the ones promoted
by the Fenice and other city institutions, and Architecture and Dance proposed by the Biennale,
adds to the scenario represented by Art Exhibitions.
In this case too, the opportunities are manifold and varied.
The most recent one is represented by Imago Iustitiae. Masterpieces through the centuries, an
exhibition which has recently opened at the Correr Museum exhibition venues: essentially, an itinerary
on the depiction used over the centuries to represent the theme of Justice, explored throughout
differing facets and historical moments.
Amongst prominent exhibitions, we may also find the exhaustive retrospective on Venetian Twentieth
century artist Edmondo Bacci presented by the Peggy Guggenheim Collection; the Chronorama and
Icons proposed by the Pinault Foundation at its venues in Palazzo Grassi and Punta della Dogana, respectively
on photography from the former Condé Nast archives and on contemporary art. And more.
The Everybody Talks about the Weather exhibition by the Prada Foundation at Ca’ Corner della Regina,
a novel research project on the correlation between visual arts and the weather; the one dedicated
to the potential of the human being, “A world of Potential” at the Old Procuratie; the one on the
work of innovative Japanese architect Kengo Kuma at Palazzo Franchetti; on Bohemian glass and on
photography by Ugo Mulas, both of them at the Cini Foundation venues and finally, the one presented
at the M9, 1900 Museum, in Mestre, dedicated to the Venetian master of the informal Emilio Vedova.
Also for art, but regarding museums in this case, we may point out appealing openings during summer
evenings promoted by the City Museums, which we are listing in the dedicated Museums column.

TESORI DA SCOPRIRE
Vivere la città vuol dire anche scoprire i suoi tesori d'arte, a volte celebrati dalla
storia, come lo sono quelli contenuti in un importante museo, a volte più nascosti
e forse meno noti, ma che ci fanno capire come la creatività dell'uomo
non ha tempo. Ecco allora tre valori, tre occasioni diverse, per vivere la città e
la bellezza dell’arte...
IL MUSEO DEL SETTECENTO VENEZIANO: UN'ATTESA RIAPERTURA
Grazie alla riapertura il 28 giugno di Ca’ Rezzonico Museo del Settecento Veneziano, la
città si riappropria di una vera e propria piazza pubblica, con il suo bel giardino, dove trascorrere
del tempo e condividere
esperienze culturali. Uno spazio
inclusivo e democratico, in cui tutti
possono accedere all'arte, alla storia
e alla conoscenza.
Dopo importanti interventi di restauro,
le nuove destinazioni d’uso
a piano terra vedono completamente
rifatti bookshop, biglietteria,
guardaroba e una sala di intrattenimento
con attività inclusive aperta
al pubblico, così come la caffetteria
che, rinnovata negli arredi, offre
l'affaccio sul Canal Grande.
In questo modo cittadini e visitatori
potranno intrattenersi in un nuova
hall museale aperta a tutti, progettata
non solo per incontrarsi ma
che regala un'anteprima alla visita
dei piani superiori.
Il percorso di visita al Museo inizia dall'imponente scalone d’onore progettato da Giorgio
Massari, sul lato opposto al Canal Grande.
Al primo piano, attraverso undici sale è possibile ammirare, dipinti, sculture, e arredi settecenteschi,
oltre ai preziosi affreschi decorativi dei soffitti.
Al secondo piano da non perdere sono la sala dedicata all’opera del Longhi e gli affreschi
staccati dalla Villa Zianigo eseguiti da Giandomenico Tiepolo.
Al terzo piano, infine, oltre ai tre ambienti della Farmacia Ai do San Marchi, è oggi ospitata
la preziosa Pinacoteca Egidio Martini.
Nel mese di luglio riprendono anche gli eventi temporanei con la mostra dedicata a Lino
Tagliapietra. I colori del vetro, nuova straordinaria retrospettiva che la Fondazione Berengo
e Berengo Studio in collaborazione con Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia presentano
dal 14 luglio al 30 settembre per celebrare la vita e il lavoro di uno dei più importanti maestri
di Murano.

TRA MODERNO E CONTEMPORANEO, ALLA BUGNO ART GALLERY
La seconda meta è la Bugno Art Gallery, una delle più rappresentative
gallerie d’arte veneziane, luogo ideale di ritrovo
tra artisti e appassionati d’arte, inserita tra due poli della cultura
veneziana, il Gran Teatro La Fenice e l’Ateneo Veneto.
Diretta con passione da oltre trent’anni da Massimiliano
Bugno si presenta su due spazi, la sede effettiva, affacciata
sul campo e un suggestivo spazio adiacente, denominato In
Corte. In quest’ultimo si presentano importanti retrospettive
ma anche personali di artisti affermati e mostre collettive.
E’ il caso di questo mese dove si può ammirare una selezione
di opere veneziane degli anni Cinquanta e Sessanta.
Sono maestri che hanno rappresentato nella seconda metà
del Novecento il rinnovamento di quell’ideale continuità
proveniente dalla grande tradizione.
Tra le opere troviamo quelle di noti maestri come Mario
Deluigi, Armando Pizzinato, Emilio Vedova (dei primi due
la galleria conserva i preziosi archivi) ma anche di maestri
come Saverio Rampin, esponente del movimento spazialista,
Vinicio Vianello, poliedrico artista-designer e Giancarlo
Franco Tramontin, oggi novantenne, considerato tra gli
scultori più affermati della città.
Alla mostra storica si affianca nella galleria centrale il Contemporaneo
con opere tra gli altri di Andrea Morucchio,
eclettico artista veneziano, che ha saputo unire fotografia al
video, fino alla performance e alla scultura, di Fabio Bianco, artista distinto da un linguaggio
denso di colore e luce; dei sudafricani Gavin Rain e Philip Barlow dove spiccano le
forme di neo-puntinismo (o pixelismo), fotorealismo e astrazione.

Fondato nel 2004 a Ginevra, Bel Air Fine Art è oggi uno dei principali gruppi di gallerie di
arte contemporanea internazionali. Dall'apertura il gruppo Bel-Air Fine Art si è insediato
nelle sedi più prestigiose della Svizzera come Crans-Montana, Zurigo, St Moritz e in Europa
a Parigi, Saint-Tropez, Venezia, Cannes e, più recentemente, Bruges.
Alla guida del gruppo, François e Grégory Chabanian, padre e figlio, galleristi e mercanti
d’arte, attribuiscono grande valore alla presentazione di una ricca selezione di artisti contemporanei
di fama internazionale ed emergenti, appartenenti a diversi movimenti artistici.

dedicato al maestro del surrealismo
Salvador Dalì.
Feuerman è inoltre protagonista, fino al 16
settembre, della mostra personale “Crossing

A TREASURE TO DISCOVER
Experiencing the city also means discovering its art treasures, honoured by
history at times, like the ones held by an important museum, more concealed
at times, and maybe less widely known, but letting us understand how
man's creativity is timeless. So, here are three values, three different chances
to experience town and the beauty of art…
THE VENETIAN EIGHTEENTH CENTURY MUSEUM: AN AWAITED REOPENING
Thanks to the reopening on 28 June
of the Ca' Rezzonico Museum of
the Venetian Eighteenth century,
the city is regaining possession
of an authentic public site, with its
lovely garden, in which to spend
time and share cultural experiences.
An inclusive and democratic
space, where everybody may access
art, history and knowledge.
After major restoration work, its intended
novel utilisation for the
ground floor features the totally
renovated bookshop, ticket-office,
cloakroom and a recreation room
with inclusive activities open to the
public, as well as the cafeteria with
renewed furnishings overlooking the
Grand Canal.
Thus residents and visitors may spend time within a brand new museum hall open to all,
not only designed for encounters, but offering a preview for visits on the upper floors.
The Museum circuit begins with the imposing grand-staircase designed by Giorgio Massari,
on the side opposite to the Grand Canal.
On the first floor it is possible to admire Eighteenth-century paintings, sculptures and furnishings
throughout eleven halls, as well as the exquisite decorative frescoes on the ceilings.
On the second floor, the room dedicated to Longhi's work, and to Gian Domenico Tiepolo's
frescoes, removed from Villa Zianigo, are not to be missed.
Finally, the third floor houses the valuable Egidio Martini Picture Gallery, in addition to the
three Ai do San Marchi Pharmacy rooms.
Temporary events are also resuming in the month of July, with the exhibition dedicated to
Lino Tagliapietra. The colours of glass, an extraordinary new retrospective which the Berengo
Foundation and Berengo Studio are presenting in collaboration with the Venice City
Museums Foundation, from 14 July to 30 September, to celebrate the life and work of one
of the most important Murano masters.

BETWEEN MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY AT THE BUGNO ART GALLERY
The second destination is the Bugno Art Gallery, one of the
most representative Venetian art galleries, an ideal meeting
place for artists and art lovers, between two hubs of Venetian
culture, La Fenice Grand Theatre and the Veneto Athenaeum.
Directed with passion for over thirty years by Massimiliano
Bugno, it presents itself over two areas, the actual
headquarters looking out onto the square, and a suggestive
adjacent space, named In Corte.
Important retrospectives are presented there, but also
showcases by established artists and collective exhibitions.
This is the case this month, when it is possible to admire a selection
of Venetian artworks from the Fifties and Sixties, by masters
who have represented a renewal within the ideal continuity
originating from a great tradition, throughout the latter half
of the Twentieth century. Works by well-known masters may
be found among them, such as Mario Deluigi, Armando Pizzinato,
Emilio Vedova (the gallery holds the first two's valuable
archives), but also masters like Saverio Rampin, an exponent of
the Spatialist movement, versatile artist-designer Vinicio Vianello
and Giancarlo Franco Tramontin, now ninety years old,
considered one of the most successful sculptors in town.
The historical display is flanked by the Contemporary in the
central gallery, with artworks by eclectic Venetian artist Andrea
Morucchio, who has been capable of combining photography and video up to performance
and sculpture, by Fabio Bianco, characterised by a language dense with colour and
light; by the South Africans Gavin Rain and Philip Barlow, where neo-pointillism (or pixellism),
photorealism and abstraction are conspicuous, among others.
THE "BEL-AIR FINE ART", A GALLERY IN THE WORLD
Founded in 2004 in Geneva, Bel-Air Fine Art is one of the main groups of international contemporary
art galleries nowadays. Since its inception, the Bel-Air Fine Art group has established
itself in the most prestigious locations in Switzerland such as Crans-Montana, Zurich and St.
Moritz, and in Europe in Paris, Saint-Tropez, Venice, Cannes and, more recently, Bruges.
Heading the group, father and son gallery owners and art dealers François and Grégory Chabanian
assign great value to the presentation of an ample selection of internationally renowned
and emerging contemporary artists, belonging to various artistic movements.
In Venice since 2016, Bel-Air entered the lagoon scenario with its galleries at Saint Mark, then
at Dorsoduro in 2018. Since May 2023, it
has consolidated its presence by opening
a third venue in town, also at Saint Mark, in
Calle dello Spezier, right in front of its first
historic location.
Here, Francesco and his team are proud
to present an exclusive selection of iconic
contemporary artists, such as Carole
Feuerman, Fred Allard, Mr Brainwash,
Jeff Koons, Santiago Montoya, and a space
dedicated to the master of surrealism,
Salvador Dalì.
Feuerman is also the protagonist, until 16

Sacro e natura in mostra alle Vatican Chapels.
Dieci grandi nomi internazionali della fotografia in
una mostra collettiva pensata per raccontare la

Taking part in a collective exhibition designed to
illustrate the relationship between spirituality

park, by as many world-famous architects, for the
occasion of the first Holy See Pavilion at the 2018
International Architecture Exhibition.

L'energia della luce.
Un’ottantina di opere, tra
dipinti e disegni inediti,
provenienti dall’Archivio
Edmondo Bacci, musei e
collezioni private nazionali
e internazionali, riportano idealmente
a Ca’ Venier dei Leoni l’artista
veneziano tanto caro a Peggy Guggenheim.
Curata da Chiara Bertola, la mostra si concentra
sul periodo più lirico e felice della produzione
di Bacci, ovvero gli anni ’50, che hanno segnato
il successo nonché la consacrazione dell’artista,
avvenuta nel 1958 nel corso della XXIX Biennale
Internazionale d’Arte di Venezia.
Tra le opere esposte quella che Alfred Barr, allora
direttore del Museum of Modern Art di New
York, acquistò nel 1953. La tela, nota come “Avvenimento
13 R”, oggi parte della collezione del museo
newyorkese, ritorna eccezionalmente in Italia,
per essere esposta per la prima volta al pubblico.
La mostra chiude con un'importante opera di
Giambattista Tiepolo, tributo alla tradizione pittorica
veneziana.

Capolavori attraverso i secoli.
Allestita negli spazi del Museo Correr, a partire
dalla splendida Sala della Biblioteca Pisani, questa
mostra si presenta come sintesi artistico-concettuale
del significato di Giustizia.
Attraverso sei sezioni, corrispondenti allo svilupparsi
della Figura allegorica, dagli albori delle civiltà
fino all’età moderna, vengono esposti reperti
archeologici, monete, medaglie, documenti e
opere realizzate da importanti artisti, dal Medioevo
al ‘900.
L’esposizione si conclude con una serie di scene
dedicate ad atti e protagonisti di Giustizia immortalati
come eroi e santi e da una selezione di tele
firmate da grandi artisti che raffigurano episodi
legati al tema.
Ideata e organizzata dal Centro Europeo per il Turismo
e la Cultura di Roma in sinergia con Fondazione
Musei Civici di Venezia, la mostra resterà
aperta al pubblico fino al 3 settembre.

Around eighty artworks, between unpublished
paintings and drawings, from the Edmondo Bacci
Archive, national and international museums
and private collections, ideally bringing back this
Venetian artist so dear to Peggy Guggenheim at
Ca' Venier dei Leoni.
By curator Chiara Bertola, the exhibition concentrates
on the most lyrical and happy period
in Bacci's production, or the 1950s, marking the
artist's success as well as his consecration, which
took place in 1958 during the 29th International
Art Biennale of Venice. Among the works
displayed, was the one which Alfred Barr, then
the director of the Museum of Modern Art in
New York, bought in 1953. This canvas, known
as "Event 13 R", and now part of the New York
museum collection, is returning exceptionally to
Italy to be exhibited in public for the first time.

Masterpieces through the ages.
This exhibition, set up within the Correr Museum
venues, beginning from the splendid Pisani Library
Hall, is presented as an artistic, conceptual
synthesis of the meaning of Justice.
Archaeological finds, coins, medals, documents
and artworks by important artists from the Middle
Ages to the 1900s, are on display through six
sections, corresponding to the development of
the allegorical Figure, from the dawn of civilizations
to the modern age. The exhibition ends with
a series of scenes dedicated to deeds and protagonists
of Justice immortalised as heroes and
saints, and a selection of canvases signed by great
artists depicting episodes related to this theme.
The exhibition, conceived and organised by the
European Centre for Tourism and Culture in Rome,
in synergy with the City Museums Foundation in
Venice, will remain open to the public until 3/9.

Ospitata al terzo piano delle Procuratie
Vecchie sede di The Human
Safety Net, fondazione creata dal
gruppo Generali con l’obiettivo di
offrire nuove potenzialità alle persone
vulnerabili, questa mostra interattiva curata
da Orna Cohen, si presenta come un viaggio
esperienziale dove il visitatore viene invitato ad
una sequenza di esperienze che aumenta la
propria auto-consapevolezza e al tempo stesso
la percezione del mondo.
Si inserisce nel percorso la nuova coinvolgente
installazione di Arthur Duff, “The Hungriest
Eye. The blossoming of Potential”, un nuovo
spazio collaborativo dove i visitatori potranno
partecipare alla creazione di un’opera d’arte,
espressione del loro potenziale. Ingresso presso
palazzo delle Procuratie Vecchie, (San Marco

• VETRO BOEMO: i grandi maestri.
Riaprono con una importante mostra dedicata al
vetro boemo, Le Stanze del Vetro, progetto culturale
pluriennale pensato e dedicato all’arte e al
design del vetro.
L’esposizione, realizzata in collaborazione con il
Museo di Arti Decorative di Praga, presenterà sei
grandi maestri della scultura contemporanea in
vetro, raccontando l'evoluzione, dopo la seconda
guerra mondiale, del vetro in Boemia: dalla
tradizionale categorizzazione di arte applicata e
decorativa a un utilizzo per la realizzazione di importanti
sculture astratte.

Sudek provenienti dalla serie Glass Labyrinths

Fondazione CMCC questo progetto tra arte e
scienza, mostra attraverso la fotografia d’autore

condizioni di alta temperatura e umidità, in Paesi
temperati e tropicali.

• A WORLD OF POTENTIAL
Hosted on the third floor at the Old Procuratie,
the headquarters of The Human Safety Net, a
foundation created by the Generali group with
the aim of offering new potential to vulnerable
persons, this exhibition, by curator Orna Cohen,
is presented as an experiential journey in which
visitors are invited into a sequence of experiences
which increase their self-awareness and the
perception of the world at the same time.
In the final part, visitors will be able to gather
information about the foundation’s activity and
to donate half of their ticket cost to one of the
programmes (freely chosen) managed by the
Foundation itself.
Arthur Duff’s new installation “The Hungriest
Eye. The blossoming of Potential" is part of the
circuit, as a new collaborative space where visitors
can take part in the creation of an artwork,
expressing their potential.

• BOHEMIAN GLASS: the great masters.
The Rooms of Glass are reopening with an important
exhibition dedicated to Bohemian glass, a
long-term cultural project dedicated to glass art
and design. The exhibition, organised in collaboration
with the Prague Museum of Decorative
Arts, will present six great masters of contemporary
glass sculpture, recounting the evolution
of glass in Bohemia after the Second World War:
from its traditional categorisation under applied
and decorative art, to its employment in the creation
of important abstract sculptures.
Twenty photographs by Josef Sudek from the
Glass Labyrinths series complete the circuit.

ABOUT THE WEATHER"
Nella sede veneziana di Ca’ Corner della
Regina la Fondazione Prada presenta
questo inedito progetto di ricerca ideato
dal curatore Dieter Roelstraete: una sorta
di esplorazione sui significati del tempo
meteorologico nel mondo dell’arte
visiva, ideale premessa per affrontare
l’emergenza climatica in corso.
Il percorso della mostra si compone di
una cinquantina di opere di artisti contemporanei

• EVERYBODY TALKS ABOUT THE WEATHER.
The Prada Foundation is presenting this novel
research project conceived by curator Dieter
Roelstraete at its Venetian headquarters of Ca’
Corner della Regina, a sort of exploration on
weather significance in the world of visual art,
as an ideal basis for facing the ongoing climate
emergency.
The exhibition circuit consists of around fifty artworks
by contemporary artists and a complementary
selection of historical works, rounded off by

Located within the venues of Palazzo Grassi,
this exhibition presents a series of photography
works in world premiere from the Condé Nast
archives, partly acquired recently by the Pinault
Collection.
It features over four hundred pictures created
by 150 important artists at an international level,
tracing an exciting path through events, social
phenomena and celebrities spanning the 20th
century, from the 1910s up to the early 1980s.
This nucleus of historical pictures is accompanied
by an ideal "Chronorama Redux" dialogue,
a project offering a contemporary viewpoint on
the "Chronorama” artworks through the work of
four artists: Tarrah Krajnak, Eric N. Mack, Giulia

an important exhibition dedicated to this
Venetian master of the informal is presenting
130 artworks, between installations and wall canvases,

Architectures for the stage.
For the occasion of the Architecture Biennale,
in this exhibition the Giorgio Cini Foundation is
illustrating the opus and the vision of architect,
designer and scenographer Luciano Baldessari,
an eclectic, free figure whose life and career as
a bold, anti-conformist experimenter crossed
historic 1900s Avantgardes between Europe and
the United States.
A corpus of drawings and projects, enhanced by
a singular layout, will be displayed next to the
Luminator lamp-dummy within the Manica Lunga

Anna Moro-Lin is one of the Fiber Art. protagonists,
the Textile Art developed since the Twentieth
century thanks to French artist Jean Lurçat, a

exhibition presents a nucleus of 20 of his artworks,
donated by the recently deceased artiste
to the Palazzo Mocenigo Museum, now home to

Musei Civici
Gestiti dalla Fondazione Musei Civici
di Venezia nota con l’acronimo
MUVE, rappresentano una parte, con oltre
700.000 opere d’arte, dell’immenso patrimonio
culturale della città.
Sono in tutto undici musei gestiti da un unico
sistema che MUVE valorizza anche attraverso
importanti mostre d’arte.
Tra questi quelli di Palazzo Ducale, del Correr,
di Ca’ Pesaro, di Ca’Rezzonico…
L’ingresso alle sedi può avvenire con un singolo
biglietto o tramite il sistema del circuito
“Museum Pass” o del percorso integrato dei
“Musei di San Marco”.

Cinque in città e tre nel territorio veneziano,
i musei gestiti dal Ministero
della Cultura – Direzione regionale Musei -
fanno parte di un sistema museale che riunisce

Chiese e Scuole di devozione, queste
ultime antiche istituzioni della città, fanno
anch’esse parte del patrimonio museale
della città.
Tra queste, per importanza, troviamo in assoluto
la basilica di San Marco, con il suo
prezioso museo, le monumentali basiliche
dei Frari e dei SS Giovanni e Paolo; le Scuole
grandi, veri scrigni d’arte, di San Rocco, di
San Giovanni Evangelista, dei Carmini, di San
Giorgio dei Greci; e ancora, tra i musei, quello
Ebraico e quello Ellenico.

Sono molti e importanti i musei sparsi
nel territorio dell’entroterra veneziano.
A questi si aggiungono le ville venete,
straordinari esempi di sintonia tra architettura,
arte e paesaggio. Come per i musei anche
qui il panorama è vastissimo. Ne accenniamo
(purtroppo) solo in parte.
VENICE AND ITS MUSEUMS
Few cities in Italy (and in Europe) may boast a museum scenario
like this city’s. Set inside fine palaces and ancient abodes
within a radius of a few hundred metres, they are an integral
part of the huge cultural heritage the city assimilated over its
centuries of history.
But how to choose a museum, or museums, to most attract
one’s curiosity and desire for knowledge? Here in brief, is how
to find your way around.
Information in detail follows instead about the major ones.
City Museums
Managed by the Venice City Museums Foundation
known by its acronym MUVE, they represent a part of
the city’s huge cultural heritage, with over 700,000 artworks.
Eleven museums in total, run by a single body, boosted by
MUVE also with notable art exhibitions.
They include the Ducal Palace, the Correr, Ca’Pesaro, Ca’Rezzonico…
Entry to such venues is by a single ticket, or the
“Museum Pass” circuit system, or the “Saint Mark’s Museums”
integrated circuit.
State Museums
Five in town and three in Venetian territory, these
museums managed by the Ministry of Culture - Regional
Directorate for Museums - are part of a museum system
featuring some of the area’s top museums, including the
Galleries of the Accademia and the Giorgio Franchetti Gallery
in Venice among others, and Villa Pisani in Stra along the
Brenta Riviera.
Other museums
This section lists privately-managed museums or
ones run by individual Foundations. We may here
mention for importance the Peggy Guggenheim Collection;
the Querini Stampalia Picture-Gallery; the Palazzo Cini collections.
Churches, Devotion Schools
and religious museums
Churches and devotion schools, the latter being ancient
town guilds, are also part of the city’s museum heritage.
Among them, for importance, we find the basilica of Saint
Mark at the very top with its precious museum, the monumental
basilicas of the Frari and of Saints Giovanni & Paolo;
the Scuole Grandi of San Rocco, San Giovanni Evangelista, the
Carmini, San Giorgio dei Greci, true art coffers; plus the Jewish
and the Hellenic ones among the museums.
Museums and Villas on the territory
The Museums spread over the Venetian hinterland
territory are many, and important. In addition there
are the Veneto villas, exceptional examples of harmony amid
architecture, art and landscape. As with the museums, this
scenario is also quite vast. We are (unfortunately) mentioning
just a part.

The ancient seat of Government and Justice and the Doge’s residence
from the 9th century to the fall of the Republic. It is possible inside
to visit the Greater Council, the Senate and the Collegium halls, decorated

IL PALAZZO VAN AXEL
I palazzi veneziani erano detti “ca’”, la forma
abbreviata di “casa”. Nell’ottica della Repubblica
veneta si sottolineava così come l’abitazione
privata fosse, per quanto ricca e opulente,
sempre meno importante dell’edificio
pubblico. Ecco che l’unico “palazzo” a Venezia
con tale denominazione era il Palazzo del governo,
il Palazzo Ducale.
Durante le nostre visite guidate, abbiamo
l’occasione di farvi conoscere dall’interno alcune
di queste case, alcune trasformate in
musei, altre ancora oggi di proprietà privata.
Il Palazzo van Axel nel sestiere di Cannaregio,
in uno degli angoli più raccolti e magici della
città di Venezia, è uno di questi. Il palazzo
è un magnifico edificio gotico di quasi 4000
metri quadri vicino a campo Santi Giovanni e
Paolo e a quel gioiello del Rinascimento che
è la chiesa di Santa Maria dei Miracoli. Oggetto
di un restauro molto accurato, il palazzo
è aperto alle nostre visite. Visiteremo il
magnifico pianterreno con le sue corti. Qui vi
aspettano vere da pozzo in marmo, antichi
sarcofagi, fregi, scale a cielo aperto, patere
bizantine e la porta d’acqua, nonché i resti di
coloratissimi affreschi.
Costruito nella seconda metà del Quattrocento,
il palazzo fu proprietà della famiglia
Soranzo e dal 1652 divenne la dimora della
famiglia van Axel, ricchi mercanti fiamminghi,
a cui fu intitolata anche la Fondamenta
adiacente. Il portale dalla riva è già un’attrazione:
in legno intagliato, con teste di leone,
una finestrella con grata in ferro.

The van Axel palace is one of those jewels
we are happy to show you. Located in the district
of Cannaregio, in one of those hidden and
magical corners of Venice, this building is a wonderful
gothic construction of the 1470s. Nearly
4000 square meters large, the house is not too
far from the magnificent square of Campo Santi
Giovanni e Paolo and the marvelous church of
Santa Maria dei Miracoli. The palace was recently
restored with great accuracy and attention towards
its unique architecture. We will visit the
ground floor and its courtyards. You will then
admire the marble well-heads, ancient sarcofagi,
the byzantine and gothic friezes, the staircases in
the open air, the medallions, the water entrance,
not to mention the remains of colorful frescoes.
Built in the late 15th century, the palace
belonged to the family Soranzo.
The palace was eventually handed over
to the Flemish family van Axel in 1652,
rich merchants who were able to acquire
the position of Venetian aristocracy
members in the same years.

A VENEZIA
Venezia è una città-isola, o meglio, è una città formata da una moltitudine
di piccolissime isole (circa 110): una configurazione praticamente unica al
mondo. Il suo accesso sembrerebbe quindi complesso. Ma così non è.
Venezia mantiene un “cordone ombelicale” con il mondo, o meglio con la
terraferma (come i veneziani chiamano tutto ciò che è fuori dall’isola).
Questo è il ponte della Libertà, un tempo chiamato Littorio, dal periodo della
sua costruzione, gli anni Trenta.
La sua origine è però antecedente e risale a metà Ottocento, esattamente al
1846 data dell’inaugurazione della linea ferroviaria Milano-Venezia.
Da quel tempo, la città diventò raggiungibile non solo via acqua ma anche via
terra… sarà una svolta epocale.
Ma ecco in breve oggi, quali sono i principali punti di accesso alla città.
GETTING TO VENICE
Venice is an island-city, or rather, it is a city made up of a multitude of tiny islands (about 110): a configuration
that is practically unique in the world. Accessing it would thus seem complex. But this is not the case.
Venice maintains an “umbilical cord” with the world, or rather with the mainland (as the Venetians call
everything off the island). It is the Libertà Bridge, once called Littorio from its construction period, the 1930s.
However, its origin is earlier and dates back to the mid-nineteenth century, precisely to 1846, the inauguration
date of the Milan-Venice railway line. Since then, the city not only became accessible by water but also by land…
it would be the turning point of an era. But here are the main access points to the city today, in brief.

I TERMINAL - GLI ACCESSI VIA TERRA
PIAZZALE ROMA
E’ lo storico terminal automobilistico di Venezia
dove spiccano le due grandi autorimesse pubbliche:
il Garage San Marco e il Garage Comunale
AVM (quest’ultimo con un’area predisposta anche
alle biciclette).
Il vasto Piazzale, di recente collegato da un moderno
ponte pedonale alla Stazione ferroviaria (il ponte
della Costituzione), fa attualmente da riferimento
al servizio di collegamento urbano ed extraurbano
con la terraferma.
Da qui arrivano e si diramano le corse dei servizi
pubblici (Actv e Atvo) e privati (taxi) che collegano
Venezia alla città metropolitana e ai due aeroporti,
quello di Tessera e di Treviso.
Un servizio su monorotaia (People Mover) collega
inoltre Piazzale Roma all’isola del Tronchetto.
L’ISOLA DEL TRONCHETTO
Allacciata da una “bretella” al ponte automobilistico,
ospita il Venezia Tronchetto Parking (uno dei
più grandi garage in Europa) dove possono trovare
posto quasi 4000 mezzi compresi camper e
motociclette.
Al suo esterno, a pochi metri, si trovano gli imbarcaderi
dai quali si dipartono le linee del servizio pubblico
Actv (Linea 2) e privato per il cuore della città.
Una linea speciale denominata People Moover
collega in pochi minuti l’isola al terminal automobilistico
di Piazzale Roma.
L’isola ospita inoltre un porticciolo e il casello di
accesso al servizio di Ferry-boat della linea 17 di
Actv che collega il Tronchetto alle isole del Lido
e di Pellestrina.
LA STAZIONE FERROVIARIA DI SANTA LUCIA
Situata in posizione ideale, questa primaria porta
di accesso alla città, posta al termine del ponte
della Libertà si affaccia all’ultimo lembo del
Canal Grande.
Qui sono disposti gli imbarcaderi da dove si diramano
le principali linee Actv per la città e le isole:
la linea 1 (tutte le fermate) e 2 (diretta) per il Canal
Grande e il Canale della Giudecca; la 4.1 e 4.2; 5.1
e 5.2 (circolari) per laguna nord e Murano).
Alla stazione di recente ammodernata e ampliata
con servizi e centri commerciali, arrivano tutte le
linee veloci che collegano Venezia alle principali
città italiane ed europee.
TERMINALS - ACCESS VIA LAND
PIAZZALE ROMA
It is the historic car terminal in Venice, where two
big public garages stand out: the San Marco Garage
and the AVM Municipal Garage (the latter
also has an area for bicycles).
This large Square, linked recently to the railway
station by a modern pedestrian bridge (the Costituzione
Bridge), is currently the hub for urban
and extra-urban connection services with the
mainland.
Public (Actv and Atvo) and private (taxis) services
arrive and go from here, connecting Venice to its
metropolitan city and the two airports of Tessèra
and Treviso.
A monorail service (People Mover) also connects
Piazzale Roma to the Tronchetto island.
THE TRONCHETTO ISLAND
Connected to the automobile bridge by a flyover,
it houses the Venezia Tronchetto Parking (one
of the largest garages in Europe), where almost
4000 vehicles may be accommodated, including
camper vans and motorcycles.
Outside, a few metres away, are the boat-stops
from where public ACTV service (Line 2) and private
lines depart for the heart of the city.
A special train line called People Mover links this
island to the Piazzale Roma cars terminal in just
a few minutes.
The island also hosts a small port and toll-booth
for boarding the Actv Ferry-boat line 17 service,
linking Tronchetto to the Lido and Pellestrina islands.
THE SANTA LUCIA RAILWAY STATION
Ideally located, this primary gateway to the city
at the end of the Libertà Bridge overlooks the
last stretch of the Grand Canal.
Here are the boat stops from where the main
ACTV lines lead to the city and the islands: lines 1
(all stops) and 2 (direct) for the Grand Canal and
the Giudecca Canal; n. 4.1 and 4.2; 5.1 and 5.2 (circle)
for the northern lagoon and Murano.
All the rapid lines connecting Venice to the main
Italian and European cities arrive at this station,
recently modernised and enlarged with services
and shopping hubs.

AEROPORTO MARCO POLO - VENEZIA
Posto ai lembi della laguna nord di Venezia, a circa
13 chilometri dalla città è oggi il terzo aeroporto
per numero di passeggeri in Italia.
Gestito dalla società Save e ampliato nel 2017 è
oggi dotato di una vasta area di servizi, oltre che
di parcheggi e collegamenti con mezzi pubblici
sia via terra che via acqua gestiti rispettivamente
dalle compagnie Atvo (con un servizio Shuttle su
Piazzale Roma) e Alilaguna con motoscafi diretti
sul centro città e le isole.
Vi operano numerose compagnie aeree con una
folta rete di voli nazionali e internazionali.
AEROPORTO ANTONIO CANOVA - TREVISO
wNato come scalo per voli charter e cargo l’aeroporto
di Treviso grazie ad importanti investimenti
che hanno di recente ampliato pista ed aerostazione
è a tutti gli effetti tra i maggiori aeroporti
della regione Veneto.
Posto a pochi chilometri dalla città di Treviso e circa
a trenta dalla città di Venezia oggi fa da base
ad una delle massime compagnie internazionali
Low Cost. Gestito dalla stessa società dell’aeroporto
veneziano è collegato con la città tramite la
linea Shuttle di Atvo.

AEROPORTO NICELLI - LIDO DI VENEZIA
Tra i più suggestivi aeroporti italiani, esempio perfettamente
conservato di architettura degli anni
Trenta, l’aeroporto Nicelli è noto come il più antico
scalo commerciale italiano, e considerato da una
speciale classifica, tra le più belle superfici aeroportuali
al mondo.
La sua pista in erba fa oggi da scalo ad elicotteri e
piccoli aerei charter e privati con motori ad elica.
Posto in un’estremità dell’isola del Lido è raggiungibile
via acqua con linee private o il servizio ferry-boat
della linea 17 Actv.

MARCO POLO AIRPORT - VENICE
Located on the edge of Venice’s northern lagoon,
about 13 kilometres from town, today
it is the third airport in terms of passenger
numbers in Italy. Managed by the Save company
and expanded in 2017, it is now equipped with a
vast services area, as well as parking and public
transport links both by land and by water, managed
respectively by Atvo (with a Shuttle service
to Piazzale Roma), and Alilaguna with direct motor-launches
to the city centre and its islands.
Several airlines operate there, with a large network
of national and international flights.
ANTONIO CANOVA AIRPORT - TREVISO
Born as a hub for charter and cargo flights,
thanks to major investments which have recently
expanded its runway and terminal Treviso airport
is effectively one of the major airports in the
Veneto region.
Located a few kilometres from the city of Treviso
and about thirty from the city of Venice, today it
is a base for one of the leading international Low
Cost companies. Managed by the same company
as the Venetian airport, it is connected to the city
by an Atvo Shuttle busline.
NICELLI AIRPORT - LIDO OF VENICE
One of the most evocative Italian airports, a perfectly
preserved example of 1930s architecture,
the Nicelli airport is known as the oldest Italian
commercial airport, and deemed by a special
ranking to be one of the most beautiful airport
areas worldwide. Its grass runway is now a hub
for helicopters and small charter and private
planes with propeller engines.
Located at one end of the Lido island, it may be
reached by water with private taxis or by the
ACTV Ferry-boat line 17 service.

A VENEZIA
Sono molte le opportunità per girare e scoprire Venezia.
La prima scelta, forse la migliore, è senza dubbio – grazie alle sue distanze ridotte
- quella di muoversi a piedi. A volte però, la mancanza di tempo, i bagagli pesanti e,
non ultimo, l’impossibilità fisica di attraversare la laguna diventa comodo, oltre che
piacevole dal punto di vista paesaggistico, salire a bordo di un mezzo di trasporto.
Nella città lagunare non esistono bus, ne metro, ne auto-taxi e… nemmeno biciclette.
Ecco allora che i mezzi di trasporto pubblici sono vaporetti o battelli (così li chiamano
da un vecchio retaggio i veneziani) e motoscafi veloci, chiamati “lance”, che fanno la
funzione dei taxi, fino ad arrivare a quel mezzo, tra i più iconici al mondo, che per secoli
ha contraddistinto il trasporto di persone lungo i rii (canali) della città: la gondola.
Ecco qualche nota a riguardo per chi appunto, appena arrivato a Venezia, volesse
spostarsi usando i mezzi di navigazione.

IL SERVIZIO DI TRASPORTO PUBBLICO
ACTV
E’ l’Azienda del Consorzio Trasporti Veneziano.
La sua flotta di imbarcazioni raggiunge ogni punto
della città, comprese le isole maggiori.
Autobus e tram collegano invece il terminal di
Piazzale Roma alla città metropolitana.
Una linea speciale, la 17, collega invece con una
spola di ferry-boat il Terminal automobilistico del
Tronchetto, all’isola del Lido e, a proseguire, quella
di Pellestrina.
Dal 2020 ACTV sta investendo sul trasporto “green”
puntando ad inserire lungo la principale via
d’acqua della città, il Canal Grande, i primi mezzi
a propulsione elettrica eliminando così sia l’inquinamento
acustico che quello dell’aria, favorendo
allo stesso tempo, la riduzione del moto ondoso.

ALILAGUNA
La compagnia nasce come servizio di collegamento
acqueo tra l’Aeroporto Marco Polo e i punti
focali della città: i terminal del Tronchetto, di Piazzale
Roma e della Stazione, le zone di San Marco e
di Rialto, le isole della Giudecca, del Lido e di Murano.
La rete di navigazione è costituita da quattro
linee (più una turistica) contraddistinte ognuna da
un colore.
I biglietti si possono acquistare oltre che online,
presso le biglietterie Alilaguna.

MOVING IN VENICE
The opportunities for getting around and discovering
Venice are many.
A first choice, maybe the best, is no doubt -
thanks to its short distances - to move on foot.
But sometimes, due to lack of time, heavy luggage
and, last but not least, the physical impossibility
of crossing the lagoon, it is comfortable,
as well as pleasant from a scenic point of view, to
board a transport vehicle.
There are no buses, no metro, no car-taxis in the
lagoon city… nor bicycles.
Thus, public transport boats are vaporetti or battelli
(traditionally so called by Venetians of yore)
and fast motor-launches, called “lance”, which act
as taxis, ending with one of the most iconic vehicles
worldwide, which has characterised people’s
transport along the city canals for centuries: the
gondola.
Here are a few notes for those who, having just
arrived in Venice, wish to move around by navigation.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT SERVICE
ACTV
It is the Consorzio Trasporti Veneziano Company.
Its boat fleet reaches every part of town, including
its major islands.
Buses and trams instead link the Piazzale Roma
terminal to its metropolitan city.
Special line n. 17 links Tronchetto car-terminal to
the Lido island by a ferry-boat shuttle, and further
on to Pellestrina island.
Since 2020, ACTV has been investing in “green”
transport, aiming at its first electrically-powered
vehicles along the main city waterway, the Grand
Canal, eliminating both noise and air pollution
and favouring a wave motion reduction at the
same time.

ALILAGUNA
This company was born as a water-link service
between Marco Polo Airport and focal points in
town: the Tronchetto, Piazzale Roma and Railway
terminals, the Saint Mark and Rialto areas, the Giudecca,
Lido and Murano islands. The navigation
network consists of four lines (+ a tourist one),
each marked by a colour.
Tickets may be purchased at Alilaguna ticket offices,
as well as online.
