New Season at The Hub
Anew season of entertainment promises energetic standing
gigs, a marvellous family exhibition, top-notch comedy,
theatre and cabaret.
The season kicks off with a fabulous free exhibition, Journey into
Marvel (8th Aug – 14th Oct). Get up close and personal with the
characters we all know and love as we explore the incredible world
of Marvel Comics. There’s a display of original published pages, along
with re-imaginations of classic covers and some original Marvel UK
comics. There will also be workshops and themed activities for the
whole family to enjoy.
The Hub’s standing gigs have proved so popular that there’s more
this autumn. The NE Street Band (15th Sept) offers a deep dive into
Bruce Springsteen’s back catalogue; Alex Ohm’s New Sounds (13th
Oct) celebrates the rich variety of up-and-coming Midlands
musicians; A Band Called Malice (27th Oct) delivers an authentic and
energetic tribute to The Jam; and Chasing Mumford (17th Nov)
effortlessly capture the energy of the folk-rock festival sound – sure
to delight Mumford fans and indie-folk lovers alike.
Music and Christmas go hand in glove and we’ve lined-up
something for everyone’s musical tastes. Celebrate the magic of
Christmas with A Holly Dolly Christmas (25th Nov), a sensational
tribute to the legendary Dolly Parton; Familiarity (8th & 9th Dec), is
a festive acoustic concert-come-theatre show with beautiful
melodies, close harmonies and soulful renditions of folk inspired
songs; The Highly Strung Quartet return to The Hub for Seasonal
Strings (10th Dec), with plenty of Carols and popular festive pop hits.
Expect some more well-known classics and festive favourites at the
John Rutter Christmas Concert (17th Dec); and join live band Ruby
Bridge for a festive night like no other at our Christmas Party Night
(22nd Dec).
Comedy and variety evenings are back with a bang with the
glittery comedy cabaret Flat and The Curves (16th Sept). This braburning
evening of mischief celebrates sex and sisterhood. Expect
big voices and bold statements in this sparkly spectacle filled to the
brim with hilarity and full-frontal vulgarity!
The Hub’s very own Alter Comedy Club (27th Sept, 8th Nov &
6th Dec) will bring you more of the
best award-winning acts. Don’t miss

Cabaret (28th Oct & 16th Dec) –

If theatre is your thing, Pepper and
Honey (12th Oct), questions the
meaning of home. Written by a
Croatian playwright and performed
by a Croatian actor, it is timed to perfection in order to deliver a
perfect Croatian pepper biscuit, as
the live baking process is
intertwined with the story of what
it’s like to settle in a new country.
Piaf to Pop (21st Sept), is a sexy and
delicious celebration of the
development of French music from
the Golden Age of French song to
the Swinging Sixties, presented by
award-winning performer Christine
Bovill.
There’s also a literary moment in
October with two author talks.
Disturbance (11th Oct) by Jenna
Clarke was published earlier this year. ‘Propulsive and wry, this razorsharp
debut twists witchcraft and horror into a powerful narrative
of one woman’s struggle to return to herself.’ There’s also Your Child
is not broken, (19th Oct), is a no-holds barred account of parenting
neurodivergent children from Heidi Mavir.
