reserved for the pages of science<br />
fiction or speculative prose is now very<br />
much a reality. Electric vehicles are<br />
on our roads, and their numbers are<br />
increasing with every passing day. The debate around<br />
whether they are the true answer to making transport<br />
more environmentally friendly is something that will<br />
be parked for this feature, we only want to focus on<br />
the development of the sector – specifically how it is<br />
infiltrating the world of RVs and leisure vehicles. It<br />
seems a long time ago now since the very first concept<br />
drawings of the Volkswagen ID. Buzz entered the<br />
public consciousness. Today, you can see these vehicles<br />
on the road, almost to the extent that they don’t even<br />
turn your head anymore. Electric vehicles are a normal<br />
and commonplace thing, and pretty soon that will be<br />
the case on the campsite as well.<br />
While models like the ID. Buzz and similar electric<br />
van efforts from the likes of Mercedes and Fiat are<br />
now out in the market, the take-up by OEM converters<br />
and even end-user converters has been quite slow. For<br />
the moment at least, the issues surrounding reduced<br />
range when compared to combustion engines seems to<br />
be a dam holding back the tide of electric campervans<br />
and motorhomes. But that dam is leaking, and soon<br />
