Art Gallery & Museum
fundraising strategy
Council has put the final
brushstrokes on its six-year
plan to maximise opportunities
by local creatives to showcase
arts and culture, to support
public art and to continue
growing creative spaces. The
new Manly Art Gallery and
Museum Fundraising Strategy
will target raising funds that
contribute to the development
and exposure of the arts and
culture sector not only on
the Beaches but wider afield.
Mayor Sue Heins said previously
the capacity for local
government to provide for arts
and culture had traditionally
been limited to self-funding,
income generating activities,
grants from other levels of
government, and business
partnerships. MAG&M – which
is celebrating its centenary
of collections in 2024 – is the
oldest metropolitan purposebuilt
regional gallery in NSW;
it’s both a proud gallery and
museum with a nationally
significant collection of over
5,000 objects including painting,
ceramics, works on paper,
photographs, museum objects,
documents and public art.
Council is also considering
participation in the Sydney
Film Festival, Sydney Writers
Festival, Festival of Sydney
and VIVID.
Bands in 50 years
of making music
It’s the 50th Anniversary of the
Avalon Public School Band Program,
and they are celebrating
with a Gala Night and Concert
on Thursday 14 September.
