Warriewood Flower Power sell-off
A
comprehensive overhaul of the Flower
Power Garden Centres on the Northern
Beaches could see its Warriewood site
on Macpherson Street bulldozed to make
way for 53 new dwellings, with construction
likely to commence in late 2025.
Meanwhile Flower Power’s Terrey Hills
site on Mona Vale Road is slated for expanded
development.
A $36 million Development Application
for 43 attached dwellings and 10 separate
houses is now in the hands of
the State Planning Panel North.
In a statement, Flower
Power’s Chief Executive Officer
John Sammut said the
decision to develop the Warriewood
site was “not an easy
choice”.
“Over the last four years,
following the overwhelming
success of our new garden
centre concept at Milperra, Flower Power’s
strategic direction has shifted toward
redeveloping each of our garden centres,”
Mr Sammut explained.
“For those who haven’t yet visited Milperra,
it offers a unique and modern take
on the traditional garden centre, featuring
plenty of space to accommodate extended
product ranges and inspirational displays,
plus a cafe, fruit market, pet store and
the proposed development
in Macpherson
St Warriewood; the
terrace-style attached
houses.
pool and spa shop.
“We look forward to rolling out this new
model across our stores.”
He said extensive site evaluations had
determined that the Warriewood site’s
limited size and existing zoning made it
unsuitable for redevelopment to Flower
Power’s current model.
“Terrey Hills, however, has a far larger
site with more favourable zoning, making
it the perfect candidate for redevelopment,”
he said.
“As a result, and in order to make the
most of the opportunity at Terrey Hills,
we made the difficult decision to sell the
Warriewood site.
“As a Northern Beaches local myself,
alongside my late father Nick, who was
Flower Power’s founder, this was not an
easy choice.
“I love the rustic character of the Warriewood
store and have always appreciated
seeing our local customers enjoying it, too.
“However, the redevelopment of Terrey
Hills will allow us to offer all of our
Northern Beaches customers a cuttingedge
garden centre with a new ambience,
an improved range of plants and products
and some exciting new retail partners.
“As a business, we are really excited to
deliver this state-of-the-art experience to
you in the near future.”
Mr Sammut added the Warriewood
Garden Centre would remain open while
development works took place at Terrey
Hills.
“At this stage, we expect these works to
be completed by mid-2025.”
The subdivision site is within the existing
Warriewood Valley Urban Land Release
Area.
