SUMNER’S SENIOR prizegiving
belonged to the Wave,
with the club’s premier side
taking out the big awards
at Friday night’s end of
season event.
First-year coach Gareth
D’almeida took home the Lloyd
Douglas Trophy for senior
coach of the year for his efforts
leading the Wave.
D’almedia had previously
tasted success with Sumner’s
colts side in 2020 and 2021, and
guided the Wave to playoffs
for just the second time in the
team’s history.
As a result, the Wave also
took out the Shagged Rock
Trophy for senior team of the
year.
The team finished the season
with nine wins and five losses –
a massive improvement on last
year’s three wins.
Lyttelton
gets new
bus route
to airport
A NEW bus route to Lyttelton
will begin operating from
Monday.
Route 8 – Port to Port/Airport
to Lyttelton will replace the
Casebrook to Lyttelton (Route 28).
It is one of two news routes
announced by Environment
Canterbury last week. The
second, Route 27 – Northwood
to Huntsbury, will replace the
existing Bryndwr to Huntsbury
service (Route 17).
“We are excited to be launching
these two new enhanced Metro
services,” said ECan public
transport general manager
Stewart Gibbon.
“We have engaged with the
community about these new
services, and there is strong buyin.”
The route changes were
approved in May last year
following consultation with
the public, including regular
passengers of the existing routes.
Route 8 – Port to Port will
connect Christchurch Airport
with the central city and
Lyttelton. On weekdays, the
service runs every 15 minutes.
Hammond painting breaks $1m mark
Late artist
now ‘all
time great’
• By Rachel Maher
AN ARTWORK by late
Lyttelton artist Bill Hammond
was sold with a huge milliondollar
price tag on Monday.
Melting
Moments 1 sold
for $1.715 million
at a Webb’s
auction event – a
new record for
Hammond.
It was sold to
an online bidder
after the auction
was over.
Bill
Hammond
The painting, an acrylic on
canvas work measuring roughly
1.6 x 2.1 metres, was expected to
fetch around $1.5-$2 million.
The most expensive piece of art
to be sold in New Zealand was ‘Is
there anything of which one can
say look this is new?’ by Colin
McCahon, which sold for $2.45
million at auction in September
2022.
Another Colin McCahon piece
POPULOUS: Melting Moments 1 by the late Bill Hammond sold for $1.715 million at an
auction on Monday.
sold at Monday’s auction for
$173,000.
Even though the painting did
not break the record, Charles
Ninow, the director of art at
Webb’s auction house, said it is
“incredibly rare” for a painting
to be sold for that price in the
New Zealand market.
“Very, very, very few paintings
have sold to those sorts of
figures,” Ninow said.
“This is the first painting by
Hammond that’s achieved more
than a million dollars and it
cements him as one of the alltime
greats.
“Melting Moments I is
a museum-level work of
national significance. Its detail,
storytelling and sheer presence
are representative of one of our
most important artists at the
height of his artistic powers.”
On Webb’s auction house
website, it explained Melting
Moments 1 was painted by
Hammond a decade after his
1989 trip to the Auckland
Islands.
“Melting Moments 1,
Hammond presents us
with a busy, populous, noisy
habitat, in which the cacophony
of birdsong is drowned out by
clanging bells and aeroplanes,”
the website states.
“The composition is inhabited
by Hammond’s now iconic
mythical creatures — half
human, half bird, which first
appeared in his paintings in
1993.”
Other highlights of the auction
included Brent Wong’s The
Bequest, selling for $173,000,
$30,000 above the estimated
price.
Hammond was born in 1947
and attended Canterbury’s
University’s Ilam School of Fine
Arts in the middle of the 1960s.
Towards the end of the
decade he graduated and
started making and selling
wooden toys while living in
Lyttelton.
Although he didn’t start
exhibiting his artwork until
the 1976, he quickly rose
to prominence, eventually
becoming one of New Zealand’s
most celebrated painters during
his lifetime and one of the few
to win acclaim outside of our
borders.
His star has continued to
climb since his death in January
2021, firmly establishing him as
one of our genuine “blue chip”
artists.
Cathedral’s youngest ever dean
is ‘delighted and humbled’
CHRIST CHURCH Cathedral
has appointed its youngest-ever
dean - 37-year-old Reverend
Canon Ben Truman.
Truman is set to leave his
current role as the Vicar of
Opawa-St Martins (St Mark’s,
Opawa) to take up the job.
Bishop Peter Carrell said
Truman’s appointment ushers
in a “new era of leadership, fresh
perspectives, and a
commitment to fostering a
strong sense of family and
community within the heart of
Christchurch”.
The dean is responsible for
the worship and ministry at
the Cathedral and leadership
of its mission to the city of
Christchurch, which is currently
undertaken at the Transitional
Cathedral.
Said Carrell: “Ben brings
to the role huge intelligence,
a warm and approachable
manner, and theological and
pastoral insight into the ways of
God in relation to humanity.
“He’s already a proven leader
in our diocese and for seven
years has been a Canon of the
Christ Church
SMILES: Reverend Canon Ben Truman with wife, Johannah, and children - Thomas, Toby and Edward.
Cathedral Chapter, the
governing body of the
cathedral.
“The cathedral is focused on
being available for all kinds
of special and civic occasions,
alongside diocesan events. Ben
is very familiar with the values
and aspirations of our cathedral
community.
“He also understands the
importance of nurturing both
the spiritual and familial bonds
that unite the Christchurch
community,” said Bishop Peter.
Truman is a devoted family
man. He and his wife Johannah
have three children - Edward, 4,
Toby, 2, and Thomas, 1.
Truman said he is “delighted
and humbled to be serving in
this role at such an
important time in the
cathedral’s history”.
“The cathedral is a place
where all people can feel
spiritually at home,” he said.
“I am excited about reestablishing
the cathedral in the
Square as central to the heart of
the city and the Diocese.
“I want the cathedral to
be an inclusive space for
everyone, a place of welcome
and hospitality, irrespective of
people’s faith or beliefs.
“We are more than halfway
through the cathedral’s rebuild.
“In four years’ time it will
reopen its doors and continue
to play its key part in our city’s
identity.”
Truman grew up in
Greymouth. He said he felt the
call to the ministry even at high
school. But first he worked as a
high school drama teacher and
spent three years at Burnside
Brigade’s first motorised engine
sometimes required a push
In the lead up to its
150th anniversary
celebration over Labour
weekend, the Lyttelton
Volunteer Fire Brigade
looks back at its past in
a regular column
IN PREPARATION for the
brigade’s 150th anniversary
celebrations, there has been
a lot of deep diving into the
archives.
After the February 22, 2011
earthquake, and the subsequent
loss of the fire station,
those archives were all over
the place.
One black and white negative
that surfaced was this
one, showing the brigade’s
first motorised fire appliance
– a 1923 Dodge.
On the left is Superintendent
Bob Carson and foreman
George Lester, clearly dating
the photo in the early 1930s.
The Dodge had no pumping
capacity, but it did carry all
the necessary equipment and
up to 16 firemen.
But not always.
Sometimes, on Lyttelton’s
steepest streets, the only
fireman still on board was the
driver.
The remainder were either
carrying equipment – or
pushing.
Unfortunately the Dodge
is no longer a going concern,
but over the Labour weekend
celebrations a static display
of other past and current fire
appliances will feature on the
Saturday.
Memorabilia such as 150th
anniversary coins, t-shirts,
polo shirts and hoodies are
now available – and keep an
eye out for the book.
Tool to monitor disease in wastewater
A TEAM OF researchers,
including Canterbury
University’s Dr Leighton Watson
and Professor Michael Plank,
have combined wastewater data
with reported case numbers to
create a statistical model that
could be used to inform public
health responses to infectious
diseases worldwide.
Their study is based on
data from the Institute of
Environmental Science and
Research wastewater Covid
surveillance programme and
Covid data collected across the
country.
The disease surveillance
tool analyses data in a way
no other study has previously
done – combining wastewater
data and reported case
numbers to estimate how
the case ascertainment rate,
or proportion of infections
reported, has changed over time.
The model also estimates the
effective reproduction number.
Watson’s model provides a
clearer picture of the state of
an epidemic, disease dynamics
and infections in the community.
“While the results are not
the only piece to the puzzle,
the model could be used as an
additional source of information
to inform public health policy
decisions and hospital capacity
planning,” said Watson, who is a
lecturer at the university’s school
of mathematics and
statistics.
He said the model
could be used by any
country where most
people are connected to
the wastewater system.
The model could be
applied nationally or
regionally and help
inform planning of
public health responses
Leighton
Watson
to multiple infectious diseases.
Watson said over time
Government restrictions
and testing guidelines
have been eased.
“At first, people
would test every time
they got a sore throat.
Anecdotally, now it
seems like many people
are assuming they are
just under the weather
because, for example,
PHOTO: GETTY
their kids bring every single bug
possible home from school.”
Watson said fewer cases could
mean fewer infections or fewer
people reporting.
Reported cases during the
second wave in July 2022 were
significantly lower than in the
first wave in February and
March 2022.
However, the model suggests
there was a substantial drop in
case ascertainment between
the waves and true numbers of
infections were actually similar.
Wastewater surveillance has
proven to provide valuable
data on Covid trends in the
community in New Zealand and
overseas. This led the research
team to investigate how clinical
and wastewater data could be
combined to provide a better
overall picture of the pandemic.
“Everyone who lives
somewhere that’s linked up to
the town wastewater system is
going to shed the virus into the
wastewater if they have Covid.
If they are plumbed into the
wastewater system and we are
sampling it, we can pick that
up independent of whether
people are testing or not,” said
Watson.
According to the researchers
the model provides the most
accurate source of data on
case ascertainment rate and
effective reproduction numbers
currently available, the
researchers said.
Watson and Plank worked
alongside research colleagues
from ESR and the University of
Oxford’s department of statistics
in England.
Their research was funded
by the Ministry of Health, the
Public Health Agency and the
Department of Prime Minister
and Cabinet.
Kowhai Vet Brings a Fresh Approach to Pet Care
new haven for the well-being of companion animals has
A recently opened its doors in Opawa. Nestled in the heart
of the community with convenient access from surrounding
areas, this unique veterinary clinic has created a warm,
welcoming environment where clients and their furry
companions will immediately feel at ease. The thoughtfully
designed layout comprises separate entrances for cats and
dogs leading into spacious waiting areas where friendly
staff will greet your pet with a selection of treats. The added
touch of soothing aromatherapy scents and background
music create an oasis of calm, ensuring a positive experience
for everyone involved.
Kowhai Vet stands out not only for its relaxed feel, but also
for its commitment to delivering a personal approach to
each client and their furry friends. Recognising that many
animals and their owners experience anxiety around vet
visits, the friendly team of vets and nurses maintain an
ethos of fear-free patient care. Longer appointment slots
ensure that there’s ample time to thoroughly discuss a pet’s
individual needs, and allows the clinic’s veterinarians to
perform examinations with a slow and gentle approach,
appreciating that building a foundation of trust is essential
to diagnosing and treating any ailment.
From left: Sarah Gifford, Jane Jones, Stephanie McLafferty,
Billie Malyon, Millie Greig.
Clinic owner, Stephanie, explains: “We understand that
a trip to the vet clinic can be an emotional and stressful
experience for the client and their pet. Whilst we cannot
always expect to remove that stress entirely, we can do our
best to minimise it and work with the owners to make their
experience as positive as possible. We believe in taking time
to listen and build relationships with our clients so that,
together, we can tailor our treatment to
provide the optimum healthcare for their
cherished pets.”
Experienced veterinarians,
Stephanie McLafferty and Jane Jones
provide a comprehensive range of
services from routine health checks
and vaccinations to more advanced
treatments, surgical procedures,
dental treatments, and much more.
The skilled and knowledgeable
nurses, Billie, Sarah and Millie, are also
available to provide advice on a range of
topics, from flea and worm products, diet and dental care to
training tips and environmental enrichment for your pets,
with an array of healthcare products, toys and tools in stock,
catering to their intellectual and physical well-being.
Kowhai Vet’s commitment to care extends beyond its walls.
They maintain an emphasis on supporting local enterprises
with their range of New Zealand-made treats, food, and
grooming products. A focus on sustainability forms part of
their core values, influencing product choices and systems.
Plus, for every new patient welcomed, a native tree takes
root in the region. With over 500 trees already funded, this
initiative speaks volumes about the clinic’s dedication to
environmental stewardship, mirroring the care they provide
to their four-legged clients.
Support a locally-owned and operated business
by visiting Kowhai Vet today and experience
another level of veterinary care. With its welcoming
atmosphere, fear-free philosophy, and unwavering
commitment to sustainability and local partnerships,
they set a new benchmark for pet care. Your pets
will thank you, and you’ll leave knowing that your
companions are in the best of hands.
STAGE ONE of the
Putaringamotu Riccarton
Bush Enhancement Project
will begin in April next year.
The project aims to
create spaces that support
education, enhance cultural
understanding, improve
accessibility, conserve native
flora and fauna as well as
optimise the overall experience
at Riccarton Bush.
This project is set to cost
$2.4 million, and Riccarton
Bush Trust Board manager
Shona Willis said they started
fundraising at the beginning
of this year and have so far
raised $460,000.
“We have split the project
into two stages, and we need
$1.2 million to complete stage
one, which will involve all the
infrastructure while stage two
focuses on the design,” she
said.
Willis said the bush will
close for three to six months
while work is being completed
and through that time they
will continue to fundraise.
“We have been turned down
by three funders so far that we
IN THE BUSH: Riccarton Bush ranger Mike Steenson (left) and board chairman Bob
Shearing.
PHOTO: BRIAR ALLEN
applied to, but they had a clear
criteria they said our project
didn’t match,” she said.
Willis said they are still
searching for substantial
funding.
“We have been making
approaches to major
fundraisers and we also have
a funding source from the city
council’s Long Term Plan, as
well as our own funds we have
been putting aside since 2021,”
Willis said.
Riccarton Bush ranger Mike
Steenson said the project is
being done on a needs basis.
“The tracks have reached the
end of their use by date, they
are rotten, are trip hazards and
we want to make them more
accessible to the public for
prams and wheelchair access,”
he said.
Board chairman Bob
Shearing said they want to do
it all properly and look at the
bigger picture.
“It is a major asset to the
area, and we are relying on the
community to support us. It is
near everything in town, but
it feels like a different world
when you step into it,” he said.
THIS WEEK’S local photograph
features teenagers Suzanne
and Annette Bachop with
their horses on Winchester St,
Lyttelton, on September 30,
1961.
So what were the girls doing
with their equine friends in the
middle of the road? The occasion
was a fair at the Anglican
Church of the Most Holy Trinity,
known locally as simply Holy
Trinity.
Suzanne, with her retired
trotter Flora Dawn, and Annette,
with her little pony Ace, gave
penny rides to children at the
fair to raise money for the
church.
Behind the girls the Upham
Clock and Lyttelton gaol site
are clearly visible, and the low
density of housing on the hillside
is before the wave of infill
building of later decades.
The Bachop girls lived with
their family first at Hawkhurst
Rd, later moving to Jacksons Tce,
and attended Lyttelton Main
School.
They were part of the extended
Bachop family which has made
its mark in both Lyttelton and
wider afield, including Suzanne’s
cousins of national rugby
fame.
Their father, Tom Bachop,
bought a nine-acre paddock near
the start of the Bridle Path – at
one time they grazed as many as
five horses there.
The girls delivered papers
around Lyttelton on their
horses; Annette collected the
Christchurch Press from an
office on Oxford St and Suzanne
met the 4.30pm train from
Christchurch at the Lyttelton
Railway Station for The Star
newspapers.
TREASURES FROM THE PAST 19
Horses, theatre and delivery rounds
There was also time for fun. On
a weekend the girls might go up
the Bridle Path with frypan and
potatoes and cook their lunch
in the hills (free range eggs and
foraged fruit would add to the
feast if they were lucky).
Hot summer days meant
fishing and swimming off the
wharves or at Corsair Bay. Suzanne
loved sports and notably
played hockey for Canterbury for
a number of years.
In our second photograph, Suzanne
is holding her cornet in her
Lyttelton Marine Band uniform
on February 23, 1964, the day
the Lyttelton Road Tunnel was
opened. It also happened to be
her 16th birthday!
With her fellow band members
Suzanne went into the tunnel a
few hundred metres in formation,
playing a march, before
making their way out and up to
the Upham Memorial Garden to
take part in the official opening
ceremony.
After leaving school Suzanne
was employed briefly at the
Lichfield Shirt Factory and local
supermarket and then with the
Post Office delivering telegrams
and undertaking relief work.
A pushbike was provided for
the rounds but Suzanne wisely
upgraded with her own Yamaha
55cc scooter to take on Lyttelton’s
steep hills. When she delivered
a telegram to the Saxon Hotel
on Norwich Quay she would
be given a refreshing raspberry
and lemonade. When she took
a telegram to the Holmdale, the
coastal trader which regularly
serviced the Chatham Islands,
she remembers a welcome cup of
hot vegetable soup from the cook
on a cold day.
Suzanne married Frank
Moloney in 1968, who was the
manager and projectionist at the
Harbour Light Theatre for a time
in the 1960s. He ran other small
theatres in Diamond Harbour,
Cheviot, and Methven, and his
career also took him to Timaru,
Wellington, and Rotorua.
Suzanne served 41 years as
payroll clerk and store supervisor
at Sinclair Melbourne (which
later became Lyttelton Engineering),
a time she remembers with
fondness for the fun had alongside
hard work. Now retired, they
live in Heathcote, just through
the tunnel that Suzanne proudly
took part in opening.
We are grateful to Suzanne for
sharing some of her wonderful
reminiscences of growing
up in the 1960s in Ōhinehou
Lyttelton. We also extend our
sincere condolences for the recent
passing of her sister Annette.
The Bone Hacker
by Kathy Reichs
#1 New York Times bestselling author Kathy Reichs returns
with a high-stakes thriller featuring forensic anthropologist
Temperance Brennan who, following a series of bizarre
disappearances on the islands of Turks and Caicos, enters
a sinister labyrinth in which a new technology may wreak
worldwide havoc. Called in to examine what is left of a body
struck by lightning, Tempe traces an unusual tattoo to its source
and is soon embroiled in a much larger case. Young men - tourists - have
been disappearing on the islands of Turks and Caicos for years. Seven years
ago, the first victim was found in a strange location with both hands cut off;
the other visitors vanished without a trace. But, recently, tantalising leads have
emerged and only Tempe can unravel them. Maddeningly, the victims seem to
have nothing in common - other than the strange locations where their bodies
are eventually found, and the fact that the young men all seem to be the least
likely to be involved in foul play. Do these attacks have something to do with
the islands’ seething culture of gang violence? Tempe isn’t so sure. And then
she turns up disturbing clues that what’s at stake may actually have global
significance. It isn’t long before the sound of a ticking clock grows menacingly
loud, and then Temper herself becomes a target.
Our Land in Colour
by Jock Phillips and Brendan Graham
A breathtaking collection of 200 photographs expertly colourised by Aotearoa
New Zealand’s premier colourist, Brendan Graham, with commentary from awardwinning
historian Jock Phillips ONZM. Our Land in Colour celebrates the rich story
of Aotearoa through the restoration of images never before seen in colour. Two
hundred images have been meticulously colourised, opening a window back in
time with remarkable detail. Aotearoa New Zealand from 1860 to 1960 was a world
of black and white. It was a time when communities were isolated, made their lives
from the land and lived an identity forged by the outdoors. Our Land in Colour is
the way New Zealanders experienced life for a century before colour photography
became prevalent, before large-scale urbanisation, and before the arrival of
television and jet-airliners changed the nation forever. From how the people
adapted to the environment and the way they had to feed, clothe, house and
transport themselves across an at times inhospitable land, to how they banded
together with a spirit that would become famously Kiwi - each image in this 400-
page book is a reminder of who we were and where we’ve come from.
after they were narrowly
pipped by Rangi Ruru in the
school’s first appearance in the
made Rangi fight for their win
after they scored in the first four
minutes of the game.
24 Bay Harbour News Wednesday August 30 2023
Nissan’s Qashqai a strong performer
Motoring with Bob Nettleton
THE QASHQAI compact
urban SUV, with its inventive
fuel-saving low-emission hybrid
technology, is a breakthrough
model for Nissan in this part of
the world.
A new platform underpins this
latest Qashqai, with increased
torsional stiffness provided by
greater use of high-strength steel.
Despite an increase in stiffness,
the body shell is a remarkable
60kg lighter than before.
In Europe and the UK, they
love the Qashqai. On this side of
the world it is, at best, a steady
seller. The company is expecting
big things from this latest model,
which offers a step up in refinement,
safety and technology
– and unfortunately prices, compared
to the vehicle it replaces.
Affordability could be an issue
with the entry level ST kicking
off at $45,990, $8k more than the
outgoing model. There no hiding
the fact this is a big increase
over the previous version, even
allowing for major advances on
every front. You do get more
Qashqai for your dollar with
this latest iteration bigger across
the board. It’s 4425mm long
(+31mm), 1625mm tall (+30mm),
and 1835mm wide (+29mm),
while the wheelbase has grown to
2665mm (+19mm).
HANDY: The motion-activated tailgate is great if you’re
juggling luggage.
REFINEMENT: The Nissan Qashqai offers plenty of technology, leading edge safety features
and more sophisticated rear suspension across every model.
There’s plenty of technology,
leading edge safety features, and
a more sophisticated multi-link
rear suspension set-up across
every model. There’s also more
variety in the powertrain department,
with a new and feisty
1.3-litre turbo petrol, and the
option of Nissan’s innovative
e-POWER hybrid system. This
carries a $7k price premium over
the turbo petrol motor.
Petrol, not e-power, dominates
the six strong model range,
which comprises four petrol variants
starting with the price leading
$45,995 ST and stretching to
$56,990 for the flagship Ti-L.
E-power is limited to the
upmarket Ti and Ti-L priced at
$59,990 and $65,680 respectively.
The latter version of this duo was
supplied for this road test. These
hefty asking prices put the Qashqai
at the high end of its class. In
fact, you can buy its larger sibling
the X-Trail e-power in the same
upmarket spec for another $1200.
For that modest investment, you
get a larger vehicle, greater versatility
and the better re-sale of an
AWD SUV.
Most hybrid systems use
an electric motor and a petrol
engine to drive their wheels.
Nissan’s e-POWER does things
differently with its wheels powered
exclusively by an electric
motor. The e-POWER system
was first seen in the Japan-only
Nissan Note in 2016, powering
on from that initial success to
claim best-selling car in Japan
two years later.
The second-generation
e-POWER technology used
in the latest Qashqai pairs the
effortless acceleration and refined
performance of an electric motor,
similar in size and power output
to those fitted in pure Nissan’s
EVs. It’s a strong high-energy
performer with 140kw of power
and 330nm of torque to take
command of most driving scenarios.
Thanks to the pure electric
motor, there’s none of the power-delivery
hesitancy associated
with an internal combustion engine
or traditional hybrid set-ups.
The instant response provides a
high-torque feel and exhilarating
acceleration, on lower fuel use
and emissions.
The e-POWER system delivers
its torque almost instantly,
enhancing the vehicle’s responsiveness.
A new-generation CVT
(Constant Variable Transmission)
delivers better fuel economy
and produces a lot less friction.
There are three drive modes at
your disposal, Eco, Normal and
Sport. All these upgrades are big
improvements on the lethargic
CVT that blunted the performance
of the previous model.
For a compact urban SUV this
one is roomier than most, with
plenty of passenger and load
space. The Ti-L supplied for this
road test is the jewel in the Qashqai
crown and sparkles when it
comes luxury features.
There’s a panoramic glass
roof and electric sunshade, a
black headliner and ambient
interior lighting. Cabin technology
features a 10.8-inch colour
head-up display, and a premium
10-speaker BOSE audio system.
The seats are accented in plush by
rather dated looking 3D quilted
premium leather, with memory
and massage functions for frontseat
passenger and driver.
A motion activated tailgate is
great if you’re juggling an armful
of groceries in the supermarket
car park. Simply wave your hand
or foot at the tailgate and the rear
hatch opens like magic.
Nissan Intelligent Mobility
safety features are impressive.
It includes Intelligent Cruise
Control, Forward Emergency
Braking, plus pedestrian, cyclist,
and junction detection capabilities.
You also have peace-of-mind
safety in the form of Lane Departure
Warning and Departure
Prevention and Blind Spot Warning.
High Beam Assist makes
DIY dipping of your headlights
at night for on-coming traffic a
thing of the past.
A lot of hype surrounds the
new Qashqai’s advanced multi-link
rear suspension. This configuration
means it excels when
subjected to sudden direction
changes, or different road cambers.
Well-controlled body-roll,
comfort and the effective isolation
of road noise and vibrations
from the passenger compartment
are among the best in the compact
urban SUV class.
There been a rework of the
steering with revised ratios
offering quicker corner turn-in
response. I’m not sure this rejig
hits all its KPIs. Overall, it puts in
a solid effort. However, at times
the steering felt light and a bit
thin on road feel and is an area
that isn’t as accomplished as the
rest of the vehicle.
