Tropicana Metropark, the 88-acre master development by Tropicana in Subang Jaya, will be home to upscale supermarket Mercato. Tropicana entered into an agreement with Mercato as the first anchor tenant in its SouthPlace Shoppes commercial hub. Mercato will be positioned as a retail catalyst, driving value for residents and serving the daily needs of the Tropicana Metropark community. Spanning across 23,771 sq ft, the anchor outlet will deliver exceptional food experiences, from organic produce and fresh seafood to an array of cheeses and meats from the delicatessen, freshly-baked pastries and loaves of bread from the bakery, and more. The move aligns with current trends seeing grocers and essentials operators as drivers for retail growth. Tropicana’s collaboration with GCH Retail (Malaysia) is timely, placing the building blocks in place for Tropicana Metropark as a self-sustaining mixed development. As an anchor tenant, Mercato delivers convenience for owners and residents, placing everything within easy reach. This is supplemented by the mature, established range of surrounding amenities thanks to the development’s strategic location in Subang Jaya. All this is in line with Tropicana’s mantra as it continues Redefining the Art of Living. Owned and operated by GCH Retail (Malaysia) since 2001, Mercato carries local and international favourites, including quality coffee beans from around the world, to delight passionate foodies keen on crafting culinary experiences. Built around a 9.2-acre Urban Park complete with a canal, its design is inspired by the Yarra River in Melbourne and incorporates direct access to the Federal Highway through the Tropicana Metropark Link. Situated in the integrated development’s retail podium, SouthPlace Shoppes offers a parkfront retail concept leveraging on an estimated catchment population of 1.3 million people in the surrounding areas of Subang Jaya and Shah Alam.
