Alnahawi, a Palestinian artist 

whose work transcends boundaries

worlds. Born in Ras Al Khaimah in 1994, 

Alnahawi currently resides and creates in 

the UAE, where his artistic journey has been 

nothing short of fascinating. 

At the core of Alnahawi’s art lies a profound 

exploration of language, post-humanism, 

and philosophies of design. His works are 

not just visually stunning, but they also carry 

a deep intellectual and emotional weight, 

leaving the audience pondering the mysteries 

of existence. 

Alnahawi’s artistic foundation was laid at 

the esteemed American University in Dubai, 

where he completed his BFA. It was here 

that his passion for art, language, and design 

flourished, setting the stage for his remarkable 

future. 

Currently, Alnahawi is pursuing his MFA in 

Sculpture at the renowned Rhode Island 

School of Design (RISD) in the United States. 

This pursuit of higher education allows him 

to refine his craft and expand his horizons, 

nurturing his artistic vision even further. 

Throughout his artistic journey, Alnahawi has 

had the opportunity to engage in various 

residencies, each providing unique experiences 

and shaping his artistic expression. 

Notably, he has been a part of the esteemed 

Cultural Foundation Art Residency, the Salama 

Bint Hamdan Fellowship in collaboration 

with RISD, and Art Jameel’s Youth Assembly. 

Such opportunities have allowed him 

to collaborate with fellow artists, exchange 

ideas, and enrich his perspective on art and 

its possibilities.

One of the remarkable aspects of Alnahawi’s 

work is his integration of writing as an essential 

element of his practice. Through the written

Al Ain, UAE, in 1988, Al Areef’s artistic brilliance

expressions. 

Al Areef embarked on his creative journey 

with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication 

from the prestigious College of Arts 

and Sciences at the American University of 

Sharjah in 2012. To deepen his artistic roots, 

he pursued a Masters in Art History and Museum 

Management at Paris-Sorbonne University, 

Abu Dhabi, in 2017. 

Conceptual photography serves as Al 

Areef’s focal point, yet his creativity spans 

diverse mediums: digital art, video installations, 

photo manipulation, oil on canvas, and 

intricate ink-on-paper illustrations. By melding 

historical symbols with modern techniques, 

he sheds light on the significance of 

bygone cultures, preserving their heritage. 

His talent has been celebrated through exhibitions 

across the UAE and globally. The 

‘Portrait of a Nation’ exhibition at Abu Dhabi 

Music and Arts Foundation (ADMAF) in 

2016 gained international recognition when 

it traveled to the ME Collectors Room Berlin/ 

Olbricht Foundation in 2017. His influence 

extended to ‘UAE Design Stories’ exhibitions 

at Milan Design Week, London Design Fair, 

and Galerie Nikki in Paris in 2018. 

The Maraya Art Centre in Sharjah showcased 

Al Areef’s work during the ‘Colour Bar: 

Colour, Space, and Bits per Pixel’ exhibition 

in 2019, solidifying his place in the art world. 

Notably, the Cultural Foundation Art Residency 

further acknowledged his talent and 

commitment. 

Al Areef’s connection to heritage extends 

beyond art. As a dedicated employee at the 

National Archives, he safeguards the UAE’s

jewellery design. Her creativity and

Born in 1960 in Morocco, Bruno Catalano’s 

roots are deeply intertwined with a history of 

migrations and cultural blending. His family, 

tracing back to Franco-Italian origins, can 

trace their ancestry to Jewish ancestors who 

were expelled from Spain in the 15th century 

and later found refuge in Sicily before eventually 

settling in North Africa. At the age of 

ten, Bruno’s family left Morocco to make a 

new home in Marseille. 

Initially, life took Bruno in a different direction, 

as his father trained him as an electrician. 

For several years, he worked on boats 

for a shipping company and later joined 

SNCM, a job far from the world of art. Little 

did he know that these early experiences 

would play a crucial role in shaping his artistic 

sensibilities. 

Bruno’s journey into the world of art began 

when he discovered the craft of creating 

leather masks with his friends. Intrigued by 

the world of sculpture, he later turned his focus 

to clay in 1991. Determined to master 

this medium, he enrolled in modeling and 

drawing workshops while enriching his skills 

through self-study and reading. 

Over time, Bruno Catalano established his 

own studio, equipped it with an oven, and 

made sculpting his primary vocation. Recognition 

came knocking in 2001 when the 

town hall of the 5th arrondissement of Marseille 

commissioned him to create a bust of 

the legendary Yves Montand, which was to 

adorn a dedicated square. This marked the 

beginning of a series of public art projects 

that would become the heart and soul of his 

artistic journey. 

In 2004, an unexpected incident changed 

the course of Bruno’s artistic expression forever. 

A metal casting accident created a serendipitous 

opening in one of his sculptures. 

Instead of dismissing it as a mishap, Bruno 

embraced this fortuitous event, making the 

tear in the material a central element of his future 

creations. This marked a turning point in 

his career, as he began crafting monumental 

figures, some towering several meters high. 

Bronze became his preferred medium, and 

he occasionally infused his sculptures with 

vibrant colors, breathing life into each piece. 

Today, Bruno Catalano continues to embody 

the true essence of a sculptor, always striving 

for perfection, accuracy, and honesty in 

the portrayal of his figures. His works have 

an enigmatic quality, leaving viewers pondering

keep their identity a mystery, letting their 

work speak for itself. One such artist is 

Andy Firth, a rising talent from Australia, 

known by his alias, Jack Of The Dust. For 

over a decade, Firth concealed his true 

identity, but with a staggering social media 

following of 2.9 million, he is now ready to 

step into the limelight and share his story. 

Unlike many artists, Andy Firth did not receive 

any formal training in his craft. From 

a young age, he displayed a natural artistic 

inclination, spending his time building LEGO 

creations and exploring various forms of artistry 

with his hands. As he grew older, Firth’s 

love for intricate artistry blossomed through 

painting and designing Warhammer miniatures, 

a type of tabletop gaming figures. 

Despite his passion for art, Firth worked 

tirelessly as a boat builder for twelve years, 

squeezing in his artistic pursuits during his 

spare time. He even took on a part-time job 

as a video clerk to support his artistic endeavors. 

The turning point came when Firth 

struggled to find a decorated human skull 

for purchase. Not one to shy away from a 

challenge, he decided to fill this unique

schedule, Andy began creating replica 

skulls as sculptures, starting as a mere “side 

hustle.” The demand for his creations grew 

rapidly, and after two years of juggling both 

worlds, he knew it was time to make art his 

full-time pursuit. In 2013, Andy embraced 

the name Jack Of The Dust and embarked 

on a full-fledged artistic journey, with the human 

skull as his chosen canvas. 

The name “Jack Of The Dust” itself carries a 

fascinating story. Inspired by an 1800s book 

of naval terminology, Firth stumbled upon 

the term while flipping through the pages. In 

the historical context, it referred to a storekeeper 

in charge of dry goods on board a 

ship, creating a dusty environment. For Firth, 

the name perfectly embodied his artistic 

approach, going from dust to dust, with the 

human skull symbolizing this cycle of life. 

Additionally, the name Jack, akin to John 

Doe, encapsulated his fascination with the 

essence of humanity. He believes that the 

human skull is the perfect canvas as it represents 

the center of perception and experience—the 

place where everything happens. 

Jack Of The Dust’s repertoire now includes 

over a couple of hundred different types of 

sculpted pieces. From skulls inspired by 

Samurai warriors, popular culture icons like 

Rick & Morty, unique interpretations of Andy 

Warhol, to traditional offerings like Day of the 

Dead skulls, there’s a piece of art for everyone. 

Social media played a significant role in 

spreading the word about Firth’s art. Starting 

his Jack Of The Dust Instagram account 

in 2013 as an art sharing page, he quickly 

gained a massive following by documenting 

the creation process on his YouTube channel. 

Celebrities like Jason Momoa, Joe Rogan, 

and Slash have become his customers, 

elevating his business to new heights. 

Today, Jack Of The Dust operates out of 

two warehouses on Australia’s Gold Coast, 

spanning over 7,000 square feet. Thanks to 

his enormous following, Firth now employs 

fifteen full-time artists to help create each 

handmade piece. They use mixed media of 

clay, acrylic, and resin, pushing the boundaries 

of sculpting with unconventional materials. 

Despite having access to numerous 

tools, Andy’s favorites remain a humble butter 

knife and his hands.

Creating a single piece takes about four 

months, from idea to final creation. Firth finds 

the sculpting phase the most rewarding as 

he witnesses his vision taking shape. However, 

he cherishes every step of the artistic 

process. 

Being self-taught, Andy Firth knows the value

of failing, as it is an integral part of growth

With a global fan base, Jack Of The Dust 

can now only accept orders through weekly 

drops, with announcements made to those 

on the mailing list. While commissions are no

through various techniques and fabrics. 

Along her creative path, Kinga delved into 

bobbin lace making, origami, and other

as pin-tuck. Traditionally used to decorate 

blouses, she discovered its potential to create

and sewing the fabric meticulously, a rhythmic 

striped surface emerges, which can 

be molded into intricate petals and leaves, 

forming the basis for her sculptures. 

Choice of Materials 

Kinga’s favorite fabric is silk, especially the 

textured and lustrous Silk Dupioni, which she 

discovered during her studies and instantly 

fell in love with. The fabric’s distinct qualities, 

with its rustic appearance and tactile touch, 

perfectly complement her artistic vision. 

The Process of Creation 

Drawing plays a vital role in the initial stages 

of Kinga’s creative process, allowing her 

thoughts to take shape. However, it is in the 

interaction with the fabric that her sculptures 

truly come alive. Guided by the fabric’s responsiveness, 

she lets her instincts and the 

material’s nature lead her to the final form. 

Her process involves three major phases: 

preparing the fabric, creating the shape, 

and fixing it using a special textile glue. 

Time and Career Highlights 

Working on multiple pieces simultaneously, 

Kinga invests about one to two months to 

complete one sculpture. Her career highlights 

include exhibiting at the 11th Lace 

Biennial in Brussels and receiving the esteemed 

‘Textile Artist of the Year 2015’ 

prize from the Cultural Found for Textileart. 

Notably, her most significant commission 

involved creating a magnificent 6-meter-tall 

origami Christmas tree for Sofitel Budapest 

Chain Bridge. 

Advice for Aspiring Textile Artists 

Kinga encourages aspiring artists to find 

their unique paths, urging them to be patient 

and trust their instincts and feelings throughout 

their artistic journey.

On scaling imagination: the miniature realms and monumental

erner Bronkhorst is a self-taught 

contemporary artist hailing from 

Australia, celebrated for his singular 

artistic style. Renowned for his innovative 

approach, Bronkhorst skillfully 

marries abstract sculptural backdrops 

with hyper-realistic portrayals of miniature 

individuals. Through his distinct gestural 

technique, he has crafted a remarkable 

series of artworks that delve into the 

dynamic interplay between the micro and 

macro, as well as the tangible and the abstract. 

Bronkhorst’s creations stand as visual 

marvels, offering a profound exploration 

of scale and reality within his striking 

compositions.. 

What medium of art do you use, and why 

that medium? 

A majority of my work is made using thick 

acrylic gel mediums to create the highly textural 

bases for my paintings. I often mix other 

non-conventional materials such as volcanic 

rock, marble dust and other compounds to 

create a variety of effects depending on the 

scene I want to create. It is then that I add 

miniature figures of people surfing, skiing 

or walking which are painted using acrylic 

paints. More recently though, I have started 

creating large scale drawings of cars using 

charcoal on raw canvas before I paint words 

over the drawing using thick acrylic paint. 

What are the projects you’ve worked on 

worldwide? 

Although I work in Australia, most of my 

artworks end up in the hands and houses 

of collectors in North America, Europe and 

Asia. 

Now that my work has garnered international 

attention, there are exciting projects underway 

such as exhibitions and collaborations 

as well as installations in countries like Germany, 

the United States and England.

Any collaborations that you have worked 

on with, i.e., brands, etc. 

I am currently working on an artwork in 

collaboration with Nissan to promote their 

Formula E division. Later this month I will 

also announce my next collection which will 

feature snow scenes such as skiing, snowboarding 

and many more. For that reason I 

decided to collaborate with Pockies, a clothing 

brand in Amsterdam, to create hoodies 

and tracksuit pants with my figures embroidered 

all over. So soon, my art will be worn 

by many people! 

What are your thoughts on the current art 

landscape? 

As much as I love the world of art, I feel it 

needs a refresh. New art that pushes the 

boundaries rather than the same old paintings 

we’ve seen for hundreds of years. Art 

can be very exclusive and hard to understand 

or enjoy by everyone. With the rise of 

artificial intelligence, the Metaverse and the 

continual rise of social media’s influence in 

how we consume, create and display works 

of art, the landscape of art is changing 

drastically and at an unprecedented pace. 

Also this is a frightening feeling, I choose to 

embrace this change and use it for my own 

good as well as the good of others by making 

art that is new, exciting and innovative. 

What are your plans for the future? Are 

there any projects, or collaborations you 

could hint on? 

I certainly have big dreams and although I 

have been on the map for less than a year, 

my dream finally came true when Porsche 

reached out to work on a big project for their 

annual Porsche Ice Experience in Finland. 

I’ll be creating the trophies for that event as 

well as a small body of work to be exhibited 

there for two months. Mercedes Benz also 

reached out and we are in the discussion 

phase for a possible project together… 


What message are you trying to deliver 

with your art? 

I always say that the whole world is a canvas; 

we are just walking in it. I paint the world 

with us in it but in a very simple and thought 

provoking way. 

Whether it is the scene depicted, the title of 

the artwork or the figures within my paintings, 

each artwork is made with the viewer 

in mind. When I create my artworks I do so 

with the intention that the viewer can connect 

with them and imagine themselves in 

that painting. We are all artworks made by 

our own Creator and have the responsibility 

to look after and appreciate this masterpiece 

of a planet that we live in. 

I decided to use my skills as an artist to paint 

tiny figures of skiers and snowboarders on 

it. I took a video of this entire process and 

posted it on social media where it got a lot 

of attention. I have since continued mixing 

all kinds of materials in search of the perfect 

textures, which is why I feel more like a scientist 

than an artist. As a result, I decided to 

call my art studio ‘The Lab’. 

What message would you 

like to give to our readers 

and young artists? 

Your artwork utilizes plaster of paris on 

canvas. What brought about this idea? 

I formerly worked as a self employed furniture 

designer and craftsman. As a result, I 

worked with weird and wonderful materials 

to create furniture that was unlike no other. 

There were often left over materials like plaster 

of paris that I didn’t want to put to waste, 

so I decided to make artworks out of them. 

I started out spreading this plaster onto 

blocks of wood and when it dried, I realised 

that it looked like a snowy mountain.

American sculptor celebrated 

for her figurative works depicting 

swimmers and dancers. As one of the three 

founders of Hyperrealism movement in the 

late 70s, and the sole woman working in this 

style, Feuerman revolutionized figurative 

sculptures realistic painted for outdoor settings. 

She is also recognized for her artistic 

advancements, particularly in perfecting 

the technique she calls “painting with fire,” 

which involves melting molding bronze until 

it is liquid and pouring it into open sand 

molds. 

Feuerman’s illustrious career has garnered 

numerous prestigious awards, acknowledging 

her significant contributions to the art 

world. She was honored with the Lifetime 

Achievement ‘Goddess Artemis’ Award from 

the European American Woman’s Council 

for her innovative sculptural creations. In 

China, she received the Best in Show award 

in the Beijing Biennale and a Special Honor 

in Changzhou for her large-scale installations. 

Additional accolades include the

On her journey from an illustrator to sculptor 

Feuerman resides in Manhattan with her 

family and maintains three studios in the Tri- 

State area, where she continues to create 

emotive Hyperrealist sculptures. Her artistic 

philosophy is rooted in the belief that if one 

can imagine it, they can make it come true, 

as she passionately strives to create art that 

closely resembles life. According to Feuerman, 

“It’s all in the details.” 

What medium do you use in your art, 

and why did you choose it? 

Originally starting as an illustrator, my career 

naturally evolved into sculpture after a 

transformative experience of encountering a 

swimmer on the beach. This led me to create 

swimmer sculptures. I also incorporate shimmering 

Swarovski crystals and luxurious 

gold leaf to celebrate the beauty of women, 

art, and the joy that swimmers represent in 

my personal life and to many others. These 

materials not only reclaim the ancient techniques

What are some of the worldwide and 

local projects you have worked on? 

My public commissions have been exhibited 

globally, including recent exhibitions on New 

York City’s Park Avenue and Central Park, as 

well as at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington 

D.C. Internationally, my works have 

been displayed at venues such as Avenue 

George V in Paris and the Venice Biennale. 

Noteworthy solo exhibitions include Crossing 

The Sea, Fondazione Made in Cloister, 

Naples, IT, Sea Idylls, POPA, Park Avenue, 

New York, The Importance of Being Human, 

Medici Museum of Art, Trumbull, Ohio, USA, 

Corpus Domini. Dal Corpo Glorioso alle 

rovine dell’ anima, Palazzo Reale, Milan, 

IT, From La Biennale di Venezia & Open to

Have you collaborated with any 

brands or other entities? What are 

your plans or any projects and collaborations 

you can hint at? 

Fortunately, I have had the privilege of collaborating 

with other artists such as Michelangelo 

Bastiani by creating Birth Geyser. 

Moreover, my foundation, The Carole A. 

Feuerman Sculpture Foundation collaborates 

with various charities to support young 

artists in showcasing their work and offers a 

residency program. Currently, there is a potential 

collaboration underway with a clothing 

brand, the proceeds of which would aid 

survivors and individuals diagnosed with 

Breast Cancer, a cause that holds personal 

significance to me. 

Additionally, a film is in production that will 

delve into and expand upon my career, as 

portrayed in my autobiography My Hyperrealist 

Life. Lastly, I own and operate 1Moore 

Studios, which encompasses recording, 

photography, and music studios. Through 

1Moore Studios, I have collaborated with 

and signed numerous talented musicians. I 

will also be featured at Park Avenue Day in 

October, and I have several exciting exhibitions 

and showcases in progress. Stay tuned 

for more! 

What are your thoughts on the current 

art landscape? 

While I appreciate and understand the challenges 

faced by my fellow artists, I am disheartened 

by the continued neglect and lack 

of recognition given to many female artists 

for their achievements and contributions. I 

am immensely grateful for the opportunities 

I have been afforded, but it remains disappointing 

that my role in founding Hyperrealism 

is often downplayed. 

Hopefully, with time and increased awareness, 

museums and institutions will continue 

to address the gender disparities in the art 

world. Technology has also played a significant 

role in expanding artistic possibilities, 

allowing artists to experiment and create in 

new and exciting ways. I am also proud of 

the acclaim that Hyperrealism has gained, 

as it makes me happy to see how many have 

become touched by the movement. 

What message are you trying to convey 

through your art? 

To fully answer this question, I would like 

to share a quote from my autobiography, 

My Hyperrealist Life And Legacy, which 

explores the significance of my choice to 

sculpt swimmers. In the book, I wrote, “My 

sculptures replicate the forms, contours, 

and textures of the human body, creating 

a visually convincing illusion of physicality. 

They are life-like sculptures, painted with 

oils, that appear so real that you can feel 

their presence in the room. I am best known 

for my swimmers, adorned with water droplets. 

However, they are more than just swimmers. 

They tell stories of survival, balance, 

perseverance, and trust from my own life. 

As a child, I cherished the beach, and many 

of my dearest memories involve playing in 

the sand and diving into the waves at Jones 

Beach on Long Island. I recall the delicate 

water droplets that covered my arms and 

face after emerging from a swim, and I was 

captivated by the patterns they formed on 

my skin. I observed how the human figure 

radiates a healthy glow while in and out of 

the water, and how the water rejuvenates 

the body while instilling a sense of harmony, 

both internally and externally. My swimmer 

sculptures embody a contentedness with 

life, and they are survivors, much like me.” In 

essence, my work embodies perseverance, 

which is not only a prevalent theme in my art 

but also a central message in my life. 

Your preferred medium of working 

is quite unique. What inspired this 

idea? 

While I am recognized for developing techniques 

like “painting with fire,” which involves 

molten bronze, I have also chosen 

another material that I cannot disclose due to 

it being a trademark of my sculptures. What 

I can share is that it mimics lifelike qualities 

and embodies the water droplets that once 

adorned my body, serving as a constant reminder 

of my resilience. I vividly remember 

a significant moment sitting on the beach. 

I was going through a difficult period, contemplating 

a divorce. However, I witnessed 

a young woman emerging from the water, 

brimming with joy. Her happiness inspired 

me and sparked the idea to incorporate this 

material into my sculptures, mimicking the 

droplets I had observed on her and, earlier, 

on myself. I am delighted with my choice, as 

it has garnered much attention and praise 

for the unique element it brings to my artworks. 

What message would you like to convey 

to our readers and young artists? 

The message I would like to convey to readers 

and young artists is to nurture and preserve 

your passion. Never let it wane and 

always fuel it. Despite the setbacks I faced, 

my love for art propelled me through the 

most challenging times in my life. There is 

no greater feeling than channeling one’s difficulties 

into creating beautiful sculptures. I 

also emphasize the importance of surrounding 

yourself with supportive individuals and 

having a team that uplifts and inspires you, 

as I do in my various studio locations. Surround 

yourself with those who bring out the 

best in you and foster your growth.

tep into the world of sculptor Klaus 

Metz Bildhauer, whose artistic journey 

began in the picturesque town of Bad 

Brückenau in 1968. From the tender age of 

16, Klaus discovered his passion for wood 

sculpting and set forth on a path that would 

lead him to become a celebrated artist. 

His artistic odyssey commenced with a 

three-year apprenticeship under the mentorship 

of the esteemed wood sculptor, Günter 

Metz, from 1984 to 1987. Young Klaus’s dedication 

and talent shone through as he secured 

the title of National Winner in the wood 

sculpting trade in 1987. 

Fuelled by his thirst for knowledge and artistic 

growth, Klaus enrolled at the Academy of 

Fine Arts in Nuremberg in 1990, specializing 

in sculpture. During his time at the academy, 

he showcased exceptional promise, earning 

recognition and praise as a prize winner at 

the Danner competition in 1991. 

A turning point in Klaus’s artistic journey occurred 

in 1993 when he was appointed as 

a master student by Prof. Wilhelm Uhlig, an 

honor that further solidified his place in the 

world of sculpture. 

Beyond the artistic realm, Klaus’s personal 

life took a delightful turn in 1994 as he tied 

the knot with fellow artist Heike Maria Metz, 

forming a beautiful partnership in both life 

and art. 

Since 1996, Klaus has been gracing the 

world as a freelance sculptor, lending his 

creative vision to various projects. His work 

has not gone unnoticed, with accolades like 

the “Rhönsalon” prize in 2002 and 2005 from 

the prestigious Kunststation Kleinsassen. 

One of the crowning achievements of his 

career came in 2007 when Johann received 

the art prize of the Hugo and Elly Götz Foundation 

in Würzburg. This recognition further 

cemented his position as a master sculptor 

of exceptional talent. 

In 2008, Johann embarked on a new chapter 

by establishing his own studio, providing 

him with the ideal space to create and bring 

his artistic visions to life. The following year 

marked the inauguration of the studio with a 

grand exhibition, showcasing the culmination 

of years of artistic exploration.

Throughout his career, Johann’s sculptures

of triumph as Klaus acquired “Kolkrabe” 

from the Barbara Brockhard Foundation for 

the Kunsthalle Schweinfurt, marking a significant 

milestone in his career. His partnership 

with the Triennale IV Kunsthalle Schweinfurt 

further solidified his position as a significant 

figure in the contemporary art scene. 

As we step into 2023, Klaus Metz Bildhauers 

continues to leave an indelible mark on 

the world of sculpture. His unique ability to 

breathe life into wood and bronze sets him

Camacci whose roots are deeply

Camacci whose journey began amidst the 

wonders of this ancient city, where beauty 

and faith coalesce like scenes from a Fellini 

masterpiece. This is the tale of how a young 

talent from Rome embraced his artistic calling 

and went on to leave a mark on the world 

of sculpture and land art. 

Early Beginnings and Training 

Born and raised in Rome, Emanuela Camacci’s 

aesthetic sensibilities were shaped by 

the city’s enthralling blend of history, art, and 

lush green landscapes. The enchanting mix 

of paganism and Catholicism that permeates 

the air of Rome left an indelible mark on 

her artistic soul. Completing her academic 

studies, Emanuela Camacci found herself 

drawn to the studio of Costantino Buccolieri, 

where she delved into the mesmerizing 

world of mosaics. 

Surprisingly, this seemingly distant experience 

from traditional sculpture turned out to 

be the foundation of her artistic journey. The 

techniques learned during her time with mosaics 

continue to influence her current artistic 

research in sculpture and land art. Over 

the years, she honed his skills in various 

sculpting techniques and explored a myriad 

of materials. Residencies for artists and the 

opportunity to create site-specific works in 

large formats for public and private spaces 

integrated with the environment played a 

crucial role in her artistic exploration. 

One cannot overlook the significance of two 

of Emanuela Camacci’s remarkable works, 

“Mani,” a sculpture crafted from Roman travertine, 

proudly adorning the fire station of 

Montesacro est in Rome, and “Bolle d’aria,” 

a mesmerizing marble creation permanently 

housed in the collection of Cantina Produttori 

Cormòns in Gorizia. 

A Transformative Turning Point 

In 2017, Emanuela Camacci encountered 

a turning point that revolutionized her artistic 

trajectory. An invitation to participate in 

the Global Nomadic Art Project in Turkey 

opened a new chapter in her career. The 

event challenged artists to employ natural 

materials found on-site to create ephemeral 

installations in untouched natural settings. 

For Emanuela Camacci, this opportunity 

was a gateway to liberate herself from the 

constraints of traditional sculpture and delve 

into a more profound artistic expression. The 

experience led her to embrace a new poetic 

approach, expanding her artistic vision forever. 

Working in foreign lands, collaborating 

with diverse artists, and immersing herself in

growth. It became a way of life for

In her own words, our artist endeavors to 

immerse the audience in a universe where 

harmony and balance of shapes celebrate

Born in 1991 in Manama, Bahrain, Nasser 

Alzayani now calls Abu Dhabi his home and 

creative haven. His artwork weaves together 

themes of factual and fictional archaeology, 

seeking to uncover alternative narratives that 

challenge our understanding of collective 

history. 

One of the highlights of Alzayani’s artistic 

journey is his participation in numerous 

group exhibitions, showcasing his boundless 

talent to the world. In 2020, his work 

was featured in “Kissing Through A Curtain” 

at MASS MoCA in North Adams, USA, and 

“The Youth Takeover” at Jameel Art Centre 

in Dubai, UAE. His artistic prowess was also 

displayed in the “Glass Triennial” at the Sol 

Koffler Gallery in Providence, USA, and the 

“_____scapes” exhibition at Gelman Gallery, 

Providence, USA, both in 2019. In 2017, 

“Bayn” at Warehouse421 in Abu Dhabi, UAE, 

and in 2016, “Watering the distant, deserting 

the near” at Al Riwaq in Bahrain, were further 

milestones in his flourishing career. 

Recognized for his exceptional talent, Alzayani 

has been the recipient of esteemed 

residencies, further enriching his artistic 

journey. In 2017, he was bestowed with the 

Fundación Casa Wabi x ArtReview Residency, 

followed by the Villa Lena Foundation 

Residency in 2018. Currently, he is an artist 

in residence at the Cultural Foundation in 

Abu Dhabi, embracing new inspirations and 

nurturing his craft.

Educationally, Alzayani holds an MFA in 

Glass from the prestigious Rhode Island 

School of Design, a testament to his dedication

The breath of the wild within the hands of 

Pierre Jean

I 

n the vast tapestry of life, there are subtle 

threads woven in childhood that shape the 

fabric of our future. Little did Pierre Jean 

Chabert know that the gestures he made as 

a child would influence his life choices and 

lead him on a captivating artistic journey. 

After fifteen years of a bustling life in Paris, 

Pierre-Jean Chabert found solace in Tours, 

nestled on the banks of the serene Cher 

River, surrounded by nature’s embrace. His 

love for art began in his early days, as he 

discovered the art of molding and shaping 

clay in a farmhouse in his native region of 

southern France. Drawing soon became his 

preferred mode of expression, granting him 

the freedom to unleash his imagination. 

As a young adult, alongside his studies in 

comedy and body language, Chabert taught 

himself the art of clay modeling, crafting the 

heads of mythical chimeras that populated 

his enchanting bestiary. At just 24, he collaborated 

with a director, bringing to life several 

animated films, the first of which was titled 

“Floyd, leapfrog.” 

This marked the beginning of a new exploration 

into sculpting, as he ventured into 

the realm of polymer pastes such as “Fimo” 

and “Super Sculpey.” Delving into the realm 

of fantasy and science fiction, Pierre-Jean 

Chabert crafted a myriad of heads, busts, 

and characters, each brimming with creativity. 

His research led him to unfamiliar territories, 

the realms of miniature sculpture and 

figurines. 

At the age of 30, fueled by a thirst for knowledge, 

he decided to study the living model, 

honing his skills under the guidance of 

Philippe Seené for three years. Here, he 

delved into the world of nudes, portraits, and 

animal pieces, mastering the techniques of 

molding, resin, welding, and even having 

bronze pieces cast for his first exhibitions. 

The success of these exhibitions brought private 

commissions and the freedom to dedicate 

himself to his personal creations. Pierre 

Jean was finally able to immerse himself in 

what he loved most – letting his creativity vibrate, 

sharpening his sense of observation, 

and nurturing his critical mind. 

Through his mesmerizing works, Chabert 

invites us to share in the intimate and precious 

moments of an artist’s life, a journey 

of self-discovery and freedom. He stands 

among the bearded artists, sometimes eccentric, 

sometimes lost in thought, whose
