boundaries by bypassing linguistic boundaries. 

Painting, sculpture, music, dance, and other 

forms of art have the power to represent the

cannot. The creative process can be healing 

because it helps us work through our feelings 

and establish more meaningful relationships. 

People all throughout the world celebrate the 

beauty and value of art on World Art Day. To 

celebrate the occasion, museums, galleries,

wealth of our society while also bringing people

globe come together on International Dance 

Day to honour the cultural phenomenon that 

is dance. Each person can experience the 

joy and creativity of dance thanks to the 

proliferation of performances, workshops, and 

other dance-related events in communities all 

over the globe. Throughout the beginning of 

time, people relied on dance to help them 

through tough times. It has been an integral 

part of many rites and ceremonies, as well as 

a means of self-expression, storytelling, and 

cultural preservation. Contemporary dance has 

matured into an art form that audiences of all 

ages and walks of life can enjoy. Dancing’s

Discovering Kuwaiti heritage 

through Impressionist 

Realism: A tale of passion 

and perseverance in art 


Ibtisam Alasfour is an Impressionist realist 

Kuwaiti artist who has made a name for 

herself in the Kuwaiti art scene. She is a 

member of the Free Art Atelier in Kuwait 

as well as the Kuwait Heritage Society. Ibtisam 

has had a passion for drawing since 

childhood and was one of the best students 

in her drawing classes. Her teacher, Artist 

Samya Sayed Omer, encouraged her to pursue 

her talent. 

Ibtisam decided to further improve her 

skills and joined one of the formative institutions 

in Kuwait. She attended many 

workshops and practiced drawing using 

oil colors for 12 years. As a result, her work 

has a unique style that sets her apart from 

other artists. Ibtisam draws inspiration from 

Kuwaiti heritage and lifestyle, including traditional 

Kuwaiti attire, costumes, historical 

buildings, and late and current Kuwaiti figures 

such as rulers, poets, and singers. 

Ibtisam has organized several exhibits 

and has had three personal exhibits, including 

“Kuwaiti Days” in 2018, “The Voice Memory” 

in 2019, and “Here Is Kuwait” in 2023. 

She has organized exhibits such as “Formative 

Effects and Angles” on Failka Island, 

“Historical Buildings in Kuwait” at Dixon 

House in 2020, and “Kuwait is Our Home,” in 

2020. In collaboration with the National Assembly 

of Culture, Art, and Letters, Ibtisam 

organized a virtual historical and architectural 

exhibit in 2020. In February 2021, she 

collaborated with Almubarakiya Company 

for the “Almubarakiya: Formative Art Vision” 

exhibit, where she won first place. Her 

paintings of Kuwaiti folklore were used in the 

Commercial Bank of Kuwaiti (Altijari) calendar 

in 2021 and the Kuwait Heritage Society 

calendar in 2022. 

Overall, Ibtisam Alasfour is a talented 

Kuwaiti artist who draws inspiration from 

Kuwaiti heritage and culture. Her work has 

been recognized through personal exhibits 

and collaborations with various organizations. 

Her unique style and passion for drawing 

make her a notable artist in the Kuwaiti 

art scene.

An artist who explores 

the intersection of 

nature and culture 

“My distinctive style incorporates modern, immersive 

and abstract works with natural components,” says Layla 

Husain. 


Layla Husain is a self-taught Bahraini artist 

who has been creating art for the past 

2 decades. Her passion for blending 

realism and expressionism is reflected 

in her work, where she uses natural elements 

to create immersive abstract pieces. Layla’s 

work is described as an intersection of nature 

and culture, as she combines elements found 

in the natural world with local and regional 

cultural influences. 

Layla’s creative repertoire includes mixed 

media such as oil, acrylic, alcohol ink, resin 

and different textures. She finds inspiration in 

her surroundings, incorporating the beauty 

of the Bahraini landscape into her work. Her 

pieces reflect her personal experiences and 

her connection to nature. One of the defining 

characteristics of Layla’s work is her ability 

to blend the realistic and the abstract. Her 

paintings often include realistic depictions of 

natural objects such as leaves or flowers, but 

these objects are transformed through the use 

of colour and texture into abstract elements 

that interact with the overall composition. 

Layla’s work is also distinguished by the way 

in which she incorporates cultural motifs into 

her paintings. These motifs often take the form 

of Arabic calligraphy or other elements drawn 

from the local culture. Layla has participated 

in several exhibitions in Bahrain and abroad. 

In 2023, her work will be featured in the Paris 

Expo art3f. She has also held solo exhibitions, 

including the 2021 AMWAJ Solo Exhibition 

and the Taaluf Exhibition. Her work has been 

featured in several publications and media 

outlets, including GDN, Al Ayam, and News 

of Bahrain. In addition to her artistic pursuits, 

Layla holds a BSc in Business Informatics, an 

International Diploma in Business from AMA 

University, and a National Diploma in Business 

from Cambridge University. She is a member 

of the Bahrain Arts Society and the Women’s 

International Club of Bahrain. 

Layla Husain’s unique perspective and 

artistic talent have earned her recognition and 

appreciation both locally and internationally. 

Her work reflects her passion for nature and 

culture, and she continues to inspire others 

with her creativity and dedication to her 

craft. In her paintings, Layla invites us to see 

the natural world in a new way, as a place 

where the boundaries between realism and 

abstraction, and between nature and culture,

Julian Curi is an artist with a passion for 

telling stories. He has had education 

in both Directing and Fine Art, but 

he has never limited himself to just 

one medium. He has dedicated his life 

and work to bringing stories to life through 

various forms of expression, including art, 

animation, and filmmaking. Julian’s work is 

marked by a fervent dedication to detail, 

craftsmanship, and imagination. 

Growing up as a second-generation 

Cuban American, Julian had a strong sense 

of resourcefulness. He was always seeking 

out new worlds and stories beyond his 

suburban Northern Virginia setting, and he 

would create them himself using toys, tape, 

homemade costumes, and cardboard. Julian 

has always had a drive to both entertain 

and inspire those around him. 

While Julian is best known for his work in 

paper puppetry and animation, his professional 

life has been far from one-dimensional. He 

has pursued a diverse array of interests 

and skills, never replacing one love for 

another. He has sold caricature portraits as 

a boy, pursued an acting career in film and 

television, painted holy images for churches, 

shot, directed, and edited films, and now 

brings paper to life on camera. 

Through all of his adventures, Julian’s 

only constant has been his curiosity and 

his passion for exploring new forms of 

expression. He has always sought to master 

new skill sets, find new ways of telling stories, 

and entertain and inspire others. His work 

in film allows him to bring all of his many 

loves together, from drawing and painting 

to puppetry and animation. In everything 

he does, Julian strives to craft personal 

stories that are both honest and imaginative.

Nature-inspired hyperrealist 

artist: exploring metaphysics, 

spirituality, and inner 

freedom 

“I believe that human beings must discover their infinite

down we are one,” says Kotarska. 


Agnieszka Kotarska, born in 1984 in 

Poland, is an artist whose love for 

nature began at an early age and has 

since become a central theme in her 

art. She spent her childhood surrounded by 

nature, which helped shape her creative instincts 

and passion for drawing. After graduating in 

Hispanic Philology in Łódz, she moved to 

Spain, where she currently lives and works. 

Although self-taught, Kotarska has recently 

studied under the renowned hyperrealism 

artist, Emanuele Dascanio, who has greatly 

influenced her artistic technique. She primarily 

works with graphite and charcoal, which have 

become her main mediums. 

Kotarska’s art blends figurative realism 

with fantasy, symbolism, and mystery. She is 

drawn to themes of metaphysics, spirituality, 

transcendence, and inner freedom, which she 

has explored since childhood. She practices 

introspection and meditation as part of her 

daily routine, and her passion for travel has 

led her to explore many different cultures and 

continents. She has undertaken spiritual retreats 

in several Eastern countries, always carrying 

pencil and paper with her. 

“I believe that human beings must discover 

their infinite potential to connect with their 

wonderful inner world and understand that

one,” says Kotarska. Her work has been featured 

in art books and magazines and exhibited in 

international galleries and museums. In 2022, 

she won the FWSD Award in ARC Salon and

Exploring Omani heritage and landscape through 

realism and expressionism 

Alalawi has been an active member of the Omani Society for Fine Arts (OSFA) since 1993 and 

was part of the Youth Art Studio in 1986 


Said Alalawi is an Omani artist who 

specializes in drawing and painting with 

a focus on realism and expressionism. 

Born in 1965, Alalawi’s themes often 

revolve around Omani landscapes, heritage, 

traditional dances, the sea, and ships. He 

works with oil and acrylic colors. Alalawi holds a 

Bachelor’s degree in Education Administration 

from Sultan Qaboos University (2014) and a 

Diploma of Teaching in Social Studies from 

the College of Teachers (1988). 

Alalawi has been an active member of the 

Omani Society for Fine Arts (OSFA) since 

1993 and was part of the Youth Art Studio in 

1986. He has participated in several local and 

international exhibitions and symposiums. In 

1989, Alalawi had his first solo exhibition at the 

Altaliya Sports Club. He also participated in 

the annual exhibitions of fine arts and Arabic 

calligraphy, charity auctions, art education 

teachers exhibitions, and international events 

such as the International Aviation Exhibition 

in the UK and the International Youth Forum 

in Egypt. 

Apart from his exhibitions, Alalawi conducts 

workshops and art camps for youth and adults. 

He also organized several workshops on oil color 

painting, ceramics, metal wires simulations, 

and mural art. Alalawi has received numerous 

awards, including the Jury Prize at the 12th 

Annual Exhibition of Arabic Calligraphy and 

Literal Formation in 2017, and an appreciation 

award from His Majesty’s Office for being 

the best in the art category during the Youth 

Year in 1993. 

Alalawi’s artworks have been collected by 

government and private institutions. He has 

also been officially represented by Oman in 

various international events, including a joint 

art exhibition in Malaysia, Omani flying art 

exhibition in Malaysia, visiting program to 

Biennale Venice in Italy, and Gulf Cooperation 

Council Fine Arts Creativity Festival in Kuwait.

art scene 

Dubai’s art scene has experienced a 

significant transformation over the past 

few decades, as the city is becoming 

a hub, playground, and sandbox for 

artists from around the world. Dubai’s unique 

blend of cultural diversity, economic prosperity, 

and social tolerance has made it an attractive 

destination for creatives seeking a vibrant and 

supportive community to showcase their works. 

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, as 

the city underwent major development and 

modernization, Dubai’s art scene began to 

earn recognition. Art Dubai debuted in 2007, 

and since then it has become a global meeting 

place for artists, galleries, and collectors. The 

event gave modern artists from the MENA 

region, South Asia, and North Africa a chance 

to exhibit their work to an international audience. 

Dubai’s art scene has flourished ever since, 

with the city now home to dozens of museums, 

galleries, and annual art events. Around 40 

galleries and art venues have made the Dubai 

International Financial Center (DIFC) a major 

centre for modern and contemporary art. More 

than twenty galleries, exhibition spaces, and 

cultural centres have been established along 

Alserkal Avenue, a former industrial complex, in 

order to showcase modern and contemporary 

art. Dubai’s art scene is built upon a solid 

foundation of incubation platforms and measures 

that have been implemented to improve the city’s 

art scene and support artists. The government 

of Dubai has been instrumental in fostering the 

city’s burgeoning art community. The Dubai 

Culture and Arts Authority was set up in 2008 

to help local artists and cultural groups with 

grants and other resources. 

Dubai has implemented a series of measures 

to support its artists, including art festivals, 

grants, and residencies. The city’s government 

has also invested heavily in the development 

of art-related infrastructure, such as studio 

spaces and galleries, to provide artists with the 

resources they need to succeed. The Dubai 

Art Scene includes a range of events, such 

as Art Dubai, World Art Dubai, Sikka Art &

dedicated services and infrastructural facilities 

for the creative community. 

• Legislative and Technical Frameworks 

The government is making investments in 

legal and technical infrastructure to foster 

the creative community and encourage 

economic growth through innovation. 

• Double the Number of Dubai-based Creative

Art Dubai 

Art Dubai, the Middle East’s leading 

international art fair, is held annually at Madinat 

Jumeirah in Dubai, UAE, and has become an 

integral part of the city’s cultural landscape. It 

is widely recognized as the foremost event of 

its kind in the Middle East, having stimulating 

conversations about art from the Middle East, 

North Africa, and South Asia (MENASA) and 

promoting regional art globally over the past 16 

years. The 16th Edition of the event which took 

place from 1 -5 March 2023 was its biggest to 

date, as the gallery program featured over 130 

presentations from more than 40 countries and 

six continents. The event also saw more than 

50 sessions being held, from conferences and 

talks to education programs and dialogues. 

Art Dubai Fair LLC, based in Dubai, launched 

the annual art fair in 2007 intending to foster 

international dialogue and appreciation for the 

creative output of the Middle East and North 

Africa (MENASA) area. The size and prestige 

of the show have risen over the years, bringing 

in visitors from all over the world, including 

collectors, curators, art professionals, and 

art fans. 

As one of the world’s most diverse and 

inclusive art fairs, Art Dubai showcases art 

from a wide range of geographic and cultural 

perspectives, including Southeast and 

Central Asia, Africa, and Latin America. This 

heterogeneity is indicative of Dubai’s role as 

a crossroads for international commerce and 

cultural interchange. Art Dubai’s commitment 

to fostering intercultural interaction stands 

out among the other exhibition’s distinctive 

aspects. The fair offers a variety of programming 

and initiatives that promote emerging artists, 

curators, and art professionals while supporting 

the cultural community. Art Dubai has also 

been instrumental in fostering the growth of 

the city’s art community. The Sheikha Manal 

Little Artists Program, which provides art 

education and mentorship to children ages 

5–17, and the Campus Art Dubai programme,

World Art Dubai 

World Art Dubai is an annual international 

art fair held at Dubai World Trade Centre first 

launched in 2015, featuring art collectors, 

galleries, and artists from around the world. 

The purpose of the fair is to serve as a forum 

for artists, galleries, and collectors to exhibit 

their wares and raise awareness of the thriving 

contemporary art community in Dubai and 

the surrounding area. People of various 

demographics attend the show, from seasoned 

collectors and art experts to curious students 

and first-time buyers. The event incorporates 

numerous events and projects that appeal to 

attendees of varying interests and skill sets, 

in addition to providing an extensive selection 

of artworks at a wide range of pricing ranges. 

The 2023 edition of the event hosted 300 

exhibitors showcasing 4,000 artworks from 60 

countries. The event offers visitors a diverse 

range of affordable and expensive pieces of 

original art, including the dedicated Urban Art 

DXB area. The Urban Art DXB area of the expo 

features the work of local and international 

street artists as well as graffiti writers. The 

section’s inclusion highlights the region’s and 

city’s expanding appreciation for street art 

and urban culture. The Artwalk is yet another 

significant part of the fair, it features largescale 

works of art shown outdoors, such as 

sculptures and installations. The artworks 

and the artists’ processes can be explored 

by guests. The Art for Every Wall segment of 

the fair features original artwork at reasonable 

prices that may be used to adorn any wall. 

This area is designed for novice buyers and 

collectors who are just getting started. WAD 

NEXT at World Art Dubai features NFT artwork 

by regional and international artists and galleries 

in response to the increasing demand for such 

work in recent years. The relevance of digital art 

and blockchain technology in the art world are 

discussed in this section. Visitors can interact 

with artists and art industry professionals through 

a variety of seminars, art talks, and live art 

performances spread across the fair. 


Sikka Art and Design 

Festival 

The Al Fahidi Heritage Area in Dubai hosts 

the Sikka Art and Design Festival every year for 

ten days. The festival features over 60 events, 

including 35 art exhibitions, 15 workshops, 

and 10 performances over a span of 10 days. 

The festival has attracted over 75,000 visitors 

in the past. Since 2011, Dubai Culture, the 

city’s specialized authority on heritage, arts, 

and culture, has been in charge of planning 

and executing the event. The Arabic word 

for “alleyway,” “Sikka,” aptly describes the 

festival’s mission to bring culture to the city’s 

lesser-known lanes and nooks in Dubai’s old 

town. The festival’s goal is to give new and 

upcoming artists, designers, and craftspeople 

in the area a chance to gain exposure to their 

work. The festival features presentations by 

renowned artists, designers, and cultural 

specialists, as well as exhibitions, installations, 

workshops, musical and dance performances, 

film screenings, and discussions. 

The Sikka Art and Design Festival has grown 

into a major cultural event in Dubai, drawing in 

connoisseurs, designers, and tourists from all 

over the globe. When it comes to highlighting 

Dubai’s rich creative landscape and tradition, 

the festival has been instrumental. The emirate 

hopes to attract artists and creative minds 

across the world, and this event shall serve it 

in achieving that goal. 

The Dubai Festival for 

Youth Theatre 

The Dubai Festival for Youth Theatre is an 

annual two-week celebration of local theatre, 

organized by the Dubai Culture and Arts 

Authority. It has grown to become one of the most 

important events in the local theatre calendar. 

The festival provides a platform for young Emirati 

talent to showcase their creativity and innovation 

in theatre, as well as an opportunity to learn 

and develop their skills through workshops 

and training sessions. Each year, the festival 

attracts a large number of participants from 

across the UAE, with over 200 participants 

taking part in the 2021 edition. The festival 

also attracts a large audience, with over 5,000 

people attending the performances in 2021. 

It aims to promote the role of theatre in the 

UAE, encourage young people to participate 

in theatre, and provide a platform for local 

talents to compete and be recognized. The 

festival also promotes Emirati theatre heritage 

and includes events such as the Youth Theatre 

Forum, short plays, and an exhibition. One 

unique feature of the festival is the Youth Theatre 

Forum, which provides a platform for young 

theatre enthusiasts to discuss and share their 

ideas and experiences. The forum also provides 

an opportunity for young people to network 

and connect with other like-minded individuals, 

helping to build a vibrant and supportive theatre 

community in the UAE. The festival has also

six months, starting from October until April 

of the following year. 

Live Our Heritage offers visitors a wide range

handicrafts and traditional Emirati art forms. 

The festival aims to educate the community

significance of the Emirati crafts sector, and 

to encourage the preservation of Emirati 

heritage. Visitors can participate in workshops

such as weaving, pottery, and embroidery,

variety of entertainment activities inspired by 

Emirati culture, including national folk songs,

Calligraphy Exhibition

The Dubai Collection Nights, the first 

institutional collection of modern and

an initiative by the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority

Dubai, and runs in partnership with Art Dubai 

Group. It aims to provide the public with an

Dubai Public Art 

Dubai Culture & Arts Authority has launched 

a new initiative called Dubai Public Art, which 

aims to enable public art installations by UAEbased 

artists over several years. The initiative 

seeks to empower the creative community 

by collaborating with several organizations, 

including Art Dubai, Tashkeel, Alserkal, Art 

Jameel, and Akaas Visual Arts, who will issue 

open calls to artists and offer them a platform to

Exploring the beauty of the UAE: The iconic art 

of Abdul Qader Al Rais 


Abdul Qader Al Rais is a renowned 

artist from the United Arab Emirates 

who is widely recognized as one of 

the country’s most iconic painters. 

Despite being self-taught, he has skillfully 

captured the landscapes and customs of his 

homeland in his works. In his early career, 

Abdul Qader depicted realistic portrayals of 

Emirati architecture, coastlines, fishing boats, 

and landscapes. His later works reflected 

political themes, particularly with regards to 

the struggles of Palestine in the late 1980s 

and early 1990s. He later transitioned to a 

unique blend of calligraphy and abstraction, 

focusing on the contours of Arabic letters 

which has now become his signature style. As 

a founding member of the Emirates Fine Arts 

Society, Abdul Qader has had retrospectives 

of his extensive artistic career showcased at 

various art institutions, including the Sharjah 

Art Museum and the Institut du Monde Arabe. 

He was also featured in the UAE Pavilion at 

the 56th Venice Biennale, and his work can 

be found in prestigious collections such as 

The British Museum, the Louvre, and the 

Museum of Modern Art in New Delhi. Abdul 

Qader’s artistic creations have also been 

exhibited at the European headquarters of 

the United Nations in Geneva, and his public 

murals adorn the Dubai Airport and the Dubai 

Metro. His contributions to the arts have been 

acknowledged with numerous accolades, 

including the Sheikh Khalifa Prize for Art and 

Literature in Abu Dhabi, the Golden Palm 

Award at the Gulf Cooperation Council Art 

Exhibition in Doha, and the Sultan Al Owais 

Award for Scientific Studies and Creativity in

Coloring the world with passion: The 

artistic journey of Sara Al-Hail 

“Follow your passion! If you put your passion into an experiment, you will master it! 

Creativity takes courage, you must conquer your fear. Fear is a mind-killer. Face your 

fear, grab your pen, and mix your colors. Do not fear mistakes!” 


Sara Al-Hail is a self-taught artist who 

started in 2018, when she discovered 

her love for art. She was born and is 

currently based in the state of Qatar, 

and has a bachelor’s degree in Computer 

Engineering and Information Systems. Although 

Sara never thought she would start painting, 

she was always fascinated with colors. In 2018, 

she was inspired by a documentary movie 

about an artist who was joyful during painting. 

This inspired Sara to try painting for herself 

and see if she could experience the same 

passion and happiness. 

Because of Sara’s engineering background, 

she had an easy time understanding how to 

calculate sizes and distances in her drawings, 

which was necessary to create symmetric and 

accurate features in her paintings. She was 

self-taught from the beginning, practicing 

almost every day and learning the basics of 

painting from art channels. Because of her 

travels, studies, and work experiences in 

different cultures, Sara incorporates multicultural 

influences into her artwork. 

Sara is focused on creating positive and 

colorful paintings, often using a mix of colors 

that makes her paintings lively and forces the 

viewer to smile. She wants her art to bring joy 

to others. Her art often reflects a connection 

between the past and present and a luxury 

lifestyle. Sara is a pop art specialist and comic 

addict. Her passion for this type of art has grown 

because of her love of colors, cartoons, and 

manga. She loves pop art because it gives 

her the freedom to explore and create without 

limitation. 

Sara often uses different techniques and 

mediums such as oil and acrylic paint, spray

paint, ink, and mixed media in her artwork. 

She recently started using oil colors for portrait 

paintings and creating patterns with shapes 

that are mixed, repeated, or linked to each 

other. Sara’s collection, “It Is a Small World!”, 

resembles a lifestyle magazine where old and 

new Hollywood stars mix with comic characters 

painted in pop art techniques. She often uses 

ribbons and painted frames in her artwork, and 

paints on surfboards and skateboards using 

spray and acrylic paints. The skateboards are 

then placed in an acrylic box with a hole to 

create a money box that can be used to collect 

money from different places around the world. 

Sara is addicted to coffee and art, which 

inspired her to open a coffee shop called 

“Collectors Café” in Qatar, where customers 

can mix delicious coffee with art. She hosts art 

workshops in the café and has a mini gallery 

where artists can display their art pieces. 

Overall, Sara’s passion for art and her diverse 

experiences have allowed her to create beautiful, 

vibrant, and unique works of art. 

Sara has participated in several different 

exhibitions inside and outside the state of Qatar 

like The Ajyal Film Festival by Doha Film Institute, 

Abu Dhabi Comic Con and World Art Dubai.

Exploring human emotions and 

environmental issues through art, 

meet Emirati artist Rashid Al Mulla 


Rashid Al Mulla is an Emirati artist 

known for his skill in portrait and 

environmental art. He was born and 

raised in Sharjah and currently resides 

in Dubai. His portraits are notable for their 

ability to convey human emotions, while his 

environmental pieces aim to raise awareness 

on important issues such as water scarcity, 

deforestation, and animal cruelty. 

Rashid’s work has been featured in various 

galleries and events, and is included in both 

private and public collections throughout the 

UAE. Notable events where his work has been 

exhibited include the Sikka Art Fair, the Annual 

Exhibition in Sharjah, and the Faike exhibitions 

at FN design in Dubai. 

In 2019, Rashid was commissioned by The 

Cultural Office of Sheikha Manal Bint Mohammad 

Al Maktoum, along with nine other artists, to 

create a 140-meter-long mural. He has also 

created live art pieces at events such as the 

Sikka Art and Design Festival in 2016, Arab 

Travel Market, and Mirdif City Center for the 

Ministry of Culture. 

In his latest exhibition at the Sikka Art and 

Design Festival in 2023, Rashid showcased 

a collection of digital art on canvas, including 

“Counting Stars,” “Ocean Protector,” and “Don’t 

Be Fooled.” His collection is imbued with hidden 

messages and symbols, which he hopes will 

guide viewers towards fulfilling their personal 

missions.

“Every time I use my brushes, a new story is told, translating 

my feelings, my emotions, and my thoughts. With every new 

painting rises a new challenge: my own story to tell. Every 

painting is a reflection of my deepest emotions, it carries with 

it a piece of me,” says Christine el Ojeil 


At a very young age, Christine was 

fascinated by the art of painting. 

As a child and teenager, she used 

to draw and paint on pieces of 

wood that her father brought back from his 

carpentry shop. As an adult, and after taking 

a break from art, she reconnected with 

her passion at an Art Academy in Beirut, 

Lebanon. There, she learned drawing basics, 

and fully immersed herself in the art 

of color and composition. She continues to 

perfect her art by widening her knowledge 

through different art and painting workshops 

and techniques. Her artwork is a reflection of 

her thoughts and feelings. She gets inspired 

from life circumstances and express herself 

through colors and shapes or subjects that 

she would love to share with others. Most of 

her work is oil on canvas, she is more confident 

with oil painting because it’s richly 

pigmented and has a smooth texture once 

blended, which is more satisfying to the eye. 

The generating force behind her work is undoubtedly 

the love and the encouragement 

of her family. And knowing that there are still 

people in the world who truly admire Art!

Colors of the soul: 

The artistic journey of 

Rima 


Rima, a Barcelona-born artist, has 

always had a passion for drawing, 

which started from a very young 

age. Her childhood dream was to 

become an artist and inspire others to follow 

their dreams. Although she received private 

art classes from 12 to 19 years old, Rima did 

not attend art school. Instead, she pursued 

studies in fashion and design. However, after 

completing her studies, she realized that her 

true passion was in fine art. 

At the age of 21, Rima decided to take 

traditional art more seriously and began to teach 

herself what she felt was lacking to become a 

professional painter. She found that painting, 

especially with oil paint, allowed her to express 

herself fully with every color, brushstroke, and 

texture. In addition to oil painting, Rima also 

uses other media such as soft pastels, colored 

pencils, charcoal, gouache, watercolor, and 

occasionally digital painting. 

Rima finds inspiration mainly from 

photography, particularly figurative and 

landscape photography. She uses these photos 

to express the emotions they evoke in her or 

to amplify their inherent expression. As for 

technique, Rima often looks up to impressionist 

painters like Sorolla or Monet. 

For Rima, painting is not just a hobby or a 

profession, it is a way of life. She believes that 

art is a powerful tool that can bring people 

together, inspire change, and create beauty 

in the world. Rima’s passion for art and her 

determination to improve her skills are evident 

in her work. She continuously pushes herself 

to learn new techniques and experiment with 

different media to create unique and captivating 

pieces.

Gold Screens and Oriental beauty 


Dubai-based artist Maggie has been 

fond of Oriental art since childhood, 

she was fascinated by Byobu 

(wind walls), hand-painted Antique 

Japanese Gold Screens, which were used In 

Japan to separate interior spaces and provide 

privacy within a section of a room. Inspired 

by the beauty and the elegance of these 

antique, yet timeless 

panels, 

she created a

Roudaina Fardon is an impressionist 

artist based in the Middle East, who 

draws inspiration from her upbringing 

in Beirut, Lebanon. She pursued her

she pursued a graduate-level art education. 

Her work is characterized by her unique play 

on color contrast and unique perspectives, 

which aim to provoke a ‘double-take’. While 

she rarely restricts herself in the pursuit of the 

subject, she finds those featured in her work 

from within her own life, and her work always 

finds some form of connection to her story. 

Roudaina’s recent work focuses on the 

rich history of her home region, composed 

of dreamlike portraits of travelers and eyecatching 

mosaic-style renditions of the world’s 

most modern city. Her painting technique 

involves the use of acrylic paints on canvas 

to create mosaic-inspired landscapes that 

highlight the beauty of nature. She uses precise 

application of geometric shapes, leaving space 

between each color to give an overall mosaiclike 

appearance. Her use of light, shadow, 

intricate details, and vibrant hues brings a 

fresh perspective to the traditional landscape 

genre. The geometric shapes are combined 

to create a larger, unified image, with spaces 

between the shapes revealing glimpses of the 

underlying surface. Through her meticulous

titled “The Mystical Beauty of Nature” where she

Born and raised in Canada with Indian 

origins, Babita Shamji began her artistic 

career in 2017. After leaving Canada in 

2005, she embarked on a new journey 

to West Africa and lived in several countries 

over the span of ten years before finally settling 

in Dubai. While pursuing her passion for the 

arts, she took some art classes as a hobby, 

but eventually pursued a serious course on 

fine arts at the esteemed Lotus Educational 

Institute Dubai, which certified her as a fine artist. 

Art has always been an integral part of Babita’s 

life, and she has always been drawn towards 

visual arts, dance, music, and performing arts. 

Her figurative abstract works embody who she 

is as an artist. She connects lines, shapes, 

forms, and gestural marks to achieve a modern 

effect, finding the essence with minimal details 

and a limited color palette. 

Babita draws inspiration from the freedom of

Aleksandra de Pan is a painter of 

Russian origin currently living in 

Florence, Italy which, thanks to its 

landmark art, culture and nature 

contributed to further developing her artistic 

vein. Her passion for art and painting was 

born at a very young age. 

She has received several recognitions from 

some of the sector’s leading critics and has 

showcased her works at a number of exhibitions, 

both domestically as well as internationally 

including World Art Dubai in 2023. 

From an educational perspective, although 

Aleksandra gained a degree in non-art subject, 

for 3 years she read at the Institute of Design in 

Moscow, where she gained the basic knowledge 

of academic painting. 

Her style converges elements of surrealism 

and expressionism, whilst her approach to 

painting mirrors the “High Renaissance” instinct 

of following what is dictated by her senses. The 

result is unique works, heirs of the twentieth- 

century tradition of conceptual painting, an art 

full of hidden meanings, which challenges the 

observer to investigate the unknown. 

Mirror of her own personality, Aleksandra 

de Pan is constantly looking for stimuli that 

lead her to experiment with new techniques 

and styles in her works.

Nathalie Atamian is a renowned abstract 

expressionist in contemporary art

Exploring emotional 

landscapes through encaustic: 

The art of Antoaneta Hillman 

“Painting is poetry that is seen rather than felt,’’

Antoaneta Hillman creates abstract 

emotional landscapes that 

predominantly use white and are 

executed in an encaustic medium. 

Her preferred medium suits her temperament 

completely, as it is fast, hot, and durable. 

Encaustic medium is made of liquefied beeswax 

and pigments, and for durability, dammar resin 

is added. She uses wood panel as a substrate, 

and the wax is fused with a heat gun or propane 

torch. Antoaneta Hillman’s work in encaustic 

is versatile, combining sculpture, collage, and 

painting in symbiosis. However, with this variety 

comes the challenge of deciding what is best 

for the final result. She is drawn to minimalism, 

but at the same time, she can’t give up on rich, 

lavish colors and detail. This is why she works 

on two bodies of work at the same time - one 

minimal and the other blooming with colors. 

Scraping the layers of wax to reveal what 

lies beneath is like scraping the new to get to 

the old and well-known. Adding the sculptural 

effect of poured wax is the final definition, the 

stamp of the work. Antoaneta Hillman’s life is 

divided between two countries, which can be 

overwhelming and challenging, but it broadens 

her view and understanding of the world. She 

carries the culture of Bulgaria into her life in 

Dallas, two very opposite realities. Her work is 

represented by Cinq gallery located in Dallas 

art district, and she enjoys the attention of local 

and international collectors. 

Antoaneta Hillman’s process of painting is 

almost meditative, and she never fears not 

having inspiration and new ideas. She doesn’t 

get obsessed with the plan for the final result, 

as painting gives her freedom and a sense of 

purpose. She can’t imagine a life without art.

Dasha Vong: Exploring empathy and spirit 

through color 


Dasha Vong is a student of the 

renowned Russian artist Borisova 

Anna Vladimirovna, who has 

completed her studies at the 

Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture 

and Architecture Ilya Glazunov. She has 

been exposed to various styles of painting 

including realism, impressionism, pointillism, 

and Russian abstract expressionism, having 

been taught by Constantine Inal-Ipa, a 

member of the UNESCO Union of Artists 

in 1996 and a professional union of artists 

in 2007. 

Dasha Vong has participated in several 

Moscow exhibitions, and her paintings are in 

private collections in Moscow and the UAE. 

Her artistic journey began with restoring 

antique furniture where she discovered 

her love for colors. Five years ago, she 

started exploring fluid art, followed by 

realism and pointillism, and now she works 

in abstraction. The pandemic provided her 

with the opportunity to delve deeper into 

her passion for art. 

Dasha Vong believes that stories heal 

the soul, whether expressed through music, 

text, or color. Her artwork is empathetic and 

possesses a spirit that resonates with the 

viewer. If one can connect with her work, 

then she has successfully conveyed a 

story that they can relate to, and they will 

no longer feel alone. She expresses pure 

emotion on her canvas and is unafraid of 

being incomprehensible and different. Her 

goal is to find her path to harmony, blending 

retro and modern elements, as she believes 

our emotions are connected to the past. 

Dasha Vong’s preferred medium is oil, 

and she draws inspiration from the works 

of Gerhard Richter and Grace Hartigan.

Capturing reality on canvas: A tribute to 

the accomplished hyper-realistic artist 

and entrepreneur 


Pooneh Pouyanejad is an Iranian artist 

born in 1978, who has specialized in 

Hyper Realistic Art for more than 20 

years. She has worked with various 

mediums such as oil painting, color pencils, 

and charcoal, which has enabled her to create 

incredible pieces that are strikingly realistic. 

Apart from being an artist, Pooneh is also the 

founder and owner of the Pooneh Pouyanejad 

Art Academy, established in 2005. The academy 

has been training art students for over 15 years, 

and she proudly announced that over 7000 

students have been trained in her academy. 

Many of these students are now teaching art 

around the world, which is a testament to her 

ability to teach and inspire others to pursue 

their passion for art. 

Pooneh has been recognized for her 

entrepreneurial skills, being selected as the 

Top Female Entrepreneur in Iran in 2018. Her 

dedication and hard work have also earned 

her a special talent visa in the art category 

for Dubai Golden Visa in 2022. She is now a 

resident of the UAE. 

One of Pooneh’s goals is to globalize art 

and to educate artists without borders and 

races. Her passion for art and teaching has led 

her to inspire many aspiring artists to pursue 

their passion, regardless of their background 

or nationality. Through her art academy, she 

has created a space where students can learn 

and grow, and where art is celebrated and 

appreciated. 



Exploring the world 

through art: The 

inspirational journey of 

Israeli artist Omer Udvin 

“As an artist diagnosed on the autistic spectrum, art is my 

primary way to express myself and the way I experience 

life. To me, Colors, paint, and brushes are the keys to share 

my feelings and give others access to my inner world. When 

words fail, art speaks,” says Omer 


Omer Udvin, born in 1999, is a young 

Israeli artist diagnosed with autism 

spectrum disorder. For him, painting 

is a meaningful window to the world, 

allowing him to express himself in ways he is 

ordinarily unable to. Art is the twist in Omer’s 

endless journey of coping with autism. As a 

young boy, Omer objected even to holding 

a pen in his hand. Suddenly at the age of 8, 

he began to secretly draw just for himself to 

see. Only when he felt more confident with 

himself did he start sharing his artwork with 

his immediate family. 

His extraordinary drawing abilities were 

discovered only at the age of 17, and since 

then, despite his young age, he has developed 

a unique artistic style of his own and a personal 

artistic imprint. His paintings are characterized 

by their abstraction, daring bold color palettes, 

and a naive-optimistic perception and view of 

our world. Omer’s artistic work is influenced by 

expressionist modern artists such as Amedeo 

Modigliani, Egon Schiele, Pablo Picasso, Vincent 

Van Gogh, and more. Correspondingly, Omer is 

inspired by his great fondness for old cartoons 

and animation. 

Omer works with various techniques, mainly 

acrylic paints on canvas, watercolors, and 

mixed media using fabrics. “My work process 

always faces me with one of the things that 

have always been extremely difficult for me: 

making choices. For me, making choices is 

accompanied by great difficulty and anxiety, 

but when I paint, making choices becomes 

easier,” Omer says. “After I paint the first layer 

of the painting, I paint all the details in my 

signature ‘dots and stripes’ technique. Most 

of my works are composed of dots (influenced 

by ‘Pointillism’) and stripes, which requires a 

lot of precision and patience, but also makes 

me feel safe, calm, and in control.” 

Despite his young age, Omer has already 

exhibited his paintings in many exhibitions, 

including “Chabba” Art Gallery in Herzlia-2017, 

the International Exhibition for Naïve Art in Haifa 

2018, the Israeli Art Exhibition- 2018 of Bank 

Hapoalim, a two-artist exhibition at Lemon- 

Frame Gallery- 2018, a well-known gallery in 

Tel Aviv with great success and full spread 

recognition, an exhibition at the President’s 

Residence held on International Autism Day 

2019, and his paintings were also selected 

to be exhibited at SWISS ART-EXPO 2019 

as part of the ARTBOX GALLERY PROJECT. 

In 2020, Omer was awarded the “Artist of 

the Future Award” by the Contemporary Art 

Curator Magazine. He also participated in the 

“FRESHPAINT ART FAIR” in Tel Aviv in October 

2021. Omer’s artworks are regularly showcased 

at Lemon-Frame Gallery and are sold in Israel 

and around the world.

Faisal Al Rais

Faisal Al Rais is an Emirati conceptual 

artist and photographer born in Dubai 

in 1988. He holds a bachelor’s degree 

in media communication and public 

relations from the Higher College of Technology 

in Dubai. 

Faisal’s passion for photography began at the 

age of 10, and he has since established himself 

as a professional in the art and photography 

community. He has participated in numerous 

exhibitions both locally and internationally, 

including the SIKKA Art Fair, RAKFAF, Sharjah 

Biennale, Cannes Film Festival, and Biennale 

Venice. 

His work has been recognized with several 

awards, including the Ministry of Culture and 

Knowledge Development Flag Day Photography 

award, the Dubai Skydive photography 

competition by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed 

Al Maktoum Photography award, the Al Nawa 

Awards by UAEU, and the Habib Al Redha 

Media Innovation Award in photography and 

short film field. 

Faisal is a member of various art societies 

and groups, such as FIAP, GPU, UPI, ESP, 

DIHVA, and Akass Visual Arts. His photography 

is heavily influenced by street photographers 

Henri Cartier-Bresson and Vivian Maier. Through 

his art, he aims to deconstruct, reconstruct, and 

highlight the beauty of life’s simplest things.

The art of self-sacralization and fluid 

identity expansion 


Christiane Peschek’s works are set in 

a phygital world of self-sacralization 

and fluid identity expansion. Through 

images and multi-sensory spatial 

concepts, dialogues marked by intimacy and 

self-idealization are created. 

Consistently, Peschek’s projects revolve 

around the observation of the body on both 

sides of the screen, exploring fluid identities. 

Rituals, retreats, retouched images, scents, and 

sensual ethereal materials such as the deliberate 

use of Wi-fi radiation and low frequencies which 

have become hybrids of virtual transformation 

in a post-internet reality. Peschek interacts with 

near-body technologies such as smartphones 

to explore the “hyper-ego,” using the surface 

of touchscreens to create experiences at the 

intersection of technology and cosmology. 

Peschek has exhibited internationally in 

galleries and institutions, including the NRW 

Forum Düsseldorf, Museum Marta Herford, 

Benaki Museum Athens, and Kunsthaus Graz. 

Her works are found in several collections, 

such as the ING DiBa Art Collection, 

Artothek des Bundes Museum Belvedere21, 

Museum für Moderne Kunst Salzburg, and 

Kupferstichkabinett Vienna.

Ana Liz Cordero is a talented artist who

way of living. Ana Liz’s fascination 

with the Incan culture and their use of natural 

resources has shaped her identity as an artist. 

She believes in the unity of man, nature, and 

creator and incorporates positive messages 

in her work that allow viewers to imagine, feel, 

and remember what was and is our nature. 

Abstraction is a key feature of Ana Liz’s work, 

and she uses elements from the UAE area that 

she finds in the desert, sea, and mountains. 

She seeks materiality for her works and finds 

a source of deeper inspiration in nature. Ana 

Liz takes inspiration from various artists, including 

Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth, 

Michelangelo Buonarroti, and land art. Her 

work continuously mixes layer after layer of 

various natural materials that she finds in her 

local area, giving her abstract works a sense 

of depth and sculptural quality. 

Ana Liz’s images capture the essence of 

nature that she calls “organic abstraction,” 

reflecting her desire to connect with the spiritual 

through art. She uses a monochrome palette 

to communicate the essence of nature, emphasizing 

the shapes and movement of the 

landscapes that inform her work. Her work is 

not flat, as she emphasizes the importance of 

movement in life. Ana Liz continuously explores 

and experiments with alternative and more 

natural ways of creating art, finding new ideas 

in the desert, mountains, birds, and plants. 

Ana Liz’s work reflects her passion for nature 

and aims to promote a practice of care 

through its enhancement and preservation in 

her paintings. She believes in the importance 

of caring for the environment and using every 

minimal resource, as demonstrated by the Incan 

people she encountered in her childhood. Ana

Yunchul Kim is a South Korean artist and 

electroacoustic music composer who 

has gained international recognition 

for his work that explores the concept 

of “material” and its potential tendencies. His 

art embodies a world before human cultures 

or language, where humans, non-humans, 

machines, materials, and substances 

are considered equal. Kim’s works have 

been presented by renowned international 

organizations, including CCCB, FACT, Ars 

Electronica, and the Frankfurt Museum of Art. 

He has received various awards, including 

the Collide Award from CERN and the VIDA 

15.0 Third Prize. Kim is a transdisciplinary 

artist who works in installations, drawings, 

sound, texts, and other media. He integrates 

science, technology, music, philosophy, and 

poetry into his practice, unraveling a universe 

of mattereal entanglements. Kim is currently 

based in Seoul, Korea, and has been a chief 

researcher of the research group Mattereality 

at the Transdisciplinary Research Program at 

the Korea Institute for Advanced Study. He is 

also a member of the art and science project 

group Fluid Skies and the artistic research 

project Liquid Things at the Art and Science 

Department of the University of Applied Arts, 

Vienna, Austria. 

Yunchul’s artwork, “The Dust of Suns 

II,” has caught the public eye with its 

recent participation in Art Dubai 2023, 

where it stood out as one of the most 

distinguished pieces on display. The 

artwork showcases Yunchul’s mastery

Traversing the artistic 

landscape: A journey of 

discovery and innovation 


Nujoom Alghanem, an Emirati artist, 

poet, and multi-award-winning film 

director, was born in Dubai in 1962. 

She has published eight poetry 

collections and produced approximately 

twenty films, including short fiction, short 

documentaries, art films, and seven featurelength 

documentaries, which have garnered 

local, regional, and international recognition. 

Nujoom is the founder of Nahar Productions, 

a film production company based in Dubai, 

and also works as a professional trainer and 

mentor in filmmaking, art, and creative writing. 

Her poems have been translated into various 

languages, such as Spanish, German, French, 

Turkish, Italian, Macedonian, Greek, and Urdu. 

Nujoom earned her bachelor’s degree in 

Video Production from Ohio University in the 

United States in 1996 and completed her MA 

in Media Production from the School of Film, 

Griffith University in Australia in 1999. Although 

Nujoom started practicing drawing during high 

school, she only considered it a hobby until 

she met the late artist Hassan Sharif in the 

mid-1980s. She then began producing some 

paintings and sculptural works at Al-Muaraija 

Studio in Sharjah, where she presented them 

to the public for the first time. 

In January 1985, Nujoom founded the 

Aqwas group with artist Hassan Sharif, Youssef 

Khalil, the late Sudanese storyteller, and Khalid 

Albudoor, the poet, researcher, and translator. 

She also participated with the Emirates Fine 

Arts Society in the fourth annual exhibition at 

the Expo Center in Sharjah on March 28, 1985. 

She was among five artists who participated 

in the Rock, Paper, Scissors: Positions in 

Play exhibition at the Venice Biennale’s UAE 

National Pavilion, curated by Hammad Nasar, 

in 2017. During the exhibition, she presented 

her work, “Between Heaven and Earth – The 

body I borrowed,” which integrated sound and 

images for the first time. 

In 2018, she collaborated with British singer 

and songwriter Sami Yusuf on a joint work 

called The Room of Mysteries for Sharjah’s 

21st annual Islamic Art Festival, which had the 

theme “Horizon.” The exhibition took place at 

the Sharjah Art Museum. 

Also in 2018, as part of the “U.A.E. Unlimited” 

platform, she mentored six emerging artists for 

the Tashweesh: Noise of Materials fifth session 

exhibition and displayed her installation work, 

“Around Us,” as a guest artist at the Maraya Art 

Center in Sharjah. The exhibition was curated 

by Laura Metzler. 

In 2019, she represented the UAE as the solo 

artist at the Venice Biennale in Italy, showcasing 

her site-specific film, Passage, which was cowritten, 

designed, and supervised by curators 

Sam Bardaouil and Till Fellrath. 

She held a solo exhibition titled Malamih 

at the Maraya Art Center in Sharjah in 2021, 

curated by Dr. Nina Heydemann. The exhibition 

featured artwork from three floors, including 

paintings, ceramic sculptures, installations, 

and video art, all shown for the first time.

Lana Scolaro is a talented musician with a diverse range of skills. Lana is a DJ, music producer, rapper, 

and songwriter who has been active in the music industry since 2014. She was born in London, United 

Kingdom, in 1996. Lana’s passion for music began at a young age, and she has since become an accomplished 

musician, having played the cello at age 14 and the guitar at age 16. In addition to her musical pursuits, 

Lana has also launched a luxury jewelry company, LS Diamonds (known as LSD), and developed a photo 

app called “Do a Wilson” with her sister Stephanie Scolaro. 


Can you tell us a bit about your background 

and how you got started in the music 

industry? 

I was born in London, raised in Monaco, 

and studied at Parsons in New York. I got 

started in the music industry while spending 

my summers in Ibiza from the age of 13, 

where I was exposed to the music industry 

and spent time with various artists observing 

their dedication and burning passion. 

How would you describe your style as a 

DJ, and what sets you apart from other 

DJs in the industry? 

When I assess the energy of the crowd, I 

pay attention to their reactions to the songs 

I play and adjust accordingly. This allows 

me to create a dynamic and engaging 

performance that keeps the audience on 

their feet. By incorporating different genres 

into my sets, I can cater to a wider range 

of musical tastes, while still maintaining a 

cohesive and enjoyable experience. My 

goal is to keep the audience guessing and 

engaged throughout the entire set, while 

still delivering a unique and memorable 

performance. This approach to DJing 

allows me to stand out from other DJs in 

the industry and has helped me build a 

loyal fan base that appreciates my style 

and approach to music. 

What do you consider to be the key 

elements of a successful DJ set? 

Apart from selecting great music, I believe 

ending the set with a classic that no one 

expects is a key element of a successful DJ 

set as the element of surprise is always a 

great way to leave a lasting impression on 

the audience. It adds a sense of excitement 

and creates a memorable experience for 

everyone. 

Can you walk us through your process for 

selecting and curating music for a set? 

In addition to using rekordbox and keying my 

songs, I also spend a lot of time researching 

and discovering new music, so that I can 

keep my sets fresh and interesting. I listen 

to a lot of different genres, from hip-hop to 

electronic, and I’m always on the lookout 

for new and exciting sounds to incorporate 

into my sets. Finally, I practice a lot before 

every performance, so that I’m confident 

and ready to execute my vision for the set. 

With the rise of digital music and streaming 

platforms, how do you think the role of 

DJs has changed in the industry over the 

past few years? 

I believe there are now more female DJs in 

the industry, which is fair, and people are 

more attentive and used to it. Previously, 

the industry was mostly male-dominated. I 

think it’s fantastic that we’re seeing a more 

diverse group of individuals becoming DJs, 

not just in terms of gender but also ethnicity 

and cultural background. This shift in the 

industry has created a more inclusive and 

accepting atmosphere, which I believe is 

important for the growth and evolution of 

music. We need more diverse voices and 

perspectives to keep pushing the boundaries 

of what’s possible in the industry. 

How do you engage with the audience 

during a performance, and what do you 

do to keep the energy high throughout 

your set? 

When I know a good song is about to 

drop, I start jumping and raising my hands 

up to keep the audience engaged. No 

one wants a static DJ. In addition to the 

physical movements, I also like to interact 

with the audience through the microphone, 

introducing new tracks or asking them to 

sing along to familiar tunes. Engaging the 

crowd in this way can create a memorable 

and personalized experience for everyone. 

Ultimately, my goal is to make sure that the 

energy level in the room never drops and 

the audience is always fully immersed in 

the music. 

As a DJ, you have the ability to influence 

and shape the musical tastes of your 

audience. How do you balance playing 

music that you personally enjoy with 

music that you know will resonate with 

your audience? 

I mix them together and bring in classics, such 

as Afro house or tech house, to balance my 

personal taste with music that resonates with 

the audience. In addition to mixing different 

genres together, I also pay close attention 

to the reaction of the audience when I play 

certain tracks. This helps me gauge what 

the crowd likes and doesn’t like, and I adjust 

my set accordingly. At the end of the day, 

it’s important to strike a balance between 

pleasing the audience and staying true to 

my own style and musical taste. 

What do you see as your biggest 

accomplishment in your music career 

so far? 

Leaving my label, which was a subsidiary 

of Sony, and becoming an independent 

artist gave me more freedom and respect 

as an artist. I was featured in Forbes when I 

was 19 for my music entrepreneurship and 

for having a good connection with other 

reputable artists. 

What advice would you give to aspiring DJs 

who are just starting out in the industry? 

My advice would be to keep releasing 

music and not leave it stored somewhere. 

You never know who may love it or dislike 

it. In addition, it’s important to collaborate 

with other artists and build a network in 

the industry. Attend events, participate in 

music competitions and submit your work 

to music blogs and radio stations. These 

opportunities can help you gain exposure 

and connect with others in the industry who 

may be able to help you further your career. 

And always remember to stay true to your 

own sound and style. 

How do you stay motivated and inspired

I always need to be doing something, and 

I enjoy what I do, which helps me stay 

motivated. I believe that loving what you 

do is the key to motivation. I also do yoga 

and meditate as much as I can. 

Looking ahead, what are your goals for 

the future in terms of your DJ career? 

I plan to release more music and ultimately 

start my own record label for unknown 

artists with unseen talent. Starting my own 

record label would be a great opportunity 

to help other talented artists achieve their 

dreams and goals. It would also allow me 

to have more creative control over the 

music that is released and help shape the 

industry. Ultimately, my goal is to contribute 

positively to the music industry and leave 

a lasting impact. 

What message would you like to send to 

Magzoid Magazine readers? 

Stay positive, even if your numbers aren’t 

adding up, or things aren’t going as you 

mapped them out to be. It’s all part of the 

growth process! Sometimes setbacks and 

failures can be blessings in disguise, leading 

you towards unexpected opportunities and 

growth. It’s important to keep an open mind 

and learn from every experience, even the 

challenging ones. Remember, success is 

not a straight line, but a journey filled with 

ups and downs.

SPECIAL DAY 

Eid al-Fitr is a special day among 

families and friends throughout the 

Islamic world. This three-day festival 

takes place immediately following 

the end of the month of Ramadan and is 

the most significant and joyous observance 

of the Islamic faith. 

Eid Al Fitr, Arabic for ‘Festival of Breaking 

Fast,’ is an important Islamic festival that 

marks the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan. 

Muslims observe it during the first three days 

of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Islamic 

calendar. The Eid Al Fitr holidays in the UAE 

usually fall between the 29th day of Ramadan 

and the third day of Shawwal. However, 

depending on the moon’s sighting, it can 

also begin on the 30th day of Ramadan. 

In essence, Eid al-Fitr allows the faithful 

to thank God for having been granted the 

strength and conviction to complete the 

obligatory fast and obey His commandments 

during the holy month of Ramadan. By 

doing so, Muslims rejoice in returning to 

a state of fitra (innocence/purity), having 

been pardoned of all their transgressions, 

thus starting life anew. 

Eid Al-Fitr Celebration in the 

UAE 

In the days leading up to Eid al-Fitr, Emirati 

homemakers dust and clean their houses. 

The day begins early with morning prayers 

at home or a nearby mosque. At lunchtime, 

the Arabs feast on traditional dishes. 

In the past, on the first day of Eid, Bedouin 

men would shoot their guns in the air as an 

expression of joy, and this tradition is still 

carried on in some parts of the country. Men 

also perform popular traditional dances, 

including Al Razfah. 

The Emirati children celebrate Hagg Al- 

Layla, where they dress in their best clothes 

and recite songs and poems around their 

neighbours’ houses. In return, the neighbours 

reward them with sweets and nuts they will 

put in their traditional cloth bags. 

As the Islamic faith mandates, the Zakat al 

Fitr must be completed before the morning 

Eid prayer. Those with the financial means 

of doing so must donate either money or 

items such as rice, barley, dates, and other 

similar provisions. This mandatory donation 

must be distributed to the poor before the 

celebrations to ensure that all souls can 

enjoy a joyous holiday.

practice across the world. ‘The Only Constant’, curated by Maya Alison, delves into the artists’ confrontation with our current world, focusing

des ravins (They will end up in ravines) is inspired by video gaming arenas. Over a series of game-like missions, the protagonists invent

reflects on systems of coercion while depicting how self-love and community love invigorate resistance to oppression and social exclusion.

ARCHITECTURAL WONDERS 

The Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque (Aya Sofya), with its 

innovative architecture, rich history, religious significance 

and extraordinary characteristics has been fighting against 

time for centuries. 

It is among the world’s greatest architectural achievements, 

in particular famous for its massive dome, and considered 

the epitome of Byzantine architecture. 

The current building was constructed on the site of 

Byzantium’s acropolis, at the exact same spot where two 

earlier Hagia Sophias stood. The first was built as a traditional 

Latin colonnade basilica with galleries and a timber roof, 

inaugurated in 360 by Constantius II. 

The enormous dome (31,24 meters) sits 55,6 meters above 

your head. It was once covered with 30 million gold mosaic 

tiles and is currently decorated with Koranic inscriptions.

ARCHITECTURAL WONDERS 

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is one the world’s largest 

mosques and a massive architectural work of art that intentionally 

blends different Islamic architectural schools. 

It features 82 domes, more than 1,000 columns, 24-carat-gold gilded 

chandeliers and the world’s largest hand-knotted carpet. The main 

prayer hall is dominated by one of the world’s largest chandeliers. 

The mosque has four minarets, each approximately 106 meters 

tall. Each minaret is comprised of three different geometric shapes. 

The mosque features seven crystal chandeliers by Faustig of Munich, 

Germany. The largest is 10 metres across, 15 metres tall and weighs 

12 tonnes. There are two smaller versions of the same design, also
