Hughenden Manor, Buckinghamshire - National Trust<br />

A highly regarded National Trust property, Hughenden was famously the home of PM Benjamin Disraeli. Surrounded by ancient woodlands and parkland,<br />

this impressive Manor House has a huge sense of history - the site of political drama and royal visits. As well as the political intrigue, the Manor also played<br />

an important role in World War Two as the RAF had a secret base here. The gardens which were designed by Disraeli’s wife are another highlight - lovely to<br />

Forde Abbey & Gardens, Somerset<br />

This superb former Medieval Abbey was founded by Cistercian Monks in 1140. Set in the lovely<br />

Somerset countryside, the house is surrounded by 30 acres of award winning gardens described<br />

by Alan Titchmarsh as 'One of the great gardens in the West Country'. The garden offers<br />

something for every season with sculptures and architectural features, a cascade of lakes and<br />

the impressive Centenary Fountain, the highest in England. Inside you can discover the lives of<br />

monks in the fascinating Monastic Rooms whilst the house contains fine furniture and houses<br />

the ornate Mortlake tapestries. Head for the Undercroft Tearoom for delicious homemade food<br />

Weald & Downland Living Museum - Home of The Repair Shop<br />

Beautifully situated in the lovely West Sussex countryside this superb open air museum includes<br />

rescued traditional rural buildings. The site has recently shot to prominence as the location of<br />

the hit BBC series - The Repair Shop - the barn can be seen from a distance. The 40-acre site has 50 buildings to explore and many are exhibit houses,<br />

furnished to recreate historic domestic interiors. There are different domestic demonstrations on most days in the exhibit houses – dairying and cooking,<br />

The Vyne, Hampshire - National Trust<br />

The Vyne is a unique Tudor House situated in beautiful countryside just north of Basingstoke.<br />

residence over the years. Originally built for Henry VIII’s Lord Chamberlain, the house retains its<br />

Tudor Chapel and many original features. Around the grounds there are extensive woodland<br />

trails to explore and a wetland area populated by many different species of bird. The House is<br />
