Mòd <strong>20</strong>23 - Là Mòr nan Còisirean Sgìreil :: 1.30-<br />

5pm on BBC ALBA. Cathy MacDonald presents live<br />

coverage of two of the most prestigious choral<br />

competitions from the last day of the Royal National<br />

Mòd in Paisley. The competition from the Town Hall<br />

features choirs battling to win the Lovat and<br />

Tullibardine Shield which was won last year in by<br />

Oban Gaelic Choir. Live coverage of the competition<br />

unveils whether they will manage to hold on to the<br />

historic Shield for another year. Là Mòr nan Còisirean<br />

Sgìreil also features the competition for The Margaret<br />

Duncan Memorial Trophy won last year by the Black<br />

Isle Gaelic Choir at the Royal National Mòd in Perth.<br />

Along with Cathy to offer their own assessments on<br />

both competitions are two analysts with a keen<br />

interest in, and knowledge of, choral music. Winners<br />

of the Greenock Gaelic Choir Cup for Puirt-a-Beul, the<br />

Esme Smyth Trophy for Ladies Voices and the Mull<br />

and Iona Shield for Men’s Voices also feature.<br />

BBC ALBA. The coverage from the Royal National Mod<br />

in Paisley comes to a close as Cathy MacDonald<br />

presents highlights of the performances from the<br />

choral competitions held over the last few days.<br />

Amongst the winning performances featured are songs<br />

from the choirs who lifted the main prizes for the area<br />

choirs, primarily the Lovat and Tullibardine Shield, the<br />

Margaret Duncan Memorial Trophy and the Esme<br />

Smyth Trophy. Also featured are a selection of the<br />

winners from the rural choirs including those who<br />

lifted the Lorn Shield, the Sheriff MacMaster Campbell<br />

audiences can look back on the performances of eight<br />
