from U13s level - before making her debut for the Red Rose senior team in 2010, aged 16. She played 32 times for England between 2016 and 2019, including being part of the team that won the World Cup in 2017 – an incredible achievement. She was also Thunder’s first permanent captain, leading the side during the first two years of regional cricket, before handing over the reins to Ellie Threlkeld in 2022. Alex has had a fantastic career both at international level with England, but she’s also had a huge influence on Thunder in recent years and further back during the Kia Super League era. We thank Alex for all her efforts, and we wish her the very best for the next stage of her career, particularly as she continues to embark on what is already a hugely successful media career. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Club’s commercial partners – particularly Hilton and Sportsbreaks.com - for their ongoing support and additional funding, which is specifically being used to develop Thunder, both on and off the field. Hilton, who have been a long-term partner of Lancashire Cricket, have been very generous with their support. We have a number of exciting, upcoming announcements to make throughout the winter which would not have been possible without Hilton. In addition to the above, Sportsbreaks.com are helping to fund a warm-weather spin camp to Mumbai for a number of our Thunder squad in January. This experience will be vital for our young players to help them develop their skills against spin bowling, in particular. The Thunder squad have all returned to winter training over the last couple of weeks and it has been great to see the enthusiasm of all the players and their desire to hit the ground running. As always, the initial phase before Christmas will be mainly focused on building the fundamental basics and fitness work with our sports science and medicine team, before we get back into building volume and refining cricket skills in the new year. It’s looking very likely that Thunder will join the men’s squad once again on a preseason tour to Dubai and India next March, which is another incredibly exciting opportunity. I’d just like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at their Club for their ongoing support of Thunder and the women’s programmes at Emirates Old Trafford. Finally, to the Members and supporters of Lancashire Cricket, we hope to have the opportunity for Thunder to play even more matches at HQ next summer and I know all the girls would really value your support in the stadium.
