1 | BOKER BARLOW PRIME TIRPITZ DAMAST
The huge interest in our exceptional Boker Tirpitz
Damascus has convinced us to design another model
with the historic Damascus steel. Compared to
the original model, the Boker Barlow Prime Tirpitz
Damascus is much more compact and convinces
not only in the collector‘s showcase, but also as a
gentleman‘s knife suitable for the pocket. The blade is
made of the unique Tirpitz Damascus, is equipped with
a modern, elongated ricasso and is opened by nail nick.
The sister ship of the legendary Bismarck was the
largest battleship ever launched for the German Navy.
Immediately after the end of World War II, a Norwegian
specialist company began dismantling the ship, which
had sunk off the Norwegian coast, to make the high
alloy steel available for civilian purposes. Norwegian
divers recovered pieces of the Tirpitz‘s special armor
from the fjord for Boker. From these pieces of living
history, the Boker Damascus smith exclusively forges
an exceptional Damascus with a fascinating history.
The Great Pyramid pattern in 200 layers distinguishes
the hand forged Damascus steel blade and makes this
knife the highlight of any knife collection.
The combination of Tirpitz steel with carbon tool
steels also results in an extremely durable Damascus
that, with a Rockwell hardness of 61 to 63 HRC, is up
to any task in everyday use. The operating safety of
this history-making slip joint pocket knife is further
enhanced by a 90-degree detent during opening and
closing.
The characteristic teardrop point shape of the Barlow
can be traced back to the English pocket knives of the
17th century, which certainly makes it one of the oldest
models ever. The name of the classic probably goes
back to an enterprising Sheffield knife manufacturer of
the same name, who began exporting the sturdy knives
to North America around 1800. There they immediately
enjoyed great popularity and so at the end of the 19th
century the first Barlow models also appeared in the
history of the Boker manufactory.
This integral construction version of the timeless classic
is equipped with a contoured handle body made of
black Micarta, which is milled from the solid and also
forms the characteristic bolsters of the Barlow. The
lightweight design can thus completely dispense with
additional liners made of metal. Thanks to the likewise
contoured handle scales made of domestic walnut
wood, the unique gentleman‘s knife is extremely
comfortable in the hand. The decorative rivets are
made of nickel silver, the pivot screw of stainless
steel. Comes with a high quality felt pouch for storage.
Handmade in the Boker knife manufactory in Solingen.
2 | BOKER TIRPITZ DAMAST
A piece of history comes alive. The Tirpitz, sister ship of
the legendary Bismarck, was the largest battleship ever
built for the German Navy. On November 12, 1944, the
British Royal Air Force attacked the Tirpitz with special
tallboy bombs, settling it near the shore in the shallow
water. Shortly after the war, a Norwegian specialty
company took interest in the specially alloyed steel of
the Tirpitz, and retrieved parts of the special armor of
the Tirpitz, from the Fjord. These pieces of living history
are being exclusively forged by our Damascus forger
to an extraordinary Damascus steel with an exciting
background. The pattern "Great Pyramids," with more
than 300 layers, adorns the mighty 4" blade, and makes
this piece the highlight of any collection. The combination
of the Tirpitz steel and carbon tool steels also creates an
extremely rugged Damascus steel, which has a hardness
of 61° HRC, and can handle any cutting task. The
handle, made of high strength AlMgSi1 aluminum (with
Silicium, making it a much higher quality than standard
AlMg3), is hardcoat anodized and provides a secure grip.
The reversible clip allows for tip-up or tip-down carry. For
the handle inlay we chose domestic walnut, which has
a long history as shaft wood for German rifles due to
its superior characteristics. This eye-catching inlay also
features the original Tirpitz crest. This knife combines
history, tradition and modern technology in a unique
way, and is handmade in the Boker manufactory in
Solingen, Germany. Comes complete in a presentation
box, serial numbered, with a certificate of authenticity.
Blade length: 3.90". Overall length: 9.02".
Weight: 5.9 oz.
3 - 4 | BOKER TIRPITZ DAMAST WOOD
For years, many of our customers have been interested
in our extraordinary collectible knife Boker Tirpitz
Damascus. Its popularity convinced us to develop another
model featuring the historic Damascus steel. The Boker
Tirpitz Damascus Wood is approximately 10mm thick
with a much flatter construction. Its much more elegant
lines are enhanced by the full length scales of domestic
walnut. The matte wood of the contoured handle scales
is CNC-milled in a three-dimensional design.
The coat of arms and name of the Tirpitz takes pride on
the front. The sister ship of the legendary Bismarck was
the largest battleship ever commissioned by the German
Navy. Right after the end of World War II, a Norwegian
company sent experts to salvage the ship's wreck off the
coast of Norway, in order to make the highly alloyed
steel available for civilian purposes.
5 | BOKER TIRPITZ DAMAST GOLD
On April 1, 1939, the Tirpitz, named after Fleet Admiral
Alfred von Tirpitz, was christened and launched in
Wilhelmshaven. Since then, a larger battleship has never
been built again in Europe. Now, 80 years later, we are
presenting the special edition Boker Tirpitz Damascus
Gold as a reminder that Western Europe suffered
through two World Wars and has been living in peace
and liberty since 1945.
The enormous battleship was sunk in 1944 off the
Norwegian coast. Right after the end of World War II, a
Norwegian company sent experts to salvage the ship's
wreck, in order to make the highly alloyed steel available
for civilian purposes. Boker received some parts of
the salvaged armoring of the Tirpitz. Our Damascus
blacksmith took these pieces of living history and forged
an exclusive and exceptional steel with a fascinating
history.
At first glance, the Boker Tirpitz Damascus Gold fascinates
with its peerless Damascus blade, exclusively plated with
24K gold. The blade consists of 300 layers of hand forged
110194DAM
Tirpitz Damascus with the "Great Pyramid" pattern. The
subtle sheen of the gold plating certainly catches the eye.
All elements, such as the thumb stud, blade and handle
screws, spacers, liner, clip and replacement clip plate are
gold plated as well. The sturdy, 1.5mm thick liner lock
secures the blade.
The repositionable clip (tip-up/tip-down) allows
for convenient carry options. The inlay of domestic
walnut wood sports the coat of arms and name of the
Tirpitz. Each knife of this special edition is an elegant
combination of history, remembrance and modern
technology. Completely handmade by Boker in Solingen,
Germany. Comes complete in a presentation box with an
