Three new works for accomplished pianists who enjoy<br />
performing new music<br />
Sortie for piano is our first publication by Australian<br />
composer Cyrus Meurant. Meurant is an enterprising<br />
young composer whose works have been performed<br />
throughout Australia and further afield. His music has<br />
been described as evocative, hypnotic, deeply rich<br />
and hauntingly beautiful. Sortie (PE204) resonates with<br />
anticipation and hope, reflecting the human spirit’s<br />
resilience. Meurant’s masterful restraint and skilful<br />
layering of simple ostinati creates an ever-evolving and<br />
building sonic landscape.<br />
We have also released Matthew Hindson’s Mechanically<br />
Speaking (PE046) as a standalone edition. First published<br />
in Firestarters 2 (PE069) in 2006, Mechanically Speaking<br />
is a rare piano work from the prominent Australian<br />
composer’s catalogue. It was composed with an image<br />
of interlocking pieces of machinery in mind – the<br />
composer imagined an industrial workplace with gears<br />
cranking and cogs turning.<br />
We are also pleased to release the long awaited second<br />
volume of Vincent Ho’s Supervillain Études (PE215).<br />
This volume includes études 4–6 including C4twoman,<br />
Poi5on Ivy, and J6ker. These Supervillain Études take<br />
gestural cues from choreography while maintaining<br />
the profiles and personalities of the aforementioned<br />
supervillains, forming a compellingly moody, exciting,<br />
and villainous set of works.<br />
All three works are perfect for more accomplished<br />
pianists who enjoy performing new works from living<br />
composers.<br />
<strong>New</strong> arrangement of Vaughan Williams’ incidental<br />
music for Richard II available<br />
This new adaption and arrangement of Richard II –<br />
Incidental music for a radio production of William<br />
Shakespeare’s play brings Vaughan Williams’s music<br />
alive to a new audience. Richard II: A Concert Fantasy<br />
(PEV04S) masterfully stitches together the majority of<br />
the original 34 incidental music cues into a 17-minute<br />
suite for concert performance.<br />

Vincent Ho’s Supervillain Études fixate on six supervillains from comic book culture. Ho<br />
found that each of these villains are extreme expressions of psychological disorders and<br />
decided to dive into their psychological profiles collaborating with choreographers to see<br />
their takes on animating each of the profiles. The Supervillain Études take gestural cues from<br />
choreography while maintaining the profiles and personalities of the aforementioned supervillains,<br />
forming a compellingly moody, exciting, and villainous set of works. This volume<br />
contains three études: C4twoman, Poi5on Ivy, and J6ker.<br />

and turns throughout the piece. There is one particular motive that returns throughout the<br />
composition in many different guises. A perfect piece for the advanced student performer<br />

Recognised as one of the major musical figures of his time, Ralph Vaughan<br />
