Sorrento
120 | Official Hotel Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★
Welcome to a slice of the good life! Channelling all the sophistication
for which Italy is famous, Grand Hotel de la Ville is elegant, peaceful
and, above all, stylish.
Grand Hotel de la Ville enjoys a privileged position in a quiet part of
Sorrento. The hotel is a perfect hideaway from the hustle and bustle
(particularly in the popular summer months) but just a 15 minute walk
from the pretty town centre, it's also an ideal spot to visit all
the main attractions.
Sorrento is of course world-famous for its sweeping water views. In
order to see these at their very best, take a trip to Grand Hotel de
la Ville’s rooftop terrace. From here you’ll drink in the spectacular
Sorrentine peninsula in all its glory, including the Bay of Naples, Mount
Vesuvius, and Capri.
But the hotel’s rooftop serves as much more than just a viewpoint.
The terrace is equipped with a pool (the hotel has two, the other is
in the gardens), so you can take a dip while you gaze amazed at the
iconic view.
Naturally, food and drink play a great part in your holiday at
Grand Hotel de la Ville. The hotel has two bars and two restaurants,
plus a snack bar for lunchtime. The main restaurant Altea is for
breakfast and dinner. Additionally, the hotel has an à la carte
restaurant La Camelia - payable locally. The restaurants serve both
Mediterranean and international cuisine that bursts with flavour and
local savoir-faire. Dining at Grand Hotel de la Ville is a unique and
unforgettable experience, and bound to be one of the highlights
of your trip.
Hotel Jaccarino
The hotel is ideally placed if you're seeking a central location. A few
minutes' walk will bring you to Piazza Tasso, Sorrento’s main square,
where you can enjoy the sacred art of la passeggiata. Venture into
the pretty side streets and you’ll find yourself immersed in Sorrento’s
authentic hustle and bustle: think trattorias serving delicious meals,
ceramicists making the town’s famous lemon-decorated pottery, and
fashionable boutiques offering a taste of Made in Italy style!
Once back at the hotel, take a trip up to the sixth floor for a drink at
the Sky Bar. This lovely rooftop terrace also has an inviting infinity
plunge pool, which is an amazing spot to soak up the fabulous
Sorrentine views. Whether you’re cooling off during the day or
enjoying an evening aperitivo, we think there are few better places to
gaze at the horizon.
Relax after a busy day of sightseeing
in Sorrento’s Fauno Bar, sitting
directly on the Piazza Tasso. It’s a
great spot for people-watching.
the hills above Sorrento, but is just a 15 minute drive from the busy
town. The hotel is a haven of peace and tranquility and is guaranteed
to give you a restful break.
Hotel Jaccarino is a grande dame of a hotel and is family-run, but
the best thing about it is the sweeping views overlooking the Bay
of Sorrento. Find your way to the lower terrace to see these at
their best. Set against the phenomenal backdrop of sea and sky, the
terrace is home to a large pool and ample sunbeds.
The sleepy village of Sant'Agata is just a few minutes' walk from
Hotel Jaccarino and is full of surprising historic and gastronomic
treasures.
