The <strong>Edison</strong> Innovation Award (EIA) is presented each year to a filmmaker<br />

who has a distinguished body <strong>of</strong> work that advances <strong>the</strong> mission and<br />

legacy <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Thomas</strong> <strong>Edison</strong> <strong>Film</strong> <strong>Festival</strong> and demonstrates significant<br />

recognition, past and present. The filmmaker recognized is also prominent<br />

in <strong>the</strong> community <strong>of</strong> independent filmmaker/artists and is recognized as<br />

a pioneer in new forms and innovations in filmmaking.<br />

<strong>2024</strong> EIA Recipient<br />

James Hollenbaugh<br />

Writer/Director/Producer<br />

James Hollenbaugh is a Pennsylvania-based<br />

filmmaker predominantly working in small<br />

gauge film formats. Focusing primarily in<br />

<strong>the</strong> documentary and experimental genres,<br />

his work has screened in all fifty states and<br />

fourteen different countries.<br />

Hollenbaugh’s films have been seen in<br />

art cinemas, universities, galleries, libraries,<br />

museums and festivals and have been<br />

programmed at Slamdance, The American Documentary <strong>Film</strong> <strong>Festival</strong>,<br />

Chicago Underground <strong>Film</strong> <strong>Festival</strong>, Anti Matter,<br />

Analogica, Maryland <strong>Film</strong> <strong>Festival</strong>, Experiments<br />

in Cinema, Alchemy <strong>Film</strong> and Moving Image<br />

<strong>Festival</strong>, Istanbul International Experimental<br />

<strong>Film</strong> <strong>Festival</strong>, Revelation Perth International <strong>Film</strong><br />

<strong>Festival</strong>, Iowa City International Documentary<br />

<strong>Film</strong> <strong>Festival</strong>, <strong>the</strong> Philadelphia International <strong>Film</strong><br />

<strong>Festival</strong>, and A<strong>the</strong>ns International <strong>Film</strong> <strong>Festival</strong>.<br />

Jim has also lectured extensively and screened<br />

his films at colleges, universities, museums, and<br />
