The Blue Balloon (Le Ballon Bleu) – Narrative
14 min. by Katherine Griffin, Marina del Rey, CA, USA
“The Blue Balloon” is an homage to the 1956 classic French film “Le Ballon
Rouge” (The Red Balloon). When a girl with a blue balloon crosses paths with
a boy and his red balloon, it’s clear a greater magical force is at play in the
streets of Paris. Like the film it celebrates, this is a story about the magic of
childhood and the importance of friendship. The film showcases many of the
same Parisian locations as the 1956 classic French film.
Shahzia Sikander: Melting Boundaries – Documentary
9 min. by Andrea Yu-Chieh Chung – Art 21, NY, NY, USA
Known for addressing colonial histories and erasures through traditional
Indian and Persian manuscript paintings, Artist Shahzia Sikander is creating
two sculptures for her first major public art commission in New York City.
“Witness” installed in Madison Square Park, and “Now,” sits atop the Appellate
Division, First Department, Supreme Court of the State of NY alongside statues
of famous lawmakers
like King Louis IV
and Moses. Shahzia
reimagines monuments
as markers of boundarybreaking,
feminine spirit,
and collective visibility.
The Little Man – Screen Dance
